There is an external dll for HotA's map editor, that implements most of grayface features. Replacing object appearance though is not provided.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/i3ylvbmp9hldnab/gf_me_patch.dll?dl=0

To use - place the dll in the game's folder and launch HotA's map editor with key /p:gf_me_patch.dll

Sounds great! What do you mean with "launch the editor with key /p:gf_me_patch.dll" though?

To launch any programm with some key:
1) create a shortcut of a corresponding exe file anywhere
2) in options of a shortcut in "launch path" (or smth like it) type in the key after the path that is there (path space key)
3) save and launch

ok
I've made what you said.

My launch path is : "C:GOG GamesHeroes of Might and Magic 3 Completeh3hota_maped.exe" /p:gf_me_patch.dll

Now i have 5 new options in the HotA's map editor.

In the upper right corner (right on the mini map) there are 5 new buttons.
-1)Place Road ans River anywhere
-2)the second button don't work !!
look the message I have when i select the second button:

"Exception EAssertionFailed in module gf_me_patch.dll at 00061522.
H3WMAPED.exe file is invalid (Common.pas, line 1140).

-3)Fill map

-4)Load Minimap Picture

-5)Save Minimap Picture

But when i select an object panel, for exemple Dirt objects, 4 buttons disapears, only button 5)Save minimap Picture stay visible...

After all, i don't see the difference with the classic HotA's map editor...
Then i don't see what is the utility to launch the map editor with these key...
What is the difference ?
Maybe i'm stupid, but i don't understand the fonction of the new buttons...

@Nik312
What is grayface features ?

How can you implement them ?

Can you tell us what is the utility to launch map editor with this key please ?

Because it doesn't do exactly what GF editor does in wog: allows changing any object graphics, type/subtype and modify passability (change entrance location, make passable etc).

This only allow minimap save/load. That's why I worried about command line path, as I saw no changes when press space bar.

OK.
Then i think i will continue to work with the classic HotA's map editor...

It all seems to work properly for me. That second button allows you to place objects anywhere (like a town on water or water objects on land). It is true what Salamandre pointed out though; it doesn't seem to offer the same features as grayface's WoG patch did but at least it's something.

Thank you for this Nik.

This is more of a question than a suggestion:
Does anyone know if the HotA team plan to buff some of the more useless secondary skills?
I'm especially thinking about:
First Aid(Tent is very weak and does'nt heal enough)
Eagle Eye (Rarely works, need to be in battle with opponent who casts a spell that you don't already know. Does it even work against creatures like master genies, fairie dragons etc.?)
Mysticism (Does not recover enough mana and useless for town heroes, intelligence is always better)

Also these skills could use a buff:
Learning (You use a skill to get a few more xp and possibly stats, very rarely worth it)
Ballistics (Can be okay for certain Towns, like Stronghold and Fortress, but this skill only works when attacking a town)
Pathfinding (This of course depends on the map you are playing, if there is lots of swamp, snow or sand, this could be good, but logistics is often better)

I've got some suggestions for making the above skills better, but first I wanted to ask if HotA are planning on doing something?

Has been asked 1000 times already. Yes, the crew stated they were considering some tweaks iirc.

Btw, add Sorcery and maybe Scholar to the list + Learning isn't even situational, it is always rubbish.

Actually I don't consider Sorcery and Scholar that weak.
Sorcery In the hands of a powerful Warlock, Witch or Wizard with Implosion, Meteor Shower or Chain Lightning and maybe the elementalorbs can get scary. But maybe just a little buff of +5% at each level, giving 10/15/20% instead of 5/10/15%.
Scholar is already okay, but maybe a slight buff of +1 to spell-levels so you can learn/teach 3/4/5 level spells instead of 2/3/4. (Same for Eagle Eye and also +10% chance of learning spells giving 50/60/70 and with Expert Eagle Eye and all 3 EE-artifacts you will have 100% chance to learn all spells cast, that's a much better Eagle Eye right there)
Maybe Artillery also need a little boost, but at least you can control arrowtowers with it when defending a town and ballista/cannon are not as fragile as that useless First Aid Tent.

Sorcery sucks big, because it was supposed to counter the natural fighting skills as offense, armorer and archery. Or compared to those, it is ridiculous. So, even on a "powerful" warlock, if you have offered at left side offense, at right side sorcery, if you pick right side then you still don't get how battles work.

Sorcery is great with heroes who has specialty with this skill. This make Malekith good main hero.

Now you picked my curiosity, as I never pick such hero. Did a search on wcl tournament statistics, Malekith is rated 75th best hero, in order of efficiency, win/loss ratio. So I still think it sucks.

There are no powerful warclocks in this game, as there is no way to boost your spells and the mana runs low all the time. The only maps where spell damage matters are the ones where creatures are very limited.

Sorcery adds 15% damage. With 20 levels of experience, it's 30%.

...on the other hand, Offense ads just same amount of damage to ALL the creatures in your army, all the time - and needs no mana.

There is no doubt that Offense is powerful, probably more powerful than Armorer, Archery and Sorcery, but remember Offense only affects melee attacks, so that as least limits it a bit for Tower and maybe Castle, Stronghold, Dungeon, Conflux and Cove. Armorer on the other hand affects all physical attacks.
Sorcery-specialists can get very strong, especially a high-power Malekith, give him intelligence, earth and air magic and your enemy better have some resistance or Expert Anti-magic.

Bear in mind that Sorcery only affects damage spells which are rather situational.

Even if your Magic hero is a quite strong one - say their implosion deals 3000 dmg before Sorcery, lvl 30 Sorcery specialist --> 37.5% dmg bonus.

You get 1125 dmg for free - that's 4 Archangels - not overwhelmingly impressive.

I think you never player online or vs smart human opponent. Sure, vs AI, who has no clue what to move, when to cast and when to wait, any high level magic hero gives the false impression that damage spells rule the battle. But they don't, if there is a real brain on the other side of the battle. Usually the first hand to hand clash decides the battle outcome, so spells as slow, haste, prayer are more effective. Then natural fighting skills.

I think this is a pity as in H2 warlocks ruled the map with their lightning bolt and was fun to decimate full knight armies with 7 gargs only.

Well I never said that Malekith was the best hero or that sorcery is the best skill, but they are definitely not bad either. If I can cast a 5000 damage implosion every turn in addition to my creatures damage, that is not bad at all. Especially when facing Gold Dragons or annoyingly fast creatures like Phoenix, Arch Angels or even Azure Dragons. Of course implosion are not always the best spell to cast in the beginning of the battle, that would usually be slow, haste, bless, curse, blind or berserk for example, but when you've pacified the enemy you can go nuts on them with implosion, meteor shower and chain lightning (Or armageddon for cheaters)
