Yes Spike I did, I guess I was trying to defend myself from ericoz, who was going all out on me.
Never understood why a 5k implosion every round is bad though? Of course this not the first thing to cast, that would probably be Mass Slow/Haste or Bless/Curse, Blind or Berserk, but still when buffs and debuffs are cast Implosion come into play especially for a magic hero (With Orb of Silt)

Yes it is not a "Bad Thing" but it's not a priority.
If you start, whit mass Spells, and use your troops well, the battle is already finished before you can cast Implosion...
And Implosion has a very expensive mana coast, this is not good to cast it ofen if you do lots of battle without sleeping in Town or in the same day...



Until now i stop to speak about it because this is not the good thread for this...

I respect the way you play, and I don't want force you to use any mod or not...
But please remember and respect that, sometimes, the majority of people here don't like your wishes for HotA and try to argument to tell you why it's not always a good idea or if there is already a solution to do what you want whitout modifications...



Personnally I don't like the modifications of the gameplay in general.
I'm not for changing what already exists in the "vanilla HoMM3".
That's why I think rebalancing Spells or Secondary skills in not good.
Adding new artefacts, or new spells are best ideas for me...

"vanilla = The official game whitout mod"

For exemple:
I like when HotA add the Cove race, and all the other map locations, like the Warehouses, The temple of Loyaty, and all the new decoration objects.

And I don't like when they change Immunity of Fire for the Phoenix for example... (because this is not logic)

No maybe we should'nt discuss this here, but I still would like to defend the magic heroes once more. What if you have Wizards Well (Which is very easy to get btw) then you have practically unlimited mana. Same if you have Town Portal and a Dungeon with Mana Vortex. Also magic heroes does'nt run out of mana so fast.
For your information only the Firebirds resistance was changed, not the Phoenix, but I agree with you why is a FIREbird not immune to fire...

because it's still mostly bird, and less fire. whereas the phoenix is mostly fire, and less bird.

from lvl 10 heroes start leveling pretty much the same on all stats. so at end game it doesnt make much difference if might or magic hero when primary statistics reach 20+

important what happens up to when that time comes.

before magic hero was inferior since it was harder to get good spells, but now hota added lvl 4 shrine which makes magic hero good choice in early game.

also hota has cape for blocking lvl 1-3 spells which make advantage for magic hero.

before was only orb and cloak for blocking 3-5 spells which make might hero stronger.

i think these balance changes are very good, and even if you have magic hero and opponent got orb of inhibition, in the end battle it will be what secondary skills and who got a better army that counts

ps.: its snowing in eastern europe

the info is practical my cheerful smiley friend husham. hota have a nice boost on magic heroes which serve their purpose really well on the map.

i will keep a good magic heroe beside my crag hack any day

so since i mention crag hack, i would like to strike melee more often with my titans. thats a reasonable thing to ask for hota developers, or is it not?

(IDEA: make Titans only melee, and then add capability "can shoot" instead of "no melee penalty" which you would bring out by pressing the predefined key on keyboard, like with faery dragons and magogs)

if add a lvl 5 shrine it must be guarded very strong. like 2 or 3 times stronger than lvl 4

As a map-maker I would really like the ability to customize which spells may appear in level 1-4 shrines and pyramids, just like you can customize spells in Towns.

No, in Towns you can customize exactly which spells may appear. In shrines you either choose one spell or leave it random and in Pyramids it's always random.

Campaign Editor

I have a question and a wish at the same time.

Why isn't a campaign editor for HotA released?

I extracted HotA campaigns from the game files and added it into the map folder as custom campaigns. They could be played with no problems through the "Custom campaign" menu in-game.

I would love to make some HotA campaigns, but can't at the moment. I understand the editor might not be yet polished and on the level of simplicity of the official AB/SoU campaign editor, but why not release it as a standalone tool at least, somewhat like a beta version? This would be greatly appreciated.

So, can campaign editor be released?
And if not - why so?

I'm back again with 4 suggestions to make HotA even better.

1) When trying to summon a boat, some times you keep trying and trying and waste precious mana when suddenly you get the message "There are no boats to summon". It would be nice if you got this message first time you tried to summon or you at least did'nt use mana if there are no boats to summon.
2) I don't know if this is possible, but I have always dreamed of "artifact-schemes" for heroes, so you could have one for combat and one for adventure. This way you don't constantly have to switch between for example ressource and movement artifacts and combat artifacts. You would be able to customize both the adventure scheme and the combat scheme and equip both schemes with artifacts.
3) I would like a bigger backpack, 64 slots can easily be filled and then you can't take of your equiped artifacts and you can't earn new!
4) I don't know if this is possible either and maybe it is a chosen design feature, but creature abilities should'nt work after the creaturestack with the ability is dead. For example Arch Devils -2 luck, should'nt work when they are killed, neither should Arch Mages -2 to spell cost, Ghost Dragons -1 morale and so on.

What do you think and do you think any of this is possible?

1) There is Water Magic Skill to solve this problem

2) A good Idea, but not a priority (imho, of course). I remember a mod for Era that switches equip.

One of the main reason of might power could be link to the mass spell...

Yeah yeah i not even understand why "Crag-hack" can slow or haste all an entire army.

1. Balance the skills. Make Scholar and Eagle eye affect level 5 spells as well. Double the effects of Scouting, Navigation, Learning, Estates and Luck, make the Catapult able to attack creatures with Balistics, boost First aid so that it heals all creatures on Expert. Nerf Offense, Armorer and Necromancy.

2. Balance towns as well. Cove is fantastic but rather OP atm. Other towns could also get one or two creatures with double upgrades. Nerf Castle and Necropolis (skillies!), boost Inferno and Fortress. I'd even consider giving Fortress and Stronghold lvl 4 Mage guilds to make the Witch and the Battle Mage somewhat more worthwhile. Give all towns access to all the standard war machines (Stronghold's Ballista Yard can simply be replaced with a Canon Yard).

3. Remove useless Hero skills and replace them with something worthwhile.

4. Release the drafts of the Cathedral town, and develop it as quickly as possible. Please.

6. Even more campaigns with the same cheesy early 00's intro animations.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying.
Scholar and Eagle Eye definitely should affect level 5 spells making it 3/4/5 at basic/adv./exp. and Eagle Eye should also pick up spells from creatures casting spells like Genies, Fairie Dragons, Dragonflies, Ogre Mages and elementals. Maybe it could also pick up adventure spells, if an enemy is casting them, close to yours. Scouting is already boosted in HotA and I actually find it quite good now, I even pick it for my main hero some times. Try Beatrice or Miriam and you will find your way fast. Navigation is already very good, it of course depends on the map, if no water the skill is useless, if lots of water it's almost a neccesity. Learning needs a boosts yes, maybe double it's effect. Estates, Luck and Ballistics are fine imo, however it could be interesting making the catapult do damage to creatures as well, with Ballistics. First Aid healing all sounds like a good idea, but the tent is still extremely weak, ballista and cannon are also quite weak especially when looking at 2500 or 5000 gold. Offense and Armorer are fine and Necromancy was already halved as well as the artifacts, in HotA. (Cloak Of The Undead King is still extremely broken though)

And yes Cove is a strong town, perhaps a bit too strong, but I also understand not wanting to make a brand new town that sucks.
I consider Stronghold, Fortress and Inferno the weakest towns. Stronghold and Fortress are very limited in magic and they are also very slow towns, Stronghold lacks defense, while Fortress lacks offense. Inferno is easily destroyed, it's the town with the fewest hitpoints, but Arch Devils and negative luck improved Inferno a bit. Also Efreets and Devils are fast and Inferno has two creatures with no retalition, and Castle Gate is good with more Inferno Towns and no Town Portal. They can also abuse Armageddon with Efreets.

I would also like Cathedral, but hope it's not too similar to Castle and Necropolis. I would also like some more neutral creatures.

Re 1:
Double effect for Learning won't do it. Eagle Eye would still be quite situational with lvl5 support. Necromancy already has been nerfed.

Re 2:
Catapult attacking creatures besides Ballista/Cannon would be an unneeded redundancy (and would require new animations/sounds).
Battle Mages and Witches are the best Magic Heroes available.
Cannons in other towns than Cove ---> misplaced.
Overall town balance isn't that bad atm but multiplayer experience will show.

Re 3:
You'd have to go into detail here.

Fortress and Inferno (especially bigger maps) aren't too bad either.
Then you moan about the Might <--> Magic disparity yet demand improved Magic support for Stronghold and Fortress???
