Don't know what you mean about the last part of Stronghold and Fortress, I can understand them only having mage guild level 3(Stronghold at least) but this is already a major setback for them, as they won't naturally gain access to Town Portal, Resurrection, Prayer, Clone, Berserk, Fly, DD, Implosion etc.
They both have very slow units, and Fortress only have one pretty weak shooter and two weak fliers. Dragonflies are fast and annoying, but they won't last long, and Wyvern Monarchs with only 70 hp compared to Dread Knights 120, makes them look bad. Still I like Fortress very much and Water Magic do wonders for them (If they can learn the right spells)
Imo all shooters on Stronghold and Fortress should have no melee penalty, these guys are figthers and it would make perfect sense. (Orcs and Lizardmen are some of the few creatures without abilities.)

Can't tell if serious on the scouting part, you know I don't play competitive multiplayer, I only play for fun and in certain maps scoutng can be good (also on you main) To be able to see the map, can help you make better decisions of where to go next and save you time and movement points. You'll also notice enemy heroes or towns sooner and maybe they haven't seen you yet.

I consider Stronghold quite powerful. Them Barbarians!
Fortress and Inferno (especially bigger maps) aren't too bad either.
Then you moan about the Might <--> Magic disparity yet demand improved Magic support for Stronghold and Fortress???

a lot of people posting here lack experience in the actual game mechanics. hence the silly statements.

reasonable change i could see is to make no melee penalty units to be able to choose to strike melee on demand, like in heroes 4. or all shooters in that case.

not to overpower cyclops or orcs with no melee penalty or anything like that, haha

just an added feature for more dynamics and strategy in game

wouldn't you love your titans to dominate the battlefield, rather than sit in a corner with 300hp and 24 att/def ??

Not only for titans, also some weak ranged stack could take the retaliation blow if able to act as melee....Usefull in many circumstances

Yes at least make all ranged units able to attack in melee, if they choose to. That would allow for new tactics on the battlefield and would improve especially Tower a bit, which most people seem to believe is a quite weak town.

Who told you tower is weak town? Certainly not someone in HC. Stop spreading your grandma's Heroes III analysis.

Actually yes, Tower is very bad nowadays in competitive multiplayer. Except HotA where it got quite significant buff.

Meh, of course modern templates remove all the fun from the game and all battles are same in the end.

Tower without rules is a great town.

Yes Salamandre Tower without rules is a great town. But most multiplayer maps don't allow Town Portal, Fly and Dimension Door and that is bad news for Tower.

Guys I want to ask you a question. There is a mod called "legend of the red Dragon". In the mod there is a unit called "the red dragon". It has 1500 hp. But where can this unit be recruited? There is a building guarded by these dragons which is called "flying castle" but it is only guarded it doesn't allow you to recruit.

I will be very thanful if you remember the building where this dragon is recruitable?

On topic:

I love the cosmetics of hota and variable looking stuff. A good example are garrisons

This 'evil' design is cool. Would even be better if it added something extra.

Overall i think garrisons could use a buff. Else you could just place a random hero on the location...at least it boosts atk.

Ideas for (evil) garrison:
-give it a fort wall
-increase own morale
-decrease enemy morale
- give creatures on garrison +5 defence skill

Just a thought....

It'd be easier to see a new mod coming out of this thread than HOTA making any of those changes (even though there are a few reasonable balance options here). Like they said thousand of times, this isn't their priority. And honestly, a new mod would be better. I am yet to see a customizable HOMM3 mod without so many bugs.

The 160 wog mods playable on Era have zero bugs, don't know why you keep posting is buggy. I never have crashes and played them all. And there are mods proposing different spells system and power, modified hero skills and so on.

Only one mod is bugged but still proposed in download, Sagamosa, because of its learning potential, both for modders and scripters.

Zero bugs? I was playing yesterday and the first aid buffs are buggy (sometimes I don't get the ress/cure/animate spells, it says 0 health was recovered on the statistics even though some health was recovered), creature balance doesn't always give wyvern the health bonus. mysticism ignores the knowledge limit. Era helped stopping the random crashes but a lot of WOG features are messed up.

I specified era mods, not the wog from 2004 with its fancy options. That is obsolete and no one has the energy or motivation to fix.

Beside, some of the mods offer way more interesting game play variety, by extending the original mechanics, not changing them.

Anyone else find it really annoying when a ballista/cannon fires at a blinded target? Would it be possible to let ballista/cannon "defend" or skip their turn if last target is blinded?
And don't tell me I could just chose the artillery-skill, cause that sucks, when you are a wizard, witch etc.

*raises hand*. I understand that they don't want to give manual control to people without the skill, but they should have at least made it so that you can choose to have it defend instead of attacking a random target. I can't begin to count the number of times I destroyed my own ballista to prevent the battle from ending.
