Lexxan said: Gandhi hated me from the beginning although I never DoW'd anyone. So, i figured that it might be clever to elim him before he could build nukes and use them on me (ironically earning me the friendship of gorgo and the hatred of everyone else lol)
Same, well, minus me eliminating him... yet. He has declared war on me for no reason twice now. The first time was a turn after I met him. Such a violent little guy.

Currently at war with Egypt, apparently Cleopatra dislikes me for my weak army, but it proves enough to keep her at bay (just a handful of archers). I'm a bit disappointed by the AI here for it's lack of strategical depth in its decision making, I get the impression that it tunnel visions objectives and receiving casualties does little to dissuade that. I even saw a linked settler brought to battle, lol.

Holy crap warcarts are OP, literally spammed 20 of those things, replacement of chariot that requires no horses or technology (no wheel required!), most importantly no upkeep, so spam away! Finally resistant to anti cavalry so pikes don't counter them, and they cost 10 production less than normal chariots, just soooo good.
Also Building Ziggurats all over the place for ****s and giggles, it gives two science but idk, this game science just doesn't have the same priority as in civ 5 I could be wrong though.

Science is pretty insignificant, yeah. Mostly because the AI doesn't prioritize campuses, so it's not that difficult to keep track of them. CULTURE is however, is way more difficult to come by and essential imo.
Cleopatra hates civs with lower military score than her, but it's hardly relevant for her as she just spams out chariots and never upgrades them. She hated me too when I played as Cathérine de Médici and then flipped to loving me once I recruited 5 Artillery and 3 Tanks, lol. She remained my ally for the remainder of the game.
I've set the AIs in my new game to all those I haven't met in my France game + Gorgo because lolGorgo. Pericles and Frederick are insanely easy to befriend if you ignore city states. So is Teddy if you start on a different continent. Monty and Trajan are complete dickheads though (though Monty gets a wee bit friendlier if you sell him your spare luxes)
(btw can we also discuss that angry Trajan looks exactly like Littlefoot from 'The Land Before Time'?)
Brazil game is going really well. I'm landlocked, so their battleship will be useless to me, but I really like the jungle adjecency bonuses for Theatre Squares and spammable Entertainment complexes. I've had real issues with both in my France game and Brazil is pretty much the only Civ other than Japan and Greece who can get a significant culture flow going.

The AI is pretty bad. I have been a complete warmonger as Rome and after conquering my 18th city, France decides to declare war against me. After quickly taking over its capital due to a lack of defenses, I was disappointed to discover that was the only city it had. Why declare war if you have 1) one city and 2) no defenders?
I do like the perpetual denouncements though.
(Thinks you are a warmonger)
Well, duh.
Currently, I'm at war with India, Kongo, and Arabia, with the Norse quickly following. I cannot help but laugh when crossbowmen try to take down my helicopters.

I'm pretty sure Settler difficulty is not supposed to be a challenge Omega
Disappointing AI aside, some features could use some improvement. For example city expansion. I can't for the life of me find how, when and where my cities are expanding. Or city razing. How exactly is instant razing balanced at all? The interface could use some more work too. And background audio bugs on me for some reason, really annoying.

I can only imagine how bad it is on Settler. I play on Prince and think I will need to jack it up to get any sort of challenge.

Epic and huge, eh? I always play on huge but don't tamper with the turn times. It was brutal in Civ 5 and, somehow, I suspect it is worse in Civ 6.
I usually don't turn up the difficulty too much because I hate how the "difficulty" is implemented.

i think there's always one AI that doesn't expand. last game Brazil was all alone in one corner of the map and by the time I discovered him (with the satellite) he still had one city. The game before that Gilgamesh also never expanded beyond his capitol. Seems like a bug to me.

I am not sure. Brazil had only one city as well.
While domination is certainly not my preferred way to achieve victory, it seems to be the easiest. Science takes a really long time, culture is kind of boring, and religion seems like a huge hassle. I miss the UN victory.

Emperor is pretty fun so far, although i've kind of reached the point where the AI won't DoW me anymore, and therefore will no longer pose a threat to me. I think i'll try my hand at immortal next, if this keeps up.
Epic speed is undoable at this stage imo. With production costs going through the roof like that, you'll be behind for an obscene amount of time. Standard speed will do for me, k, thx and bye.
Religious victories are fairly easy if you have monastic isolation and never consume your apostles last charge. Just park them on holy sites of your religion and defend as the AI throws their apostles at you (tag them out once their health is lower than 40)

Peter's bonus is useless when you are the science world leader and I always am. So now I am at war with England and am ravaging their lands and slaying their armies (archers and chariots) with one Cossack, it's pathetic. But since everyone hates you since the stone age I doubt I will ever have peace with anyone. I mean really, no one likes me but Rome because of Russia's city founding bonus.

Epic speed is just right for me, it keeps the pacing at around 50 turs per era and that's plenty of time for things to happen on the map. I don't like it when you get so big that you build stuff in one turn, or by the time you create a unit and travel around a bit there's already a better one available. But I guess it all boils down to preference.

Brazil game update:
Ally Count: 4 (I mean, Frederick, Pericles, Teddy and Qin are SO easy to befriend, it's almost farsical)
Era count: Rome just reached the information era in 1240 AD (i suppose they beelined computers or something obnoxious like that?). Meanwhile, I've just finished gunpowder woohoo!!
Also, monty is in the atomic era. I can tell because Jerusalem rebelled against him and spawned four barb infantry, who beat up his entire effing army. ownt. Except for the fact that he's my neighbour and i have to fight them off with xbows and swordsmen oops.

Okay, I just found out that I can view the progress of players towards a certain victory type. Turns out that at around turn 150 and near the Renaissance era I'm leading on Conquest and Culture. Literally lmao. I never expected to do so well. Perhaps the fact that I turned Cleopatra's war around her helped quite a bit. Meanwhile on the same continent, Tokugawa and Frederick are at each other's throats, but the mountains, rainforest and positioning of their cities make it such that they can't take any objectives, so their in perpetual war which works amazingly for me. Soon enough I'll be able to amass some advanced troops and claim the whole continent for myself!
Needless to say, I'm having a lot of fun

Well, the current state of diplomacy has killed the game for me. I tried playing as China on King difficulty, thinking that I would be fine if I could get some room to grow. I didn't have much in the way of units, so I was not surprised about getting dragged into war with Russia and America in about 20 turns in. Playing on King, the idiot AI is given a +20% production boost, so it can replenish its forces at an absurd rate. Admittedly, it wasn't looking good.
Eventually, I capture an American and a Russian city. America sued for peace around turn 60 but Russia would not settle for anything. It just kept pumping out war chariots it would not attack with. Given that I pretty much just had archers and one warrior, I couldn't go too far on the offensive. It was miserable. Even worse is the ridiculous war weariness factor. If the computer is never willing to negotiate peace, I'll just be stuck with more and more unhappiness until my productivity plummets further.
What really drove the nail in for that particular game is that I was rushing a wonder with builders and when I was one turn away, I got snaked. I got no notice of another civilization completing the wonder either. So until the game is patched, it's being shelved.
Oh and alcibiades, it's time I the world of your sins!
(Publicly Denounces Alcibiades. They think you are a warmonger.)
