Yes but the option is only selectable in World Builder, no? I couldn't find it in game options. So you must first prepare your map with that option.

Okay, I played a game with a couple of buddies a month back (since then uni started so not much time to play, plus we ended on a really really bad note). Essentially I was China, other peeps were Rome, England, Spain, Zulu and Iroquois (he got depressed and bored ).

Anyway, I essentially steam rolled over England with my Chukos, obviously since he's a fat **** he cried for help even b4 his first city fell, so my Spanish buddy rushed to his aid and started invading from the west (england to the north), and Zulus to the east thought it would be funny to attack, (meanwhile Iroqs and Rome were crying about their god awful starts and just afk played which reduced the fun factor somewhat).

So China is craaazy strong both on offence and defence, I held off hordes of english longbowmen and ships of the line, friggin impi legions from the east (my capital was huuuge and the crossroads between everyone). Finally vast raiding parties of pike/crossbow and conquistadors from the west (particularly annoying, cause they kept burning my roads). Kinda felt like that heroes campaign, all the hate on me.

Eventually I more or less won, Spain forfeited (he blamed England for being too much of a **** to ally with him earlier which was funny , Joe the Zulu guy was just chillin, Rome and Iroquois got bored, Iro forfeited, and England wanted to carry on till a winner was decided.

With my flanks secured I assembled my army and moved on England, it was insane fighting on three fronts, Zulus were the most difficult due to sheer numbers, England was being an utter hoe bag by using hit and run with longbows, Spain went into open battle and tried to take my outer cities, I easily transported units to defend them and eventually with a small army started moving into his territory. So yeah England was the only left to fight, after that I called it done (no point carrying on).

I generate my maps in world builder, to avoid the random nonsense we get sometimes. So I also choose colors for the random civs to come, because some colors I simply can't distinguish on grass. So is all random, but between red/blue/white/orange and yellow.

Also, the new Beyond Earth xpac hits this week

We'll see if it manages to save the game from being utter poop like Civ5's xpac's did for that

I was hating this game, but now that I can scratch inside, I love it and start to respect the guys who worked on. Now making a mod about custom policies when playing OCC -one city challenge. Half of existing policies are worthless in this type of play and is the only type I like, others take way too much time to complete.

Finished the Tradition branch. 8 more to go, Machiavelly guy inspiration.

I like the legalism one, would allow you to rush some of those pesky really good merchant wonders (ones that give merchant points like collossus) without the risk of getting a great merchant since you can just focus engineers/scientists immediately.

It's a solid dlc and a step in the right direction imho. It's not quite there yet, but the game is definately more enjoyable now.

Did you guys notice something in this game? If your cities are in turmoil, because of your warmongering, you create entertainers to calm them. As a teen this blew my mind as I was starting to understand our world.

Nowadays we are being entertained like never before.

Rising tide is basically a lot of stuff that should have been there from the start

The game's still missing a few bits n bobs here and there, but you can now actually play it instead of skipping to civ 5 everytime

On the complaint side I find it hilarious they made all these expansive water mechanics and added a ton of water stuff yet the AI is still bonkers at using them

The liberty branch is done. Note that meritocracy adds one full ring of workable tiles to every city. Will add the last ring with patronage so you can get 128 tiles workables. Which means >300 pop for optimal cities. As the whole code is about optimizing the capitals-we play with capital only- AI gets some important bonuses as -50% acquiring policies cost reduction and +3 pop to every new city.
