*sigh*

First of all, these were Heavenly Forges, not Celestial.
Second, Archibald didn't have anything common with Forge town - he was exiled from Deyja at the end of MM7 by his advirsors.
Third, these advisors, let by Kastore - one of heroes from Terra (default team in MM3), were minds behind Forge. They activated one at the evil end of MM7.

Heavently Forges are nothing more then replicators from Star Trek - they copy nearly all things which you put in them - so you have plenty of ancient weapons but very little of troops. That is why we saw and heard of Naga, Minotaurs, Ogres or Magogs in Forge armies. Goblins and Undead were native citizents of Deyja, from where Forge originated (Kastore become king of Deyja after he banished Archibald).

Armageddon's Balde wasn't forged like in AB campaign or reforged - it was discovered by Catherine, Roland and Gelu in Ancient Vault (as you can see in AB intro). With it Catherine menages to destroy all Forge cities and stop Archibald's advisors. The ending supposed to be the same - [s]the Kreegan[/s] Forge towns are destroyed and Armageddon's Blade ends in Gelu hands.

Thank you Avonu for the corrections

They have the legal right to implant anything they want, yes. They can put in the robocop if they desire to do so. But that's quite beside the point.

I don't think it is. My true belief is that creators have the artistic right to do whatever they want to do, pleases people or not.

That would drive me, as a customer, away

From a business point of view, this is very relevant. From a creating one, in my opinion is not at all. I don't understand why people are still militating against Forge when there is like zero chance that we will get it from Ubi.

It's not beside the point because they don't have the right, it's beside the point, because answering a complaint based on style as if it is about a plot hole is irrelevant.

You still didn't convince me. The plot is what will define the style, to me they are tied together. You don't have a fantasy game without a plot, or do you ?
But maybe this is the wrong place for this debate.

Oh, most certainly! But the people have the right to not like their artistic vision, and therefore not buy the product, pleases creators or not.

@Galaad

Well, I already told you what I think about the weight of plot in such matters, it's just a filler. De facto, it determines nothing. They make up the plot according to the game along the way, not the game according to the plot. Forge or anything else wasn't suggested in a computer game because they had a wonderful story. So, yes, let's just agree to disagree on this one.

Yet I agree with this, and agree on disagree, you still manage to keep the discussion open
The whole thing of trying to link the HoMM universe with M&M one is something that has my appreciation at least. I need to gather thoughts and I will try to expand my reasoning, probably elsewhere in the forum

Which is exactly why chances of seeing the Forge implemented by Ubisoft are practically -if not totally- inexistent.

Which is a good thing imo.

Yet, there is still hope for some steampunkish future even with Ashan. There is something about an ironship made by a dwarf somewhere if I recall. I wouldn't mind Fortress going a more technological approach, with cannons and mechanical stuff. Just please no high tech with glass buildings and lasers.

To each their own. Personally, Heroes of Might and Magic II was the last game that had a pure, heraldic, somewhat fairy tale, somewhat classic fantasy atmosphere I wouldn't want butchered by the Forge. The third game was, in term of graphics, art design and writing, so close to Might and Magic VI and VII that I can't help but consider it an extension to those game, and when they removed the Forge from Armageddon's Blade, Heroes of Might and Magic III somewhat lost its bite in my opinion .

What if I say that h2 forge is in works?

No really, the sci-fi stuff appeared in MM1-5 as well, which are parental to HoMM1-2. The concept can be varied, but it's pretty much possible to invent. Sheltem FTW, he has an awesome concept combining fantasy style with the sci-fi background.

I'd shake my fist at you!

Seriously, if that was the case, I would none the less have fun with it, just like I had playing Might and Magic III all the way to VII, that being said, the atmosphere I cherish so dearly because it is so damn perfect, that atmosphere would get thrown out the window real quick.

Keep up the good tho! Your mod is right now the one mod I cannot wait to get my hands on since the second Heroes game holds a very special place in my heart.

If you mean The Succession Wars Mod, it is not intended to have the Cyborg class on the official basis

But still there are some more projects, and all of you will know about them very soon.

At the end this is nice.
Hopefully AB and SoD will come afterwards, would be great if ERA could be implemented without much harm later on.

The only thing I like in the coming game is the hero portraits. Yet, Lord Haart has become worse, too much young in comparison.
