I admit that you are right, I didn't like ubisoft rakshasa that much, but actually it may look good enough for H3, I am quite satisfied with the outcome.

Now, I said some time ago, that town should be finished in the second half of this year, but I am still struggling with an units. I would like to finally close this chapter and focus on the town screen, and also the rest of remaining aspect of the projects. I know I said i won't show units until they are ready, but then- they are not.

So let's play a little with a coloring book (Back to kindergarten YAY). I am capable to realize that unit scheme may be quite monotonous (though inferno and basic tower are like this), but at the same time I am unable to make it look more interesting, so I have prepared current version of tones along with the version for you to color it yourself. I hope that we have some artists with an good eye here, I would really appreciate help with it.



(Also note, that rakshasa is an 6lvl alternative unit for scorpion, and is still in a concept phase)


Also, we were aiming to relase a town with a campaign, but with VCMI development getting really slow lately we may have to wait a bit longer to present a story behind the town.

One more thing, I would love to see this town for a platform which is actually playable, so in this case it would be ERA, so if anyone would be interested to swap it with another, just let me now.

wow! i just love this your creatures!

Your choice of colors looks great, i like your vision revolving around the line-up. The only thing that does not make sense to me is why is the upper body of the lvl 5 creature is becoming black in the upgrade.

Im thinking the sand to be of the same color as the lower body part. This way, you reduce the evil ('darkness') look of the line-up. I would let the armor be the only visual upgrade so you can use a rank title in the name of the upgraded version (the role of the shoulder pads is to show the rank among the army).

Now, about that town screen...if you havent started it are you considering the idea of making it like the Academy from H5 (a floating city)?

i'd keep both, and move the others down accordingly, after getting rid of the wasps. imo, they are the only weak link in your lineup. all the others are top-notch, and worthy of your town.

Generally the first idea was for all creatures to become darker with an upgrade, however it turned out it was a bad idea estetically. The idea for town was to be evil at the beginning, though our storyline turned from there some time ago.

You are another person suggesting to move town to clouds. We will see what suit town more.

Yes, I know that the wasp was the weakest of the pack. I had a lot of problem with this creature, especially to make it fit with others, so meantime I decided to make M&M inspired Dervish. Will see if I would have enough patience to animate her, but the idea of moving everything down accordingly may be an easier and better idea.

Hm, a pity, I kinda liked the concept of the Wasps. I'd have made the Scorpions a neutral (loosely associated with the Desert town).

AWESOME. that unit is SO much better than the wasp. and she fits like a glove with the other units(meaning, they all look like they belong to the same town).

i'd say your lineup is now complete.

While I enjoyed the Cove faction, I really like this Oasis lineup more-- it's more imaginative for one thing. So (for me anyway) this is the absolute best of the fully realized fan-made lineups so far. Absolutely splendid job!

Yep... way better, but still I find some more desert native creatures are also nice, in case of wasp I like the dervish... I wish I had your skills, I would build my own nordic city. with vikings, valkyries and a lvl7 stealthy grendel...

some other mentionioning: sabre dancer, war drummer, illusionist are also very suiting for your setting.

While scorpion is going to stay for sure I am not sure what to do about Wasps. Now we have two cat-like humanoid, which are rakshasa and ugallu. While it makes sense in a town story, it is kind of the same concept repeating itself in a line up, so maybe it will be smarter to keep wasp instead of ugallu. We will be discussing it inside team.

Well, I wish it was too - but I doubt it will happen. Pray for VCMI to get better.
Any dropped creature will become neutral if it is good enough.

Anyone can learn 3D if they want to. It requires some time, but it is not a dark magic if you are dedicated. Just download Blender and watch some tutorials for easy start.

Here is first 3D model for Oasis I've done 23.06.2014 and also one of the first 3D works I've ever done.

I would say it is possible to make your own town after a year of work if you are not that picky as I am.

If I would add another human-creature it won't be any good.

I like both cats... cats and egyptians fit well... also in "evolution" this could have happened... the uggulu also could be outcasts like thieves, stealing from others and caravans. Just make your own story and campaign around it It'll fit somehow.

I've watched a lot blender stuff in the past. I think I'm not very talented to build anything really complex from scratch... I'm good with 2D Arts... better with pencil and paper... lots of 2D Game mods aswell. Btw. how much polygons do your models have?

And I'm hell picky... It'll never be perfect enough... But maybe I gonna give it a try... I better make some concepts first... maybe also apply to a team or something before, some brainstorming e.g. But I also really love other games... like XCOM2, I want to build mods there too, so... It's good to learn this stuff anyways, also its a nice jobchance aswell, CAD for example and other stuff you may do with it... as for the soundtrack of a new town I would try to get "Chris Many" if he still does music for mods... awesome stuff he did with "Ultima 5 - Lazarus" http://lazarus.thehawkonline.com/music.html

Wow, amazing looking! I like how you toned down the color on the snake and scorpion (unupgraded). The lamasu should definitely stay as a statue, but I'm not a fan of its coloring here, it doesn't fit IMO. I'd keep the previous Lamasu coloring. I still like the wasp though, I hope you keep it as a neutral unit.

Also, Rakshasa has an amazing design and fits in perfectly, but alternate units feel un-HOMM3, like a WoG feature. Will Rakshasa be the only exception here as an alt unit, like the cove's third pirate upgrade? I think one is fine to give the town as a gimmick to set it apart, but any more will make it start to feel radically different from HOMM3 towns.

could you do second upgrades?

if yes  I may try to port the  city  into ERA, using script similair to dragon peaks. Yet still I didn't  tried something like this. sadly in this approach there would be no additional heroes for oasis.

Background: I am doing huge mod which mainly adds creatures, first additional upgrades then neutrals. I didn't incorporated towns yet but I know that after training  I would be able  to. there are two types of new town i may include - Neutral town with all dwellings built, normal towns which have buildings to build and have additional building(s) to  upgrade all 7 levels of creature one upgrade further (base->upgrade->2nd upgrade).

PS: if you wish to release it under VCMI tey still support 2nd upgrades.

PLZ thought supporting it
