Do I need WoG?

This looks amazing, one of the better mods I've seen!! I have a question though, when this is eventually released will I have to have WoG to play it? I only have Homm3 Complete, HoTA, and HD mod, and I really don't want to have to download WoG because frankly it looks awful :L

I am not sure how much of WoG is actually active in VCMI, but it took me quite awhile to get used to the whole commanders thing in the game. In truth though it's not so terribly bad.

In all honesty, while there's a lot that looks good, there's also stuff that looks out of place: Mismatch in graphics style, perspective of the object relative to the rest or simply recognizable as an item from another game.

True, but you can disable anything you don't like now, it's not like 3.58f days any longer. This argument is completely outdated.
Wog has IMO some of the most epic and gorgeous scenario maps ever created for the series and its map Editor is incredibly rich and powerful as of today.

Right, so let me get this straight. VCMI is a fan-made expansion that doesn't need WoG and adds a load of optional new features and one of these planned features is Oasis?

It's not an expansion. It's heroes3 code written from the scratch. So it's incompatible with any fan expansion. WoG and Cove has its own VCMI (partialy) ports.

Yes, you must ave full copy of SoD or H3 Complete installed, because VCMI uses H3 resources (graphics, music, sounds etc.). And has it's own exe (launcher). VCMI support higher resolutions, so it is also some kind of HD mod. But don't expect full H3/H3 mod functionality - it is far from finish, for example AI is bad. Very bad. Just read appriopate VCMI thread.

Everything is getting improved, as always. Here is current line up. Lamassu was hard to balance, and beside I wasn't able to make good upgrade - so we have decided to move him for 8 lvl as campaign unit. Instead we will have glass cannon Rakshasa as the strongest unit in town:



The least I am satisfied with currently is scorpion. Hopefully better textures will be enough to improve.

I guess we should release alpha version, since it is taking so long now and improve with incoming realeses, but damn - I am perfectionist, and it will hurt to present something I am not yet satisfied with

Hmm what about, once the dancer has hit a target, it cripples it somehow (reduces speed for example)?

About the Raks I immediately think of multiple hits like Hydra but maybe it would be redundant.

So basically hit-on effect. Might be interesting, but since it is 2lvl unit, and utility of "slowing" down enemies is kind of provided by sand ghost's quicksand, it might be OP. Another effect could work though.

As for Rakshasa, it's 7lvl and 4 arms. As far as I remember there are two units with more limbs (let's count in hydra's head for this purpose). Thematically attacking adjacent hexes, or no relatation would double with similar units. Gotta think of something different
