The quality, originality and sheer amount of your work is quite remarkable, Nephretes. Not all of it is quite on the same polish level as some of the work that has been released by the HotA crew, but it seems it might only be a matter of time if you keep at it.

The Snakeman do seem very polished on that last HD render, I must say.

Once I was trying to push Oasis for next HotA town, but it was a bad idea. Current project is only for VCMI, so in other words it is not compatible with HotA.

Besides it is unlikely that you will see any next town for Horn of Abyss in a distant future.

The only way to have both of those towns in game is by instaling Cove port on VCMI and Oasis separately. However you have to know that Cove port for VCMI is not yet completed, not all HotA features are available, and some of them may work differently.

So basically it is for you to decide
1) You want to have fully realized Cove with all HotA features: you should install their mod, but you won't have any possibility to affect it.
2) You are wishing for additional content (extra town as well) and more freedom in choosing what you want to have in your game: install VCMI and future Oasis release

I don't know if anyone is working on Cove port now, but if we assume that it will be upgraded as VCMI is getting closer to final state, one day you would have an opportunity to have both Oasis and all HotA features together.

No problem, that only really removes my ability to have Oasis/Cove battles against each other. I'm more than willing to install VCMI just for Oasis and simply run the separate modules of the game whenever I feel like playing with Cove or Oasis.

It is absolutely impossible and unacceptable.


First, HotA is a project, not the amount of components that can be interchanged. If you start to change, then it would not be HotA, but something completely different. Even if well-intentioned act.
Second, HotA - the project is now developing. Each time the project is changing - its reflection must also change, with fast. The engines are different, and therefore have difficulties. Great difficulties.

I am not interested in discussing if HotA should give more freedom or not, I may have my own opinion about it, but this is not the right topic to argue about it, as Oasis is a project exclusively for VCMI.

With the design aspect getting close to completion, how long do you anticipate it will take to decide on unit stats, abilities, town buildings, and balancing for the faction? I imagine it will be quite an undertaking.

Anyway, no hurry, as we are still missing some graphics, not mentioning creature's improvements which I am doing lately.

Are you only working on unit animations or have other aspects been updated? For example, the town screen is probably one of the most iconic and important things about a town in heroes, has that changed at all or is the one posted in this thread the most up to date?

Currently 3rd version of town screen is in a design phase. Some of the buildings have to be improved or remade from scratch, as those were some of my early works which doesn't meet current quality standards. This is a work planned after alfa version completion.

Sorry to hear that. Do you have any more information to share regarding HotA's next town? More specifically what you mean by "it is unlikely that you will see any next town for Horn of Abyss in a distant future.". Has the Forge been scrapped?

As for Oasis I agree with Winston. I'll probably just download VCMI for the sake of Oasis and play that whenever I feel like it. No big deal. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your progress.

You should check comment section on their facebook fanpage to find necessary informations. With this said I hope we won't discuss anything connected to HotA from now on.

Good to hear that you guys are ready to install VCMI just for Oasis, but on the other hand it is making me quite nervous to meet the expectations
Until then I recommend you Forge which was released some time ago by the group I am currently involved in (Mod Design Team)

Nervous about expectations? 90% of VCMI towns looks fresh out of trash can with recycled stuff. This town is a highlight compared to others.

Here is another project for new town hall. Normally I would show it textured, but since I am going to use more photorealistic engine to render it first I have to learn more



Perhaps it is a little to detailed, but who cares :E
