ICTC8 -Judging Thread

Hello everybody. I thought I'dalreadyopen thisand you might ask yourselfwhy...the reason is that at least I am planning to judge by certain criteria and I want to telll all of you what I expect of your factions, how I am planning to judge them, roughly, now, just so you know. I hope that any other member willing to judge will do the same.

And later on, of course, this thread can be used to present the scores andwinners and so on.

Jiriki's judging criterias
Basically, I am going to judge in 3 "fields":
-Gameplay, which obviously means all ingame aspects: units, heroes, town, etc. In this field I look for creativity/originality, playability & balance.
-Background, which may include History, society, faction relations and similar setting informations. Score here is given for creativity and inner logic.
-Ambience, by which I mean both how much the faction "feels whole", how good the single parts (f.e. ingame&background, but also units&town, etc.) fit together and such, but also how the looks (no matter wether given in pictures or descriptions!) of the ingame elements seem to fit them.
In all fields, of course, I'll also try to estimate how much work has been put in and how detailed the information is, but a more detailed faction is not necessary gonna score better than a well done faction with a bit fewer details!

Those look like solid criteria. I'll use the same for my judging

while I'm here, as it is also somehow a criteria...for top scores of course, a faction needs a bit of completeness for me. This means information is needed on units (Full lineup and at least short ingame infos on each unit), heroes (at least class and racial skill/s, if existent) and town (on gameplay side at least the specific town defenses (which towers and moat) and special buildings) as well as a bit of background, of course (Which background exactly is not strictly defined, it can be Society, History, Religion, etc. Important is that it gives a feeling of what the faction is about beyond gameplay). And of course anyone is free to do things beyond!

So. I'll spare a minute now to talk about judging. First let's see what was said before:

Quote:
The judging will be done by a small number of people willing to judge the entries. Participants can be judges as well, but then they do, of course, not judge their own faction(s). The judges will give points to each entry (and every judge will judge every entry (except their own)!) and send them to the judging coordinator (who is to be announced yet), who will sum up the judgements to the final scores and post these, as well as the judgement of each judge, in the judging thread.
There are no pre-given criterias for the judges, but everybody who wants to be judge must give the criterias by which they judge (best not one week before the Deadline!) and they should give a short verbal feedback. Also, the maximum points possible will be fixed, to prevent chaos in creating the final scores.

We also have the Judges:
-blizzardboy
-DagothGares
-Husham123
-Jiriki9
-Steyn

As no one else has volunteered, I will play the role of the judging coordinator, to whom the scores are sent first.
We did not discuss Max points so far, but I think it would be reasonable to have a maximum of 20 points per judge. So every judge will give a score from 0 to 20 to each faction, as well as the reasons for the score, and SEND THEM TO ME VIA HCM! I will then count up the scores (which, if all who said so will judge, could theoretically range from 0-100) of all factions and post them here in the order of scores.
Wether we show which judge gave which score I  want to ask you, or more precisely: My fellow judges. Would you be okay with that or do you want to keep it secret? You can tell me here or via HCM. I will also write an hcm to all judge linking here.
Greetings to all of you,
Jiriki9

I'm not sure I get it, are you just going to tally the score and post it here or will there be proper feedback posts for each faction judged?

Umm,i guess i will have to tell only my judging criterias, but the results shall be kept secret for the public, at least at the moment.
So, I am going to judge in 5 fields. My criterias are:
1.Creativity (It consist on how much ideas, or how much sure, or decided was the creator of the town)
2.Gameplay (How much awsome could it be in-game to play with that castle.)
3.Background (Actually this consists in the history, religion and main likely the description of the towns)
4.Ambience (As Jiriki sayd upper, you know what is it about)
5.Might & Magic (How much those fields uppside fits the game, whatever version is it.
So, hope you done a good job, as i saw to many, but at least is good you tryed, and that's why i do respect ALL the participants of ICTC

For now, only scores. I, personally, will also give feedback for each faction! But I wanted to give the option to the judges not to have it clear who judged how. Unless the majority of the participants would find that really unfair.

I don't mind getting an anonymous score, but if the judges send you some constructive feedback along with their score, I would ask you to relay it to the participants in one form or another. Somewhat like the HC Sociogram.

I would like this as well. Some feedback and a reason why I get the score I do from a few judges would be nice.

To make it clear for all Judges: Do NOT post any of your scores openly until all other judges have done their judging! Send the scores and the reasons for them to me as judging coordinator. The judging procedure was very clearly defined and follows the purpose of a judging that is as fair as possible!

I don't mind having my name under my score and my criticism. Also, I'd like to pull out my faction from the competition. I was ambushed by oodles of things to do recently.

Personally, I prefer judging to be done openly, but if people don't feel comfortable with this, then I will bow down to the will of the people.

Guess it is good that you sayd this.
But you don't have to pull out your faction, because peoples would at least see it, and likely appreciate it
But, if you wish to get out of the competition (by the meaning that your topic will remain, but it will not be judged), then it's ok

Yeah, just: if this competition happens next year I want to finish the faction, since I've had a bunch of good ideas in it.

That does not exclude it being judged this year. Especially since with the judging also comes feedback, which might give you ideas for next time.

Sure, and the feedback shall give you important info that you shall use/remove/edit the next time when another ICTC will came out.
And yes, it will be judged, but only if you have a real-big creativity, you are not gonna earn 0 points .
Just kidding. Just take care of you, ok ?
Since yesterday was my birthday, i had to leave a bit that judging
But,let's say that you shall earn a big feedback, allowing you not to do the mistakes you might have done. Hope you understanded, i am using many soffisticated words xD, so much gentle, that I shall shot myself xD.
Better next year

Typically there isn't a date, I was just wondering if the judges might be getting close/ keeping this alive to keep the thread fresh.
