Ukrainian beau monde ritually eats a 'child cake'

This video, appeared recently, shows the Ukrainian beau monde eating a "child cake" representing a child over a Russian flag. For those who are not aware, this is an irony made of the classics of propaganda exaggeration, as we all remember the phrase "the enemy eats children". The action was held in a Kievan club party "Vatnik Goda", with "vatnik" being an insult towards people supporting the general Russia government agenda, both international and country-wide. This term is also used by Russian opposition, the so-called "liberal" lobby.

I put aside all emotions of that video, and I would like to ask everyone, especially the European citizens here, what do they think of such action. I should remind that Ukraine pretends on the civilized European nation status according to its recent plans for the integration in the European Union.

According to the random info not checked by me personally, there are also some Russia citizens affiliated with the liberal (i.e. ~anti-Putin) lobby.

VIDEO LINK

P.S. Warning, the end of the video contains a few depictions of dead/wounded Donbass children (the video is seemingly reuploaded with the propaganda elements) to draw parallels with the club action and results of the real war on the East of Ukraine. I will try to find the original video.

They cut a cake in the form of a baby sleeping on top of the Russian flag and that, if I got you correctly, is a protest of Russia killing babies which is an exaggeration of the facts or mere propaganda?

So, most propaganda is BS and tasteless, stupid stuff. I dont see what the big deal is, isnt this more like VW stuff?

It is a black-humored demonstration of "being as bad as we are imagined by you so we eat Russian babies for breakfast".

The big deal is morality of the action itself and using serious matters as a bad joke since it was reported by UNESCO about many children being killed during the fighting. Wasn't there people who insisted on removing the "rape" word in the "ubisoft mistreating the franchise" thread?

According to the info by the participants of the action, there also were some meals with their names stylized under the anti-Russian theme: the one for example being the "Black Burgers of Odessa" in regards to the Odessa burning of the Trade Union center with more than 40 people dead from fire/falling from height/beating by Maidan activists.

The menu also features some dishes with names joking over Obama, Serbs and the Volyn massacre.

The image is in Ukrainian though.

You have information, but you are lacking a point, what are you trying to say Orzie? Of course I retain enough intelligence to be able to infer a point, but assumptions and speculation are habits I aim to shirk.

I think they don't call themselves yanks, but the northerners yanks. If my memory serves me right, a southerner calling a northerner "yankee" is even a little pejorative, or was back in the day.

Edit: Yes, checked it out here:
It was most notably used to describe to the Federal Solders and other Northerners by the Confederates during the Civil War Era. Even though some foreigner’s refer to all American’s as Yankees, does not make it so. Call a Southerner a Yankee and he’ll think you’re either just plain dumb or that you are trying to pick a fight.

I am checking your reaction. If you are okay with that, it's also okay. A lack of result is also the result.

The point is that in many Russian people's opinions, such Russophobic actions serve as a demonstration of Ukrainian citizens' will to even step over the boundaries of general morale to show their disgust to everything related to Russia and Soviet heritage. There are a lot of casualties amongst the innocent people (children included) of the Ukrainian East, and they make fun of them just because they might have supported the opposition to the new Ukrainian government, regardless if they did support or just became hostages of the war situation since Ukraine didn't evacuate anyone from there.

There are also some references to Bandera and his army collaborating with Nazis in the WWII (like the Volyn massacre), which is currently presented as the "liberation" army of Ukraine against the USSR.

If you don't see anything wrong in this video/the club party aspects in general - this is also an answer to my question.

I don't know why they use this flag which really resembles the Confederate flag, but it has become one of the Ukrainian rebels official symbols. Wiki seems to have some info.

if we bash one ethnic group, it is racism. or some other "ism". this however does not apply to Russians and Muslims. so fellow comrades, bash away. this vatnik will do no harm to you.

oh please.
if it was a black or jewish baby shaped cake it will be an "ism". or if it was a Prophet Muhammad shaped cake, then there would be exploding public transport or the bakers murdered by "muslims" or as I like to call them "radicals", degenerate waste of humanity pretending to bow to Allah.

this isn't black humor. it's pretty sad actually. this whole Ukraine crap was brought onto them by themselves. with some help from the outside with shiny euro and promises of a "brighter tommorow".

And if you're doing such garbage like eating a baby shaped cake with a flag of some nation, you aren't satirizing anyone. you're sunk to the same low as the people you claim to "oppose".

I wonder how Ihor's doing. Most likely the lad was killed in the warzone of donbass. He was such a stout supporter of this revolution, I bet he was one of the first to sign up for "pacifying the rebels".

Ura.

Well, dude, I cant imagine how a jewish baby would look significantly different to tell you the truth but if it was a black baby and the emphasis was on the baby's skin color, that would be a different thing, yes. If it was Muhammed and some jihadists killed the bakers, people would be blaming the killers, not the jokers, so that's also a different situation.

But the thing is, the motive is not racial here, it's a nationalistic conflict and that's not the same as the discriminative issues Orzie puts in comparison. If, say, there was some conflict or dispute between Germany and France, they would do all sorts of jokes with each others flags and saying "sure sure, we eat babies" is not exactly teasing about the actual baby deaths, it's implying you dont take the accusation seriously. So, I dont think it makes much sense to compare it to what Orzie indicates it should be compared to.

Yeah, that's the matter, practically. At least it's that's how we take it. I remember Ukrainians attacking the Russian embassy in Kiev as if they were not a civilized nation anymore, but a bunch of scum let to Europe to take the lowest niche instead of immigrants from Africa. Well, many people think they are. Also, they made an insult of Putin a national anthem, which is also underlining their counter-culture aspects. If they spent more time developing peace and agreement between different groups of population instead of developing a high degree of russophobia in a nationalistic impulse, their country would be in a much better shape now, and there would be no Crimean crisis.

Unfortunately it seems that yes, Ihor might have been already deceased for the counterfeit ideas of the new Ukrainian government. Poor dude, he has likely become another pawn in dirty politic games of two big nations.

Quote:
Germany and France

Don't lose your authority to me, dude. You cannot compare Germany-France and Russia-Ukraine relations at all. They are just not the same in any angle of view.

Ukraine was a sister country of Russia up until the recent events. Everyone on the video speaks Russian, although the party menu is written in Ukrainian. And now, while it's the war on the East of Ukraine where people who sympathize Russia (and those who don't whatsoever) die innocently of the city bombardments, while Ukrainian government doesn't even call this a war, but an "anti-terrorist operation", spreading russophobia all over the country and making bad jokes on the dead now-enemies.

Well, I think it's barely explainable.

I am not comparing the relationship itself, but the thing is flag jokes or jabs between nations are not racial, they are political. So, it's flawed to compare it to discriminative, racial hate jokes. Kip, himself, links cartoons with flags everyday, do any of us get offended or anything, no.

And the baby part, as I told you is just an implication of not taking the accusations seriously.

I would rather not make any comments about the Russian/Ukrainian conflict itself, because I don't consider myself informed enough on the subject.

If it is true that there used to be soviet propaganda about the enemy eating babies then this looks more like political satirism as they consider themselves the enemies of Russia. While I personally often find things like these needlessly provocative, it is nothing to get shot over. Hopefully Russia can take a joke better than certain muslims...

trust me there are pretty offensive polakball strips.

also be glad no one posts Joan Cornella's comics or Dolan. that there is pretty bleeped up crap.

besides, silly hand drawn MS Paint comics which satirizes on stereotypes even more heavily that SATW (still surprised no one drew the Baltics being enthralled to scandinavian banks) are nothing compared to the garbage some spit out towards russians.
they aren't saint that's true, and the bandit period which Orzie mentioned in another thread happened here as well, but the true bandits still roam free and sit on their fat arses in the parliament, while others rot in jail for their crimes. but it's not relevant to this specific discussion.

this example posted by Orzie is nothing more than pure act of hatred towards another ethnic group of people. in shorter terms, racism. No humor is present there, same as those stupid caricatures those frenchies got killed for. just some people never damaged by the intellect do some stupid crap. same as those "rioters" over at the great US of A who loot and pillaged with the cover for protesting against cop brutality.

Nope, in both cases (the flag joke here or the Muhammed cartoons) there is no racial motive. One is nationalist, the other targets religion itself and religion is not race, it is a set of ideas that present a cosmology, ethics and way of life. As fair a target as any other ideology or school of thought.
