Thanks for the bug report. I indentified the problem as hotkeys being pressed while outside of the trade window were causing an action to happen next time when trading. Here is a fix for it:

Download h3mtool 0.94b BETA:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/j4dyrf

Full changelog:
* Fixed hero Trade hotkeys being pre-triggered for next trade window when pressing the keys while not trading (thanks Solipso for report)

Thanks potmdehex.

I'm playing "Griffin Cliffs," the third scenario of the "Long Live the Queen" campaign. After only a couple of hours with your .94b, I HAVE had a few hero-meetings. No glitches.

Crashes with Extra Hotkeys

@potmdehex

In Long Live the Queen campaign, Griffon Cliffs scenario:

With Extra Hotkeys enabled, I have been getting regular "Exceptions" whenever I use the spells Fly or Water Walk. The game crashes back to my desktop, the Tool panel disappears, and I see the Exception message ("An unknown exception has occurred"). I did some experimenting, and it seems that regardless of what other Tool features are enabled or disabled, the crash occurs only when Extra Hotkeys is enabled.

Also, I cannot see that it makes any difference what keys I press before casting the spell. In fact, after loading up a save and enabling Extra Hotkeys, I then reload a save and use only mouse clicks. The exception still occurs when I cast either Fly or Water Walk. (Note: I don't have the Dimension Door spell yet, but I'm afraid it will also crash. Town Portal does NOT crash.)

More experimenting: View Air and View Earth worked all right. Visions crashes.

Thanks for another detailed bug report. These reports are very valuable. I identified the problem and solved it (now all spells you mentioned work), below is the fix:

Download h3mtool 0.95 BETA:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/b17das

Full changelog:
* Fixed some non-combat spells causing crash with Extra Hotkeys enabled (thanks Solipso for report)
* Improved map conversion vastly (more info to come in next major release)
* Fixed Seer's Hut quest in Pandora's Box map patch

Lately I have been using the time I have to work on improving map conversion for the first time in a long while (ever since 0.7, changes/additions have been HD Edition features). I have made a series of big improvements specifically in converting maps outside of the standard maps that come with H3 Complete, but some work still remains to tie it together.

Tool still crashing with world map

@potmdehex

Sorry, but the .95 version did not stop the crashes. With Extra Hotkeys enabled, these spells crash the game: Fly, Water Walk, Visions.

At the moment, I don't have Dimension Door, but I have a feeling it will also crash.

Sorry to hear that it is not working for you. However, while I could reproduce a crash with all the spells you mentioned with 0.94b they all work with 0.95 in my testing after I solved a clear bug in the code thanks to your report.

Therefor I ask you to confirm you are really using 0.95 (and not just the .exe, all files in the .zip must be used). If you are, I would need either a save file for a game where it happens or a crash dump to help you further. Save files are located in this folder:

If you upload one to sendspace I will have a look.

I think I am using the genuine 0.95. I used the same procedure I used for preceding versions: download version from sendspace to my desktop, open the file, and open the h3mtool application file. I then click to extract all files, and a new folder is created containing the h3mtool and all its accompanying files. All the file sizes match those in the downloaded, unzipped file. So I assume all files were unzipped and are used when I use the tool.

I uploaded to sendspace the last save where I encountered the crashes. This is 3-2-4a.cgm (97.71KB). It's at the end of the last scenario in "Long Live the Queen." Most of my 8 heroes can cast Fly, Water Walk, and Visions, any of which crashes when Extra Hotkeys is enabled. (Note: There's nowhere in this scenario where you can use Water Walk, but you can still cast it.)

Is that the right link? I copied it from the following webpage: https://fs01u.sendspace.com/upload?SPEED_LIMIT=0&MAX_FILE_SIZE=314572800&UPLOAD_IDENTIFIER=530075945.1434055672.4C5F762D.20.0&DESTINATION_DIR=13

Sorry for the trouble. I'm not experienced with sendspace. If you want to just forget about this crash issue, that's okay. The Extra Hotkeys is not important, and I don't mind enabling only Re-visitable Objects, which I use often.

I am interested in all crash issues because if it affects one user, it likely affects all. However, I loaded your save and while it crashes with 0.94b when casting those spells it works fine with the 0.95 fix made thanks to your bug report.

To me it seems that you are using the 0.94b hde_mod.dll. But in the case that there is some problem with spell casting in 0.95 that only affects some users it would be helpful if you could upload and post crashdump and logs in a zip archive. These are found here:

Unfortunately it seems HD Edition does not produce crash dumps 100% of the time itself, in which case Windows crash dump settings (more complicated) have to be used.

Okay. I opened the 0.95 folder, right-clicked the files, and clicked properties. They all indicate that they are 0.95 files, including the hde_mod.dll file. I don't see 0.94 anywhere. With Extra Hotkeys enabled, the tool crashes Fly, Water Walk, and Visions. And I believe Dimension Door also crashes. (I have not actually checked.)

As you requested, the compressed zipped files are here:

Thanks. I analyzed your crash and found its source. Although the bug does not occur for me, I have created a fix for it.

Also in this release is a fix for Two Way Monolith re-visiting not instantly revaling fog in response to feedback on steamcommunity forums and an adjustment to the FPS increase since it was causing stuttering after Ubisoft changes.

Download h3mtool 0.96 BETA:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/hbl8we

Full changelog:
* Fixed a non-combat spells issue affecting only some users (thanks Solipso for report)
* Fixed re-visit of Two Way Monoliths not instantly revealing fog (thanks Reset. for report)
* Adjusted FPS increase to work smooth with Ubisoft changes

Well done, potmdehex. I can now cast Fly, Water Walk, and Visions when I have the tool's Extra Hotkeys enabled. I had not experienced the 2-way monolith bug, but I appreciate your help on that too.

I have lots of crash issues with 0.96 unfortunately. Especially when trading between heroes clicking 1 and 2. Are more people having issues lately?

Yeah, the main thing is it's integrated and can be installed by just adding/installing a bunch of files to HD Edition's folder (without replacing any) and then those options are visible whenever HD Edition is started, so it's much simpler.

The "Never Hide Cursor" option is new (although actually available internally in h3mtool 0.96). When I made the mouse lag fix some time back I made it so that the cursor would always be visible. When Ubisoft integrated this fix they still made it so cursor is hidden for example while a hero is moving, which is annoying.

Other than that the internals are rewritten so that more things should work with future patches without adjustments (unless very major changes are made) and it works with Czech/Chinese version again.

I have a few things I intend to release the coming weeks, so anyone reading this should keep an eye out.

For the past few weeks I've been using the HD Edition for a replay of the Restoration of Erathia, which I am now approaching an end to. I don't know what motivates potmdehex, but his tool is a very welcome improvement to the default installation. At least for the Re-visitable Objects and Extra Hotkeys features. (I haven't concerned myself with the others.)

Two reports for h3mtool 0.96 BETA:

(1) Re SelvesteSigurd's reply above (7/14): He says he's getting "Lots of issues ... crashes when trading between heroes..."

Although I got those crashes with older versions, I have not gotten any with 0.96. But that's with only Re-visitable Objects and Extra Hotkeys enabled. And my heroes meet frequently.

(2) I did just get a crash with 0.96. With only Re-visitable Objects and Extra Hotkeys enabled, I got a crash after winning a battle versus a garrison. The game crashed ("unknown issue") when I tried to transfer a stack to the garrison when the garrison screen automatically appeared after the battle. The crash occurred when I clicked on the stack to be transferred. I repeated the battle without the tool, transferred the stack, and did not get the crash.

Uploaded crash dump here https://www.sendspace.com/file/sq4c5a (215.88MB)

Thank you Solipso for another detailed bug report. I have stopped development of h3mtool to focus on its successors, but I take crash issues very seriously so I created a fix for the issue you discovered after analyzing the crash dump you provided.

Download h3mtool 0.96b BETA:

Full changelog:
* Fixed stack splitting crash occuring when handling stacks in garrison objects (thanks Solipso for report)

As always, don't hesitate to post any problems experienced, I will provide help.
