Well, how do I put this... this is not 'pretty serious'. Neovius comment is pretty relevant actually - since you want developers to change the game over something really trivial...

yes it is pretty serious since the only creature to have a leopard bikini and is dark skinned can very easily be seen as racist. His comment is also completely irrelevant since it adds nothing of value to the discussion.

so why can't the brute have it? or why have leopard skin on creature living in an area likely far from any substantial leopard population.

How do you know it's likely to lack jaguars? the fact they're wearing one should point towards the opposite, in fact. Overall this point is the same as saying "why does Sanctuary have a japanese ice spirit, a japanese named spirit dressed in thai clothes and an hindu medusa". Factions on Heroes are amalgations of several cultures

The best part of all this is how you feel the Harpy and the Centaur were shown to be having problematic clothing, yet, not the Brute.
Tell me, is the Brute really prepared for deserts? What is he wearing? A hat/hood, a vest, bracers, and boots, with some cloth over his groin. His upgrade gets a bit thicker boots and bracers, with a bigger hat. But really, those boots are open-toed, his toes are sticking out.
You know what people walking through the desert have to wear?
Near full body robes that are worn loosely, all down the arms and legs, with some kind of sandal.
Why? Because although deserts are hot, you need to cover your self up near completely, as the loose robes provide a cooling sensation and a form of insulation against the much hotter outside. Further, the wind will be picking up sand and you will be buffeted by the sands. Further, once it hits nighttime, it will actually be cold as well. Even in the summer, our Saharan desert gets around 5 degrees Celsius/40 degrees Fahrenheit. A little hat and vest isn't going to keep you warm then.
So why is the Brute showing so much skin, even though doing so is pretty bad for desert garb all around?
Because arms tend to look pretty good. Perhaps it is "badass" factor, but really, showing that much leg and arm in the desert is a death sentence to most people. Even if you try to say "he's an orc, he's super human!" then I say: Why did they decide to give him actually protective headgear... then forgot to for nearly every other part of his body?
Not functional, not effective.
Not that there are, you know, desert birds and falcons, or the plains and savanna antelope varieties that, you know, don't need clothes, but society dictates that if it's got breasts and looks female and human, better cover up dem bewbs. And anything wearing any sort of metallic armor in the savanna up to the desert is asking to get burned and baked. But the thing that is actually really close to being human, and turns out it isn't even trying to wear desert variety clothes: Yeah, this is totally a women only problem.

@protolisk
i'm a bit tired now so i'll probably get a better response tomorrow. 'til then...
you're completely right, the brute isn't nearly well dressed enough. however this thread is supposed to focus more on the females creatures so the brute, naturally, gets a bit shoved to the side unless to compare with, and honestly, comparatively it's kinda blatant.
about the gazelle/bird thing: firstly, they don't move around much or do anything during the hottest period of the days. most animals will just take a nap under a tree (i have to birds adapted to dessert life. they always take a nap during the day). they are also covered in fur/feathers that help a lot more with sun/heat/cold than naked skin.

Although this is a thread indeed for the women in the game, the best way to see how they are treated is to compare to men. Which is the Brute, you said yourself. Who is also oddly dressed. Can't compare "only women" without a way of seeing the whole populace, which means you need to see everything.
And, considering that this game takes one whole day as a turn, when are the units on the move? Always during the heat of noon? Likely not. They have all day. So... the napping stops them how? They could just use their "turn" for the day moving during mornings/evenings. And the Harpy has outright massive wings, it could easily curl it's main body into a fetal-ish position and cover itself with the massive wings. If a battle was during the day, then... you best bet they'd wake up and fight or be killed. So, again, I'm not seeing the fact that they are so out of place, beyond them maybe dropping all of their clothes, which the ESRB probably wouldn't like.

Frankly, with things like skill systems, story writing and visuals still being of somewhat uncertain quality, I couldn't care less about political correctness of Centaur's outfit and whether it uses leopard, cow or duck motif. It's well-designed, it fits with the faction theme and that's all that really matters.

I think the actual reason the centaur has a leopard skin is a clever visual pun. Generally gazelles are hunted by leopards. The fact that the gazelle looking centaurs are wearing leopard skins implies that the hunter is now hunted
That being said, i love how kiryu ignored my post. Thats what happens when people dont think through their arguments :3

now here's something cool. Sadly they don't elaborate on it like they did in h6 (there the fur was akin to trophies) and those weren't dark skinned humans wearing pelt bikinis. They were also based more around southern america people but that's a discussion for some other time.

or, you know, not bothering answering something that doesn't prove or change anything. so what if some tribe or whatever see leopard fur as important? doesn't change that the use of it in western-consumed media has very strong, negative connections to racism. remember RE5 and Shivas tribal outfit?

that's absolutely fine, but don't pretend it's not a problem. i find it to be more important, personally, but that's just me. if you don't find it important, keep in mind that i do.

i don't see what you're trying to say...
My point was more that the animals-in-desserts excuse is kinda moot since those aren't what brings up the problem. The problem is that the female units aren't nearly as well-dressed (comparatively) to the male one. This does apply to the goblin too though, but it appears to have very resistant skin akin to hide, so i dunno.

Why, actually? I don't find anything offensive in these artworks, really. Centaurs and harpies need to use light clothing at most in order to keep their mobility. It has always been this way, even back before, when centaurs were male. I don't see why that should change only because they were genderbended.
There's also nothing really racist about referencing race's culture. Particularly if you first take an entire race of terrible-accented Japanese-flavored naga into consideration, some units outfit comes off as rather unimportant...
