5/5/3 line-ups are too big. Races lose their climate. Too many mixes which kills themes.

No! No! No! Rename the kraken or atleast find a original picture and not that Clash of Titans ****! Like this:
Also, I don't think the Triton fits for sanctuary. It seems far too greek, and it is harder to make it fit for the Asian style of the faction. I propose a melee mermaid as an alternative.
BTW, cool jötunn!

Two things:
a) The mermaids is generally better suited for the asian theme of the faction, as they are less cultural bound and their name has a more universal use, opening for more options for design and abilities.
b) I have realised that the lineup suffers from a far to large sea theme, which leads to several problems, including the logical problem of how multiple of the creatures works on land, where far the most combat takes place. worst of these is the triton, how doesn't even seems suited for above water combat, as he would be considerablely slower...

Kappas, Naga Priestess, Kenshi, Karkinos, Okane-no-Okane, Kirin are both sea water and sweet water units and also land units.
We added Triton because he seems much better suited as a melee unit and can be made to have asian or Japanese theme very easily. Because we put the Triton, we replaced the common Mermaid with the Siren that we chose to represent as shown to be different than the triton.
Triton can move on land just like the Water elemental of Heroes 3 or like Kenshi. Else, he can be made to look like a human with fish like attributes much like most tritons from magic the gathering.
The Kraken looks like it does to avoid the same problem.
The Siren levitates much like the Mermaid in heroes 6.
So in the end, it is not true that the faction has such a focus on sea theme. But even if it did, it doesn't matter, because in each game you may choose which representation of the faction you wish to show.

Well okay but answer me, why did you pick the siren and triton over a more fitting choice, the yuki-onna!?

I think these lineups are truly great, but what are you using to create those pictures? So you get all creatures in the same photos?

What about the Stronghold? I am eager to know, what creatures will you add. I miss the H5 shaman-ess... she was somehow hot.

Thanks To create these line-ups I use Photoshop (just like for mostly anything else i post on this site) but every line-up I have to make from the scratch Maybe there is easier way but i don't know about it

I'm going to post stronghold line-up tomorrow or on tuesday, I have general idea about the line-up (page 4) there's going to be shaman, she can be female but i don't if she's going to be as hot as in HV

Not sure about Polis, I feel inherently that if you're going to put elementals in a faction they should all be on the same level, possibly via a process of exclusion (no more than two elementals available in any town).

well, Polis faction is a faction created for ICTC contest, it's suposed to be a faction like a Conflux in HIII, with elementals, and in HIII elementals are in different tiers, I could make all four elementals elite but separating them in core and elite gives more choices and diversity also you can read more about this faction HERE
also don't focus that much on Polis and Bastion in this thread, these are new factions, so not everything might be cohernt with Ashan world

Most likely, if your faction is going to be part of Ashan, then you should make it coherent with Ashan. Otherwise, create a story-line which explains why your faction is not coherent with established Ashan lore, like I did.

I mean not 100%, the lore/history (and everything else) of Polis is coherent with Ashan (except Phoenix but i thought that Phoenix and Moonix could be two different creatures in Ashan) the same with Bastion but after we (Me and Articun) created Bastion they revealed stronghold line-up and there is basilisk rider and we have basilisk as champion, so that's one thing, everything else is coherent

Like Hydras and Wyverns, there might be different kind of basilisks. It is not against the lore to put different units that are variations to already existing ones. But it is important to incorporate them in the lore. For example the basilisk of the Stronghold faction has adapted to dessert terrain and thus has legs, Bastion one has remained a snake but evolved to a high ranking predator thus giving it its huge size.
The same goes for Hydra. As they said in the Hydra information, there are many different kinds of Hydras. And they said the same thing about wyverns.

That's true enough, but I think the legs/no legs thing is going a bit far, the wyvern is after all a dragon with two less legs.

what about some creatures like boar, chimera (greek one, not scorpicore), roc, troll (looking like Loatheb or fen creeper n Hearthstone/ Wow), mammoth, oliphant, werewolf as well as gargantuan and grasher from HoMM 4? I think that some of them could suit some factions (boar to Haven), some to Stronghold, troll to Lizardmen (I do not like bull, just never have been a fan of gorgon's look in HoMM 3 )

I'm thinking about making Roc/Thunderbird stronghold champion and oliphant elite. Boar to haven, idk there's already wolf, if i would add another animal creature it would be lion rider for champion or pegasus, but i need to think about haven. I was thinking about werewolf for necropolis but Jiriki9 made a good point that it is not undead creature also i wanted mammoth for fortress but he said it wouldn't be a good champion and as elite i prefer Brontotherium.
I was also never huge fan of bull in HIII fortress but with time i got used to it and there are another four creatures so if you don't like it you don't have to play with it
I'm also thinking about changing tier with treant and forest guardian but i don't know if it would be good idea.
@matrix123mko my line-up for stronghold will be similar to yours but without wolf rider (I think one wolf creature is enough and if there would be rider - panther rider would be better)
stronghold line-up
Core:
Brute
Harpy
Lizard rider (i think it doesn't deserve elite)
Gnoll
Elite:
Shaman
Centaur
Wyvern
Oliphant
Champion:
Cyclops
Behemoth
Thunderbird
