Well this one is more of an unbalance not so much of a bug.

The PEON ratings of the fire/water eles and genies is out of whack. When setting a random lvl3 in the editor, you can set the PEON number. If you set it to 1000 you can either get; 32 crusaders, 27 nightmares, 24 efreets, 53 fire eles, 54 water eles or 38 genies. They should all be of close or equal value. I dont think there is much question that 54 fire/water eles is much much meaner than 32 crusaders. Yes the eles and genies have less hit points but what they lack in Hit pts they make up for in damage. The numbers of these monsters are out of whack. Because they are rated much lower they also grow in numbers much faster, causing an even greater mismatch.


Spell Problem: Hypontise and Beserk dont require Line of Sight, while Blind does.....I get to hypontise your lvl20 Archmage turn 1, even tho you have him in your 7th slot in a square formation. Ack!

Quests: They have scripts for take creatures, artifacts, materials, but no 'take hero' option. Even tho the quest requirements can be 'has certain hero'.
Also if you have multiples of the quest artifact, the quest will take them all. For example I have 2 flasks of mercury and 10 different quest huts i can return it to(everyone wants the flask . When i complete the quest at one hut it will take both flasks or all the flasks I have in that army.

My hero has GM magic resistance, however cancellation and steal enchantment will work on me. Grrr, There goes my immorallity potion. Also Mass Cancellation should affect both friendly and hostile creatures alike or it should be a lvl 5 spell. Its much too good in MP. I saw it cancel 3 guardians angels, dragon strength, vampiric touch, mass bless, and mass ward. Ack One lvl 4 spell took out 4 lvl 5 spells and 3 lvl 4 spells, plus some lower lvl spells. That would be fine, if it had cancelled his spells too. This seems to be a bug or just a big imbalance in the game.

Stronghold is has been unbalanced for MP too. The breeding cage costs more than your lvl4. And with no spells you'll get beat like a dog against someone barely knows the game, but has spells. Maybe fine for single player, where the AI is dumber than a post, but in MP this town doesnt come close to cutting it. Perhaps if the heroes magic resistance transferred to the creatures, but then it would be too powerful. Sigh, the best solution is prolly to give them a guild.

I hope whenever they decide to release the MP patch, they also try and even out some of the major imbalances in the game. I am sure as I continue to play this game I will find lots more.

quest guards and creature stacks..

I dunno if this qualifies as bug, but when a Quest Guard asked 10 Medusas, I seperated them from my main army, went to the QG with them, but instead of them dissapearing when the QG opened, one of them was left behind... this happened more than once, in fact, each time a QG asked me for X creatures...

Jex: I think that requirement is only for you to possess that hero, not make the quest "man" take him away. Would be a nice option, though.

Madraman (don't remember exactly): I you'd spent like 4 minutes browsing the forums, you would have had to stumble across at least 5 different threads dealing with this subject. I'm not saying this to be mean, and thank God you posted this in a reply, and not in a new thread.

Here's what you have to do:

There is a quest hut somewhere in the middle regions of the map. He'll ask for a dwarven sum'n-sum'n to break down the wall.

Found another one (a happy bug though)

lysander campain, map 4 (the small map with blue and orange
army and you have no castle.

one of the losing conditions is when dessete dies.

I went straight to the other side of the map to the orange castle.
got there and started the fight
in the fight dessete dies
but in the end i won the battle

win condition activates
never get to see the map again
go directly to intro screen for map 5
and guess who's in my army again
right dessete !

Actually if you die taking a town, your heroes are resurrected before the victory/loss conditions are checked.  At least that seems to be the case for me.  I think they even gain XP when they die taking a town.

I don't know if it's a bug or just a feature, as it makes sense to have instant ressurection while fighting in (and taking control or maintaining control of) a town.

the mageguilds aren't a bug, they are so cheap because it'll take you 20 lvl's to get grandmaster in any magic skill. Letting you pay even more for the guilds would highly unbalance it from might, because might is actually free, while you still have to pay for the magic.

I found a bug, or better heard a bug. The phoenix doesn't make a 'bird-sound' when taking damage, but more like a human-sound, like the archers. Check it! it's true.

Also, I don't know if it's with XP only, but whenever I pass by a map object, like waterfalls, singing birds, you don't get the real noise, but awful clicking-sound.

and the last sound bug, if you pick up resources, chests,... too fast, like five after eachother, my sound goes nuts and over the music comes some other clicking-sound. this one is first not that loud but gets louder and louder after a while

Someone mentioned this in part of their response, but I wanted to highlight it because it is terribly annoying...

Shipyards place ships where you can't reach them. This is just plain inexcusible for them to have missed. I actually had to build three ships just so that I could finally reach one.

There have been numerous islands where it is impossible to land because no space is available.

Not a bug, but kind of sloppy gameplay...when you defeat a hero you should be able to decide which prison they are sent to. As of now, it appears they are sent to the most recently visited town's prison. At the very least, you should be able to caravan prisoners to other priosns. Also, there should be things to do to the enemy heroes imprisoned like torture them for info about their towns, heros, or areas of the map they've explored...each would have a price, of course.

I had a really strange fight, with my army on one site and a group of something like 5 x 3 Phoenixes on the other site. They attacked my army except for my hero. After a few turns none of my men were left except for my hero, who could easily attack them with my range ability :s

Oh yeah, i think it's really anoying when attacking some of those 'bushes-men' that can make eachother happy. When there are like 7 happy things at the beginning of the game the souns is VERY loud. but that's not really a bug I guess...

1. Somwhere in the other thread was the "land ship" bug, check it out.

2. I don`t know if everyone has that bug, but when You create a campaign Yourself and choose a prolouge pic, but don`t write any prolouge message then the game crashes when You press the "loop text" button. Please tell me if You are havin` the same bug.

i have one...

i'm not sure it always works this way but once i fought a stack of sea monster with a lone hero with a potion of immortality...

the monsters hit the hero, dealt damage but then devour ability killed my hero. immortality potion caused my hero to spring back to life then... the screen where it says who won appeared while you can still see in the background my hero is still standing.. my hero is in the casualties..

(i definitely think its a bug but it makes sense, if a creature devours you, you wouldn't be able to come back to life again outside its belly right?)

Retreating bugs

1. When in battle if you try to retreat it says you have no town when you do, this is not a feature this is a bug!

2. When in battle the enemy wishes to retreat for $$$ you select "NO!" yet they still retreat!

thief/tombstone bug

Just wanted to reiterate the thief/tombstone bug.  Tombstones get full experience for running past a stack with a thief.  This will ruin multiplayer if not fixed!  Again, Tombstones should never get experience or be able to learn skills at map structures.  Currently they can learn at certain magic structures.  The bug is fun to exploit, though for the time being.

Right-clicking on a quest building occasionally causes a crash to desktop ...okay ..more than occasionally LOL

I've really noticed it on several fan made maps, especially where they've used a quest building for decoration and there's nothing associated with it.

It seems to be the general case.

There are a few cases on the campaign maps where this happens also. For instance the decoration quest building at the army of sea monsters in the last chaos campaign scenario.

There was also one other place on that map that I had crashes which I attribute to decoration quest huts.

This is an old thread. Check the dates for all posts. 3DO released several patches since then that addressed many of these problems. Most, if not all of them are fixed now.
