I know right  The pre-order extras should all be just some fan stuff... more plastic figures or posters or soundtracks... maybe even a dvd with video of some guys listening the soundtrack for all i care...
But dont cut actual content from the game! I seriously doubt that there will be a plethora of maps available at the beginning anyways, so why limit it even further... I dont think i have ever played the same map twice, so i hope the RMG is a success because at this rate the pre-made maps will run out pretty quickly 
Without the RMG i dont think i will find a way to really enjoy this game... i would need to wait for the expansions for couple of years more Which brings us to having Elder Scrolls 6 right around the corner. With that i can just lock myself in to the wine cellar and leave this mess behind for months

physical goods can be a bit hard to do on a downloaded game to be fair. that said, try limiting it to stuff that doesn't impact the gameplay. a skirmish map is unacceptable and a hero is less than stellar but not as bad. if it was stuff like, say, an alternate hero model or something that would be fine as an incentive to but a special digital edition.

Heroes V had some skirmish mapsand scenarios added to its Deluxe Edition. Interestingly, they became available to all people who owned Heroes V in patch 1.2 I think. Moreover, in Heroes VI skirmish maps from DLCs became available to every owner of SoD, an expansion pack that probably was bought by more people than DLCs. Something similar may (and will) happen to that map.

still bullsnow. i payed for it (not really but i'm making a point) so i should be able to utilize it. if it was purely cosmetic stuff, sure. no problem but maps are not cosmetic stuff. especially not now when the lack of maps is such a large issue with the franchise as a whole.
for shame, ubi

Nah. Codes for beta tests of Heroes VI were omnipresent at one time and you had to try really hard not to get one. Most of Polish gaming sites gave codes, so everyone who wanted could get it. Of course, there was also "standard way", meaning ordering game before the beta tests but I guess that a vast majority of beta testers got the acces thanks to give-aways.

What about the heart of nightmares map? A H6 preoder exlusive that was the only scenario in the game at that time and was never released later, gating of not only the map but more content like DWs and heroes.
If you missed the start of the games sales, or were a new fan, you coul only play the map by diging in the source files, a thing not many people like to, or know how to do.

Well I'll have to say that, if there is a considerable ammount of scenarios in MMH7 I don't think it's really that terrible that those who buy the deluxe edition get an exclusive scenario map. But if it is like it usually is and there is only a small amount of scenarios in the main game I think it would be better if it was available to everyone.
