Governor trouble

Hello again, boy I haven't been here in a while.
Anyway, this mod is pure gold, thank you all for creating it!

Onto the problem:

What are the limitations on hiring governors supposed to be?

For reference, I'm running a Haven game with an ARNG-made map with Jeddite (who looks awesomely evil ) as my main, and one of my seconds is Jenova (hired at the Haven in turn 1 of the game, along with Jed).

My haven's governor is Ellaine (who was my starting hero).

Recently I swiped a Sylvan town-tree and I wanted to install Jenova as its governor but I don't get the option (she can tp to it, but that's all), and Jeddite can only initiate its conversion to Haven, which I don't want to do.

I read somewhere there might be some issues with this, such as wrong folder installation (doesn't seem to be the case, I installed the game and mod in the same folder, though not on my system partition), or there might be issues if the installation isn't clean (mine is), and a few other issues, but I can't find it anymore.

Edit: As far as I know, this means either that my installation has another problem, or that the governor has to be of the same faction as the town AND hired in that town. But am I right, and if so, which?

Hi Shep!

You can try this command @H55_win() . it will give you winning screen and you will be able to continue through the missions.

Also you can use this one @H55_Speedrun(1);
It gives player 1 heroes 999 black dragons.

@Magno made his best to fix most of the campaign issues but due to incompatibility with the Mod scripts AI on some maps will have wierd behavior.

Cheers!

Dred, the @H55_win() command doesn't work. Just gives an error.  I did use the speedrun cheat and then killed all of the demon armies and took their town.  Alas, that still didn't end the mission.  I'm not sure if Magno has the single player campaigns as a high priority, though.  I suspect most people will not care about them.  I will just move on to the other campaigns and custom maps.  Thanks!

Type: "Win()" not H55_win

@rottenvenetic: you can only govern towns of your own faction which is currently haven.

Thank you for checking! and I really feel stupid, because all (except for one) dds icons for HOF and TOE are already there, in the data folder, under H5A1 and H5A2. Evidently, they stand for Heroes 5 Addon 1 and Addon 2, duh!

Anyway, as I said, I have all the good quality icons except for the new "Battlefield Logistics" icon in MMH5.5.

Can anyone tell me where to find that icon in good quality dds or png (or whatever, as long as it has transparent back)?

It's the icon that you see twice in the middle of this image:

Aside from that, my in-game Skillwheel for MMH5.5 is coming along. I worked extensively for it to provide good visuals along with comprehensive functionality. It's gonna be a one-stop-shop. I know I'm teasing but I want to show it only after it's complete

I think this is new icon added by @magno. Probably you can find it in MMH5.5-data.pak.

No, I know that, but I thought maybe some images are packaged in the exe file and that's why I couldn't find them. Apparently, I should have looked harder To my defense though, the way those folders are (dis)organized by Nival, the number of spelling errors, inconsistencies... It's just unbelievable How can they even pass as computer programmers, it's beyond me...

@magno
I have a name change suggestion, a correction if you ask me.
Suffering Strike perk. The verb "suffer" is intransitive. I think a proper name would be "Agonizing" Strike.

POSSIBLE ISSUE

We are playing 1vs1vs1 Game on LAN, 8 skills on.

I am playing Calh specializaion Imp breeder.
My Governor hero is Sheltem (balista fireball).
Sheltem also has artifact for tier 3 creatures per week but he gets none.

I also do not see any imps joining my hero.

We did a test run last week (1vs1vs1) were I played same faction and also had Calh as secondary.  Imps were joining the army back then.

here is a screenshot with an error I noticed in console

It's called that way because the spell is called 'suffering', There was already a poll to change the spellnames and the crowd wanted to keep the nival ones so, no.

Also I cannot have 2 people working on the english txt files simultaneously, so I'm only interested in any text changes if I have editable files of the skilltree.

I know the spell is called suffering, it's just not a transitive verb, so it doesn't sound right when you say suffering strike. It doesn't mean inflicting suffering, it kinda sounds like you're being inflicted, lol.

I'm making these suggestions because it's a mod, so by definition it is about changing things from the original to make it better. Obviously though, you don't have to agree with all the suggestions made here

I'm working with the GIMP software with the DDS plugin, so you will be easily edit the texts yourself and create the DDS files. Texts on the skillwheel are layers with transparent backs, called by clicking the relevant button.

At the end of the day, you can say that you don't want to include my skillwheel in MMH5.5, which would be sad, in which case I'll upload it as a standalone mod

I probably want to include your skillwheel, because you would not be doing it if it was not to improve the current. But simultaneously I have to continue bugfixing completely unrelated to your work and have to update the txt file, so I don't want this file affected by your work because it causes extra work later.

@dredknight: this is the resources update bug I was talking about earlier, it is not caused by the creature artifact, but can affect it if the execution thread is broken off.

No, I don't think so, but i still have some ideas, could you tell me if there was any hero involved in the game that had an economic scripted spec like jenova - bounty hunter.

If you're talking about name changes, don't worry, I won't change any names without your consent. That's why I'm bringing them to you as suggestions.

I'm doing this skillwheel only for MMH5.5, only to support this project. I suppose one can modify it later for the original game but I don't see the point in that. Only MMH5.5 is worth the effort

That said, about the skill descriptions in the skill wheel, I hope you don't mind me editing one and only one of the the descriptions more concise, which is the "Elemental Summoning" description that comes with the Shatter skills.

So, instead of this:
"
Elemental Summoning
For every shatter skill the hero masters at advanced level a number of elemental guardians will be summoned in the garrison of every owned town every week. The town needs to be of the same alignment as the hero and the amount of summoned elementals depends on the level of hero and the Mage Guild. The type of elementals depends on the faction of the player: Haven (Air), Sylvan (Water), Inferno (Fire), Necropolis (Water), Academy (Air), Dungeon (Earth), Fortress (Fire), Stronghold (Earth). The amount of summoned elementals = (hero level/25) * amount of advanced level shatter skills * (1+Mage Guild level). (For Barbarians it depends on Hall of Trial level + 2 points for the Walker’s Hut).
"

I arrived at the following:
"
Elemental Summoning
For every shatter skill the hero masters at advanced or expert level, a number of elemental guardians will be summoned in the garrison of every owned town that is of the same faction as the Hero, every week. The type of elementals depend on the faction: Haven (Air), Sylvan (Water), Inferno (Fire), Necropolis (Water), Academy (Air), Dungeon (Earth), Fortress (Fire), Stronghold (Earth). The number of summoned elementals per garrison = (Hero level / 25) * (Number of advanced level shatter skills) * [1 + Mage Guild level]. For Barbarians, instead of [1 + Mage Guild level], use [1 + Hall of Trial level + 2 (if there is Walker's Hut)].
"

I believe it's better, and a little shorter at the same time. This is the largest block of text that I have to include and I really hope you're fine with this, as otherwise it won't fit in the allotted area with reasonable font size. I will not have to change any other description, and the in-game text does not have to be changed since it doesn't explain the formula anyway.

Here you are:

Dungeon player heroes:

Kastore -  (first hero, main hero) -spec summons elementals on friendly dead stacks
Sephinroth - +1 crystal specialization
Thralsai - spec bless spell on half cost, has estates
haven-heroes:
Isabel - 250 gold per day specializaton
sylvan-heroes:
Mephala - spec defense per levels

Inferno player heroes:

Calh - Imps per week (first hero, main hero)
Shaltem - Fireball balista (governor)
Haggash - shatter spec, has estates

Necropolis player heroes:
Raven (first hero, main hero) spec. summons ghosts on enemy dead stacks
Sandro - spec power per levels
Jeddite - Embalmer (tent)

P.S.
Hero familiar specialization seems to be working but Cerberus artifact does not (shaltem, the governor has it).

@thGryphn: I have no issue with this change itself, but it affects a lot of entries in the txt files. If you really want to do it then create a new separate folder  in which you put all your changed txt having exactly the same folder structure as my file so I can later simply merge and overwrite them (prefering yours). Do not edit the mmh55-txt.pak itself. I have been over this files so many times and have no willpower to do it again.
