@stachnie: that's a ridiculous amount of K, very few games would ever go over 40, so that is what I balanced it for.
@elvin: on the contrary it is available to all factions, but so is irresistable magic.

I see, resisted spells could still do 50% damage this way though dark magic would still be screwed?
This reminds me, are you aware of any bug regarding dark renewal? I once tried incorporating it into sorcery but I was getting some crazy fast turns without any resisted spells. I think that had happened even with summoning.

Speaking of fun builds, I've recently played a Necromancer based around Mark of the Wizard and Arcane Armor/Raise of the Dead with Vampires and Bone Dragons. It was super fun, sometimes I just put two units onto the battlefield and let them go wild. MotW is also very useful with Blindness.

Imo high spellpower factions should never have had access to motw. Fun but oh so deliciously broken

Well yeah, it's pretty good against AI but it requires a lot of luck and is very fragile. One mistake during a dangerous fight and you can say goodbye to half your units. And once your oponents know all of your strategy is based around particular magic school, expert shutter will turn tides into their side.
I would go as far and say that without MotW high spellpower heroes would have a veeeeery hard time against oponents in late game that have high stats in attack/defense. Full might hero's units just don't want to die.
Quote: I am kind of ready to challenge this strategy. Anyone for a game ?
Tbh I've never played online in HoMM. Are the servers still up and running? Or do you use some kind of Hamachi-like software? I'm still at work, but curious.

Most people here use game ranger or tunngle.
Here is a tunngle guide, it requires some time to tune and if you are behind nat you have to do port forwarding on your router.
Game ranger is very easy to use and works straight of the bat. You just need to rename one exe file as GameRanger looks for exe file with specific name.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Install game ranger
2. Rename H5_Game.exe to something different (H5_Game_backup.exe for example).
3. Rename the EXE you want to use for playing to H5_Game.exe (for example MMH55_64.exe to H5_Game.exe).
4. Open Game ranger and go to options.
5. Find "Heroes V tribes of the east" and browse the exe file H5_game.exe
You are ready to host a game and play . Remember that your opponent should do the same things and most importantly use the same exe file.

Well... this map HAS to be imbalanced. But I think you should adjust the formula - if the attack may be increased by X, armor damage should be N/2 (properly rounded, at least 1). This way, if N is even, when we compare the same unit with only +A or -Armor, the unit with -Armor deals lower damage for hits 1 and 2, the same damage for hit 3 and greater damage for next hits. Still great, but not so useful against units with low D (it does not go below 0).

Only for the first two hits. For third hit (if the -Armor is approximately 3/4 +A) the armor may be reduced by 3/2 A and then the bonus still grows (if the stack size has not changed etc.). Well... it is up to you. I think these hundreds or later legions of lvl 7's I fight to enter a new zone (AI's are afraid of it) get their armor reduced to 0 too fast.

Hey,
Bad news. The hourglass bug returned. There was a second different setting in the game that was fine until the end: I set the look-ahead depth to lowest setting.
Now it is on a new map against AI with only one AI left, again a quite large map. SleepTime is 1 since beginning and look-ahead depth is on second level.
Let me know if I can do anything helpful here.
Cheers

I'm not sure I understand, did you mean to say this setting doesn't trigger it on lowest and does trigger it on normal?

I hope to make it clear:
Bug until now occurs to 100% sooner or later when I use 'Hard'. Usually in month 2 or 3 for the first time.
This one game which was fine had setting 'Normal', completed after month 5.

sorry for my confusing post, normal=lowest
so the conclusion so far is it was not the sleeptime but setting lookahead to normal that fixed it or at least lowered the chance for the issue to occur?

At least it makes sense, since if maps are bigger there is also more 'lookahead space'.
Right now I can't think of anything else to fix it, since it is probably in the AI source code. Possibly the utility.exe doesn't have the issue, but the slowness of that AI would make huge maps almost equally impossible to play.

Hi,
it seems like the AI doesn't understand the way (new) Frenzy works. Just now it purposefully butchered its entire army (he used it ~3 times).
Is there any workaround? Other than choosing a hero for them that simply can't learn dark magic.
I have a replay, will add it if this bug is actually new.

Unfortunately I am away and cannot give a link but what you can do is download MMH55 and install it in empty folder. Than take the mapmixer and put it in the ToTe folder.

We know about it and this is beyond us because AI logic is hardcodded in the binary. If you play mostly against AIs you can install parts of this patch that reverts just Frenzy to how it was before.
