To be precise I want to add the upgraded creatures to military posts as well. But I can't find it.

There is a way to change type of creatures that military posts sell. You can switch default basic creatures for only one type of upgraded ones.
And, if you choose to replace basic creatures with only one type of upgraded ones you will be able to buy upgraded creature from military post, but then military post loses the effect of boosting castle creature production.
Therefore, it is much better to replace every military post with castle that has only specific type of buildings fully built and everything else disabled. However, you cannot disable basic town level, Village Hall, that gives 500 every month.

So, you could have viable replacement for military posts with a Village Hall type of town with everything disabled except T4 to T7 dwellings. You would lose creature production boosting effect for your normal towns, but you could add completely built mage guild as some sort of compensation. That would definitely improve spell availability for all players and it would provide possibility of townportaling to Village Hall type of towns. Like in MMH6.

Also, in that case, variable H55_BuildNeutralTowns from MMH55-Settings.pak must have 0 value,
H55_BuildNeutralTowns = 0
because any other value will just add extra buildings to ones already defined as built.

As for script that automatically replaces military posts with specialized village type towns, I don’t know if that’s desirable because village type town occupies much bigger area than military post. So, I suppose editing map with the map editor provides better control of eventual passability issues. However, there are problems with some older maps, after they have been opened in map editor, changes made and then saved, suddenly there are two names in game selection menu, suggesting that there are two map files in map folder, while there’s only one.

EDIT1: There’s a problem with specialized towns. After they have been converted all disabled buildings are enabled, therefore town conversion would have to be disabled as well.

I don't really mind that summoned phoenix and one available in pyre dwelling are elemental now, however it would be nice that one available in pyre dwelling has updated stats as it would have if summoned by level 20 summoner with 20 knowledge and 20 spell power (option 1):
<AttackSkill>44</AttackSkill>
<DefenceSkill>44</DefenceSkill>
<Shots>0</Shots>
<MinDamage>200</MinDamage>
<MaxDamage>300</MaxDamage>
<Speed>8</Speed>
<Initiative>14</Initiative>
<Flying>true</Flying>
<Health>580</Health>
Of course, price would need to be recalculated.

Or, health could stay the same as it’s now (150), but rebirth cycle of 8 could simulate appropriate health (option 2).

Also, it would be nice and interesting lore-wise difference if one available in pyre dwelling isn’t unreasonably overpriced elemental so all spells can be applied to it (option 3).

I’ve tried to apply more than one rebirth cycle and it works very nice.

Skeggy,

How do you apply more than one rebirth cycle - you increase this value ? <SpellPoints1>1</SpellPoints1>

This can be very interesting setup for a NCF creature .

Yep that's how you do it
I added rebirth to all upgraded Sylvan units few days ago, and it didn't work until I increased the <SpellPoints1>. Interesting thing is, all of the active creature abilities such as "Lay Hands" or "Resurrect Allies" require this value to have at least one point. I noticed this because the Savage Treant already has "Rage of the Forest", and it's <SpellPoints1> were set to 1. So I thought let's increase that to 2 and see what happens...
Logically a funny thing happened.
I came across a group of Savage Treants on a map, and attacked them. I killed them once. They resurrected. By the time I finished them the second time, they already killed like 30% of my army. And I was like meh, not too bad. I proceeded to kill them... but then they resurrected the second time... it was at this moment I knew... I f**ked up.

Still haven't tried if the "Rage of the Forest" still works even when the Treants have the Ressurection, my guess is it does, but they each use points from the same pool - <SpellPoints1>.

Yes, but 8000 is much too much for 2x150 for elemental creature that really has nothing special and has 1 weekly growth.
With phoenix incarnated outside of tactical map summoning and with weekly growth of 1, you have beautiful opportunity to test out possibility of very strong tier8-like creature. Why miss out on that opportunity?
Why not pump it up, raise the price and see how very strong tier8-like creature syncs in with other creatures and gameplay in general? (just like azure dragons or somethin)

the minimum weekly growth is 1, so the max allowed strength would be equal to 2 t7 creatures and a little bit more  (which I admit is currently not the case, since it is still somewhat toe like), but your example is more like a t10 creature that cannot receive an appropriate growth rate.

Azure dragons had a growth rate of 1 in H3, and were way stronger than 2 T7s. But they were horribly expensive and their dwellings were super rare and costly to take, meaning they never saw multiplayer use but were very interesting for custom maps. I personally don't think it would be a bad thing to have a creature in MMH5.5 take on these characteristics, since it would promote custom map creation.

Combination of elemental ability with double t7 price is basically, risky investment. Even if its stats are upgraded to T8 level it’s still risky and undesirable investment. Only way to make very risky investment of buying t8-like elemental to payoff (if you intend to keep elemental ability) is to make it super-elemental.
In other words, if pyre phoenix is to be elemental, it definitely has to be extremely strong, much stronger than T8, and it needs to have at least one rebirth cycle. Or, little less strong, but more than one rebirth cycle. Only then (elemental + superT9 or T10) combination can represent viable gameplay choice.

Second option is to create somewhat standard T8 creature that isn’t elemental. Also, above choice between sub-combo1 (possible max strength for t8 combined with one rebirth) and sub-combo2 (possible minimum strength for t8 combined with more than one rebirth cycle) can still be applied to second option.

Even though both options are really interesting, second one casts very special view on summoning that I suppose can be considered more original and more authentic, because phantom forces illustrate very nice that all phantomed creatures behave like summoned elementals when vampirism is casted on phantom image of the creature. Even elemental overkill works on them.

Therefore, it would not be lore-breaking that pyre phoenixes aren’t elementals. On the contrary, that could be extremely interesting MMH 5.5 revelation of possibly only HOMM 5 contribution to HOMM lore.

Agreed. It can be made stronger, and I'd really like to see that but not as strong as @Skeggy posted.

Btw @Skeggy, at level 20 with SP 20 and knowledge 20, you get a  drastically more powerful Phoenix:

<AttackSkill>44</AttackSkill>
<DefenceSkill>44</DefenceSkill>
<MinDamage>200</MinDamage>
<MaxDamage>300</MaxDamage>
<Speed>8</Speed>
<Initiative>16</Initiative>
<Health>1160</Health>

As a feasible solution, I propose a Phoenix equivalent to that conjured by a level 10 hero with 10 SP and 5 Knowledge:

<AttackSkill>24</AttackSkill>
<DefenceSkill>24</DefenceSkill>
<MinDamage>100</MinDamage>
<MaxDamage>150</MaxDamage>
<Speed>7</Speed>
<Initiative>14</Initiative>
<Health>560</Health>

About double overall damage output as a level 7, but works better against lower tiers, and about double durability as a tier 7, but works better against magic.

h3 is generally not a good game to consult on balance.

there can be multiple pyres on a map and growth can be recovered from day 1 with cornucopia artifact. this must be taken into account.

EDIT also i would never use the spell formula since the dmg is based on a stack that is always composed of one unit.

One impossible size map has one firelake (pyre) other have two firelakes. And those two are pretty apart from each other.
Both maps have impossible size, with underground, without water, with strong monsters, for 8 players. Both are made from same template 8P-Ultima-Iu-(All#), RMG v1.32.
random seed 1: 1491212343
random seed2: 1480261693.

So, one or two per impossible map with underground, with …

One extralarge map has only one filelake. So, number of dwellings isn’t issue really.

I agree, I used that only for illustration how strong phoenix would have to be for price and gameplay to have sense if elemental ability remains.

Yes, I made mistake concerning initiative, but health of <Health>580</Health> was defined with one rebirth in mind.

Okay, thanks.

Yet it seems that H5.5 HAS added or changed a few things to some of the skills...like the level 20/30 stuff for Spell Power or Knowledge; 11/22/33 for Sorcery, etc... - exactly where was this done?

On the other hand, summoned phoenixes could have various abilities in level-like distribution scheme, like summoned avatar of death. That would enable summoned phoenix not only to be flying tank but something much more versatile. That would also refresh summoning magic while at the same time provide two kinds of summoned phoenix usages, one for powerful casters, they would have both flying tank and special abilities, and one for tactical summoners that do not need flying tank, but some other tactical usages, like lowering morale or luck.
And the level-like distribution scheme would empower gameplay in general.
I’ve tried it, it works.

I don't remember unlockable bonuses at certain levels being possible for the phoenix, unless I'm missing something. What would be epic is give the phoenix frightful aura Send it in the middle of enemy territory and laugh everytime the opponent tries to attack it but flees instead. No doubt broken though ^^

On second thought this is all nonsense! Phoenixes are already tier8+ creatures since the entire stack -1 can be invested in every neutral battle and they all get resurrected every time. I could even raise their costs and lower their initiative and they will still be fine.
