That part is done by hex editing, courtesy of Deflaktor.
Okay, but surely it has a specific location ?

magnomagus said: On second thought this is all nonsense! Phoenixes are already tier8+ creatures since the entire stack -1 can be invested in every neutral battle and they all get resurrected every time. I could even raise their costs and lower their initiative and they will still be fine.
Why have firelake as part of the RMG elements if it’s going to sell very expensive monsters that die easily, cannot be resurrected or regenerated, have only 1 per week production and have only one or two dwellings on the entire map, no matter size of the map.

I don't have a clue, but i would love this masterpiece to evolve more. So far i'm enjoying it and discover different challenges very often. Nowdays i switched my options difficulties to "Casual Game"-"Impossible difficulty"-"Impossible Lookahead", and the game is a pleasure. Plus, i'm discovering new favourite heroes... for example, Wyngal is way much better than Ossir...hehe
And new strategic choices...for example i give my Chieftain first aid tent for the very first time, and it looks way much better from my good old triple balista

they auto-resurrect the entire stack after every battle
@fidanas: that is surprising since wyngaal was nerfed and ossir was not.

I guess you are still waiting for the cursor fix, but so far i can only tell you i recently switched to win10 after working on win7 for years. Until now nothing changed I still have the issue almost never, so it seems less likely OS related and more likely triggered by certain hardware. I still have no clue why you have it so badly, maybe try a different PC entirely, if it is an old one that is probably best.

Archers are nerfed, and the joy of Archers Dream as well, so a different approach for a might elvish strategy comes in hand. Noble Wyngal and his starting initiative, plus tactics, plus dragons who roam the battlefield, and another plus the first shoot of the missle troops. How about that?

Phoenixes purchased from Pyre dwelling (Firelake in map editor) do resurrect once per battle during the battle. If they are killed after they resurrect while the battle is going on, they die. They do not resurrect after the battle is over if their stack is completely killed twice while the battle was going on.
I don’t have this auto-resurrect-the-entire-stack-after-every-battle feature installed in my version of Might & Magic: Heroes 5.5 (RC10 Beta 4).

Wait, do they auto-resurrect after the battle if they don't use their rebirth during the battle??
Or, under what conditions do they auto-resurrect?
Can anyone test this?

for the 3rd time yes
so the more the stack grows the more overpowered they become.

They resurrect just before battle is over. Apparently that kind of feat is possible if at least one spellpoint remains unused.
I suppose no one really played the phoenixes like that, perhaps some players did, but that kind of gameplay really demands phoenixes to be non-elemental if there is only one rebirth cycle.
As they are now, for 40 Phoenixes you need 10 months and 320 000 gold. And even then that’s only 2 x 6000 hit points.
In 10 months you can collect 80 standard T7’s that approximately could have up to 19 000 hit points, cost up to 296 000 gold, and can be target for many spells, especially those that regenerate.
Also, 80 t7 can easily generate over 4000 damage points in one hit, especially with luck.
I just don’t see the purpose of achieving that kind of feat on map with strong and very strong monsters with only one cycle. And where exactly that kind of feat is supposed to take place? In creature banks, against AI heroes, in pvp multiplayer?

NO!!!, phoenixes are primarily gained with the cornucopia artifact, the dwellings are just a small bonus. You can obtain the artifact 4-6 months in, so let say you get it month 5 so you will have 20 phoenixes+ ~8 from dwellings.
With 28 phoenixes, 27 will be able to fight to death in every battle without losing any of them. So after 4 battles you can already have invested 108 phoenixes and still you didn't lose any of them.
On top of that the last living phoenix before rebirth can still take an additional massive blow in each battle and still has a change that all survive, or very few die.

In search of good new maps for HOMM-5, i'm tempting to the idea to alter-refresh-balance-upgrade-enrich and so on, good old favourite maps. I wouldn't do that without the creators approve ofcourse, but since most of the maps are dated more than a decade, i'm afraid that i couldn't contact any of them.
How do you find this as an idea?

@twidel&dace: this is interesting, it debunks my old theory it could be an issue with new very fast CPUs. It also makes it unlikely related to CPU brand, AMD or Intel. I already tested multiple GPUs and drivers and there is probably nothing there either (AMD or Nvidia). win 7 or 10 or XP all worked well for me.
I'm left with very little, maybe some MOBO stuff or windows settings. The only people who may be able to find the cause are the ones who have it very often and can constantly change the testing environment and see if it disappears.
@fidanas: basic stuff is automated by mapmixer, for rereleasing maps with manually added objects I recommend giving credits and remove the download link if complained about, since pre-asking is often impossible.

You might want to try the Arcane Avenger build which you can do with both Ossir and Wyngaal. It's a fun alternative to the usual boring lucky, avenger, retribution, tactics, Aura of Swiftness blitz-annihilation builds most Sylvan Heroes have (Wyngaal in particular).
The Build is:
Avenger->Arcane Avenger
War Machines->Triple Ballista
Expert Destruction
Luck->Casters Luck
Attack-> Lots of options here depending on how you want to play: (Flaming Arrows, Retribution, Tactics)
Enlightenment->Swift Mind, Intelligence
Then you have some options for your last 2 skills:
Morale->Empathy
Logistics->Path Finding
Light Magic->Twilight, Master of Wrath
Defense

I don't think caster's luck works with imbued spells and at any rate empathy is a lot more important to prevent your hero turns from resetting after the ballista shot.
