Hi,

I talked about this before, I have a problem with the interface of my game. This time I took some pictures to clarify it. I didn't have this problem a few updates ago:

Try a clean install, make sure all old user settings are removed, don't forget patch 3.1 and install only MMH5.5

Nival made a total mess of the game files, bugs must be based on ingame situation, otherwise it isn't worth my time.

So, I was just just playing the map "Agraels Trial" with this mod and encountered two problems:

1. At one point of the map (somewhere in month 1) Biara appears on the map as friendly hero and should run to your town where she joins you. But in my case she just kept staying in the place where she spawned and didn`t do anything. I think the green player didn`t even have turns. Additionaly she was just ignored by all enemy demon lords.

2. For some reasons I can only play until day2 week2 month2. At this point after the autosave it always keeps showing the mouth keeps beeing the one used to indicate loading. And I can only change between underground and overground view. I canīt even open the menu.

I do not have any additional mods, maps and I did patch the game before installing the mod.

Just open all files and translate the content in Spanish then zip it back to MMH55-Texts-SP.pak for example. Place in in data folder instead the english one and you are ready.

Before you go on full scale translation make sure it is working.

- translate it
- zip it to something.pak and put it back in data folder.
- open the game and check if the translation is working.

I advise people to test this because sometimes there are issues with fonts.



On the contrary, thank you for your excellent work. Translating the mod isn't a big deal. Actually it's an honor. Once I manage to open the pak file, it will be a piece of cake... I guess.

@Ereinion: map specific issue with quantomas source code, can only happen on heavily scripted scenario maps, probably unfixable, you can try MMH55-Utility.exe for such maps.

@olorin: .pak files are zip files.

I am having a fun Eight Player Taxes and 8 Secondary Skills No-Reload impossible sized map on impossible difficulty with impossible monsters, no underground or water, free resources on highest and Experience on 4.  Am using Zehir the Elementalist, Academy.

Is it true you can only have a maximum of three perks in any one category before the others become unavailable?  That would be useful to know.  I didn't get Master of Life perk, but I did get a Tome of Light Magic in my Artifact Merchant.

Do other players use the same Artifact Merchant?  One time, when I opened up the Artifact Merchant there was one slot empty, although I hadn't bought anything.

@Magno, I had a case where I restat a skill in the memory mentor.
I picked artificial glory as the new one and my hero gained 2 defense. Is that normal? I dont see it in the text.

I have noticed by the way RC8b is out for 3 weeks and there hasn't been a single comment or complaint about the new stronghold magic. Is this a silent sign of approval?

I just started playing the HOMM 5.5 version. I played H5 tote, as well as most of the HOMM games starting from the very beginning (H1).

I started with the Fortress faction, and a game vs the AI on Heroic (the AI is as strong as I could make it), and I must admit that it isn't as boring as many games vs the AI were.

Is there a place I can find human players to play with (I checked the facebook group, but its quiet there)?

Is there a place where strategies and hero builds are discussed for this game?

Minor typos seem to be with the skill system, as sometimes I'm offered 3 or 4 times in a row the same skills when my hero is leveling up.
In one case my hero had only 3 skills, and each time I leveled up shatter destructive was offered as a new skill (3 or 4 times in a row).
Something similar happens with perks, but it happened only once that the same perks were offered more then 2 times in a raw (many other basic perks were available, so I don't know why did it offer the catapult perk 3 times in a raw). Eventually I was on expert on all of the skill my hero already knew (I was waiting for the tent perk, or a few others from the two other skills I had), which ruins the way of going for a good hero build.

Did you ask for a game in the facebook Tavern? You may be there but people have low initiative out there. Someone should ask first .

Not a definite place for such things but you can either make a thread on this forum and see what happens or just start a talk under any facebook post/picture at least one person is going to respond there (actually me).

Its been this way since ToTe.
Basically when pick basic <skill> you are presented with 2 perk choices. Every time you will be offered the same 2 perks until you go to advanced of that skill. Every time a skill is upgraded the 2 perks presented are randomized again. I have noticed that there is another trigger to randomize the perks but for now I fail to find what exactly it is.

Another thing is that for each point you spend on a skill you unlock a point in the path of perks. Here is an example if you pick Basic Offense you will be offered a perk from offense next time you level up. There is always a chance to be offered a perk from offense until you have exhausted all available choices in that skill tree. This means if you pick one perk from offense tree you wont be presented with any more perks until you get offense to advanced. Unfortunately this makes shatters a bit uncomfortable to be picked and maxed early game because your hero is burdened to pick 3 perks of that tree at some point. One way to neutralize this is to max out the shatter very early and then pick 2 more skills in the next level ups. The game presents perks from the most recently picked/upgraded skills so this way it is highly likely shatter perks will go on queue.

This is how I proceed each game and most of it I restat rarely.

Magno they kick ass . So far I tried just one of them in 1 vs 1 sv 1 game and even play destruction (which IMO is the most outside-the-box scenario) but one of the opponents went on vacation. This Thursday he is returning so expect some kick ass replays next week .

I noticed that both stronghold magic classes can pick all 4 magic schools.

In the perks case I choose to advance a skill I had, but it next time I leveled up I was offered the same perks again, I choose to advance another skill I had and then again same perks (this is what I meant 3 times in a row).

Similarly with the skills. I choose a perk, then another perk, and each time I was leveling up higher and higher the new skill I was offered was shutter destructive.

May be I didn't understand your explanation, but I played H5 TOTE quite a lot, so I know (to some extent) how the skill system works there.

The method by which the game randomly offers skills on levelup is not changed from TOE and cannot be changed.

Here's a truly impossible starting stack: almost 40 No Range Penalty Sharpshooters in four stacks guarding a sawmill.  Talk about needing to restart!  I don't think that is doable for any starting army, unless you have plenty of resources (easy game difficulty) before you tackle them, and you'd still have plenty of losses.

Also, it's great to know how the skill and perk algorithm works.  To completely fill up your skill and perk list, it is actually best not to learn skills from Witch Huts until you've got three perks for your last Expert skill (and the Witch Hut skill is the one you want).

Game difficulty has nothing to do with starting armies. They depend on the map difficulty when it is been generated. The amount you have stated is generated on Impossible difficulty which is not advised.

That is what I meant by impossible.  And it is possible to win with some luck, when I use Zehir, he gets elementals when units die, so it is possible to defeat quite big armies (especially when the units are large and can't fit) with basic troops.  And of course I do map gen with "Resources: Much" and I don't give the AI any rush bonuses during the game.

I'm currently playing hotseat with a shaman level 20 and she feels weak compared to the old stronghold with rage. Light magic is no compensation for the advantages the rage is providing. This is purely subjective.

It is not Shaman fault, I have noticed that this is issue with Light Magic heroes in general. Early game is a bit tricky due to the following reasons:
- there is nothing strong to buff
- there is no good heal for low level units either (regeneration is not good for small tiers).

I can suggest the following tactics - Early game open up with haste on archers while at the same time block with goblins. Get war machines + tent and/or offense plus tactics asap.

Build Wyverns as fast as possible.  Once you have 5-6 use them for all battles and always haste them. If you play smart you can win a lot of battles with zero losses by utilizing their natural regen with spells like haste, endurance, regeneration.

Trivia bonus: Actually this is an old fortress tactics from heroes 3 so nothing new.
