Do the same rules for the Governor apply to Legion artifacts as if you are just a regular hero?  In other words, are Governors restricted to only boosting one (highest Legion artifact you have a building for) native creature type, or can they do multiple?

I have noticed by the way RC8b is out for 3 weeks and there hasn't been a single comment or complaint about the new stronghold magic. Is this a silent sign of approval?

I'm currently playing hotseat with a shaman level 20 and she feels weak compared to the old stronghold with rage. Light magic is no compensation for the advantages the rage is providing. This is purely subjective.

It is not Shaman fault, I have noticed that this is issue with Light Magic heroes in general. Early game is a bit tricky due to the following reasons:
- there is nothing strong to buff
- there is no good heal for low level units either (regeneration is not good for small tiers).

I think level 20 isn't early game and she still feels very weak. Light magic isn't doing as much as rage did. I was offered tent only at level 18+, a bit late to the party.

Remember, the way to get all three perks for a skill is as follows: get the basic skill, get the first perk, get the advanced skill, get the second perk, get the expert skill, get the third perk.  If at any time you don't get offered the perk you want (and you're already on expert skill), level up another skill and try again in a level or two.  Oh, and if there are any perks that prevent you getting another perk (apart from three perks maximum) then don't pick a perk that prevents you getting the one you wanted, but I'm sure you know that.

By the way, does anyone know the answer to the question I asked at the top of this page?  That would be great!

@magnomagus

You posted that you play many AIs on heroic level. How long does it usually take?

I'm playing now vs 3 AIs on heroic level (there are no human players meanwhile), I beat one so there are 2 left, but my main hero is almost level 30, and there are some governors and secondary heroes who are above 10 (one is almost 20).
The game is far from being finished, as I have 2 more AIs to beat (one of them beat my secondary, and meanwhile I prefer engaging him on time, so that I will have enough army left for the 3rd AI, I lost half of my army when I beat the first one).
I wonder what level my hero will be when I beat another AI.

BTW, the AI captured a town I captured first after beating the first one. It converted the town (nice, the AI is smart enough), but he also converted a dwelling near by.
How do I convert a dwelling?

After you capture it. Enter it again with hero from your faction and it will ask you automatically.

@bulya: how long? don't know i never measured the time.

@uraak:

2. possibly a bug, this part wasn't made by me

3. this text isn't used.

4. 'visit' text is no longer used.

5. good find, but not urgent since it will work correctly ingame.

My 25th level shaman resigned as she could no longer stand the onslaught of the elven ranger. 4 attack wasn't compensated by light magic. She made a last stand and finally did cast word of light to kill her remaining troops, so the enemy did not have the pleasure of the final blow .

Guys check those replays .

three of them I play Academy.
The forth one we swap and I take control over Sylvan.
Wizard Vs Warden

The wizard has mini artefacts for all creatures with strength 36 knowledge.

The sylvan player says that those artifacts are still too strong but Academy hero is 2 levels higher + he has army advantage.

Is surrendering possible when you're inside a castle, or does the enemy have the Shackles of War (if it exists in H5) every time I try to surrender?  The Surrender/Flee button is greyed out, and the Surrender option is unavailable in the menu.  I had enough gold to surrender, yet I wasn't given the opportunity, even though I had another town to retreat to.

Can you check if the yellow hero that attacked the Sylvan town has a Shackles of War?  Or tell me if retreating from a castle (even surrendering) is not allowed in H5?

When you are attacked in cAstle this is not a fight, it is a siege.
This is the price you pay because you benefit from castle walls and towers.

Remember in heroes 3 Stronghold had a building that allowed retreat during a siege?

Perhaps it would be nice, if possible, to do that for every city.
Not in a way of building another building in the city, but as a general battle rule. It does sound realistic after all, all castles had some sort of underground escape passage.

Or as a perk?

But in Heroes 3, and Heroes 2, you can still surrender in a siege.  Since H5 was based on H3, I assumed (incorrectly) that this would apply to H5.

Or maybe this only applied to H2?  I think that's what is was, it's so long since I played H3.  You could surrender from a castle in H2, but in H3 you needed the Stronghold escape tunnel to get away.  At least that's what I remember now.

Good day. What are current classes of Stronghold heroes? Chieftain, Veteran and Shaman? In the skillwheel there are Barbarian, Shaman and Witch.

Thanks. So, all Chieftain class heroes should be called Barbarians now and Veterans should be called Witches, right?

Can that be changed next release?

Do you think the magic classes for Stronghold (or whatever the barbarian faction is called) could use a boost?

Ok, played two real games by now, a custom one vs many AIs, and a multiplayer one.

The AI seems to be stronger, this is good, the custom game wasn't easy (set to heroic level and the hardest AI I could set).

In my first multiplayer game I won quite easily.
So either my opponent wasn't that good or the Fortress faction with the engineer class is powerful:
Creeping is easy, especially from the moment I get the tent perk (which doesn't take long, first level up If I'm lucky, if not by level 4 I definitely have it).
Runes are useless in the early game, but very powerful in the late game (I wouldn't have won the AI in the long game, if I hadn't knew all those runes and had the rune skill to the fullest). On the other hand, in the multiplayer game I didn't even use them, didn't have the skill, and wasn't in need for them (it ended on the 6th or 7th week).

Governors are nice, as well as the town gate. I guess the governors are especially good for necro, as they can boost the dark energy (free leveling up heroes with the necromancy skill).

Some issues I ran into during the custom game:
From some point on I couldn't convert towns, and I couldn't build there anything. Is it intentional? Map dependent? And in case its for all games, what criteria makes converting towns, and building structure in them impossible?

Does the AI plays better with dungeon, or does dungeon is just a powerful faction? I'm playing a co-op game with my wife on the same map, and both games the dungeon AI (factions are set for the map) is far superior to the other AIs (according to my custom game, as well as the thieves guild in our co-op game).

@Dredknight: I think the reason mini-artifacts can still be a balance problem is because you can switch hero-artifacts between battle and making the artifacts. So you don't need to take the handicap of too much knowledge into battle.

@Stevenaus: Shamans & Witches gain +6 Defense from the guild, means +20% durability which should on avg make up for the 0-35% durability from rage. For them magic is primarily a replacement of warcries + the bonuses creature gain rom rage levels. From this perspective there is currently no reason to believe they are underpowered.

@Bulya: There is a town conversion limit, which can be increased in the settings file, but this will likely make game too easy. Dungeons AI performance is likely a result of many random factors on  the map you are playing. From perspective of human players the faction is well-balanced.
