The numbers cannot increase, hardcoded issue. But you still need them to know which artifact is part of which set.

Afaik the effects are working but the person may not be aware the effects are not immediately visible when placing them into the slot.

About your Mod translation to Chinese

Hi Magno,

I know there will be more updated texts in the next release, but I am just doing some preparation. Some questions here

1.  all your modded texts are in the following path?
MMH55-Index.pakText

2. Now I have ready-made Chinese translation version (a .pak file with all texts in)for H5 TOE 3.1, so all I need to do is translate the texts in all files in the above path and replace all the orignial English text pak files and your modded text with the translated Chinese pak files?

3. But here are some display problems after partial translation:
Full texts cannot be displayed at some places (like tool-tip boxes, town info window and map intro when loading a map), any place to configure this?



4. Is there any special tool for translation? Like some thing that can exact the texts from all the files in the file system and export all the texts to another file so I can translate them altogether ? This can save trouble for opening each file individually from this big file system? Or even a better solution??


5. BTW, how to post images from my local disk?

Regarding 4.
Look online for free CAT software (Computer Assisted Translation). I only use paid software for this so I can't tell you which one to choose - I have the feeling that OmegaT is the most used one.

The software should be able to extract the text from your source file, allow you to translate it in it's own interface and then will recreate the source files, but with your translation in it. It will also automatically fill up any repetitions you might encounter during the translations, so that you won't have to work on it more than necessary.
(here is the list of file types supported by OmegaT: http://omegat.sourceforge.net/manual-latest/en/chapter.files.to.translate.html#file.formats )
Ask away if you need more advice.

And btw, many thanks magnomagus for your unbelievable work! I didn't try the mod yet but from what I've read so far, I expect it to live much longer than the unborn H7.

I have a question (sorry if it was already answered somwhere). Is there a way to make a map with this patch, as new objects are not visible in my editor. It would be cool if there was a map with all new objects, arts, heroes, etc. on it, so copy/paste can be used.

That was the intention, but because of the huge size and complexity of the mod i may have missed something.

I think i would start updating all file dates from chinese translation then merge it with a copy of the english files (preferring chinese over english) and then correct all mistakes I see in game.

BUT, I would wait a little too see how many bug reports/issues come up in next weeks to know if the game will still undergo changes.

Are you saying chinese needs more line space, because i don't think i can do anything about this. you may need to write shorter more summarized descriptions

Hi MagnoŁ¬

I am saying this: following pic show the problem. The original texts(English) has line feed if not displayable within one line. But after translation, no line feed so some texts are missing.

I think there is a place to configure the character length within one line.


Also the text tip-box in original English version is able to adjust the box size according to the volume of texts. But after translation, this is not possible and some texts are still missing..

This problem is not related to this mod, does there exist an official chinese translation for this game? Because you will have to investigate how they did it. I can tell you <br> should start a new line.

Hi Magno,

Problem solved, I just created a empty txt file in the Data folder and rename it to : 'widechar.chk'.

Now the display is perfect.

Thanks for your help!

And regarding the skill page, I think I have to remake the image with Chinese texts in? I guess the texts are integrated with the image so no separate texts available in your text pak file ?

Yes that will be kinda hard depending on the graphical software you have available, your experience using it and the ability to convert to DDS. For me it doesn't matter, if you just draw text boxes over the current pictures or if you want to redesign a chinese manual from scratch.

Absolutely awesome mod, really good job !

I have no idea what can and what can`t be done but I want to ask if it is possible to add new spells to the game ? What about copying the same spells but with different statistics and looks (for example Meteor Shower with Lightning storm animation and different scale etc) ?

One thing that I want to see is spells and perks more focused on lightning and ice dmg. Fire is my favorite element but the game is wayyy too focused on it. There are perks for everything that include fire (it can reduce armor, give dots, add dmg, give resistance etc) while the other two elements are left with 1 or 2 perks (not to mention earth..).

One more thing that I want to see is useful elementals. For example give earth elemental the stone spikes spell, it makes sense -> the same theme, not that damaging (he is a tank after all), this will make him more flexible overall. Maybe add incorporeal to air elemental (it makes sense, hitting the air..?! he also have high initiative but low health), his problem is that he is melee but he is very very fragile, this will solve this problem while leaving him vulnerable to magic dmg. Also PLEASE, someone to make different skins for those guys because they look like they are from another game.. absolutely horrible (the air elemental looks like a 3 years old made him).

Also is it possible to add special effects and stats based on the specialization of the hero. For example add speed alongside attack and defense or a ability (like the griffon dive) ? If so I want to see the creature specialist to cover the weaknesses of their special creature. For example the minotaur specialist would give speed to his minotaurs so they can actually reach their targets or stuff like that (one thing that would be awesome if it can be implemented is giving entirely new abilities, like for example "reflexes" to the blood maidens/fury/sisters that will allow them to dodge attacks or something like that).

Is it possible to make the same creature abilities but with different names and values ? I see it works with the spell proof, but is it possible with others ? Something like "Poisonous Attack" have different values for Manticores and Assassin/Stalker ? Is it going to work if they have different names but the same mechanics ?

Also is it possible to have different skill trees for the different races ? What about the same perks but with different values depending on the race )for example fiery wrath will give 20 % fire dmg to inferno, while giving only 10 % to every other race)? It would look really polished if there are different icons in the skill tree for every faction (it would be a little confusing but still..).

LAN Multiplayer Issue with RC1a

I have a very weird situation I was hoping someone might be able to advise me on.  Here's the situation:

Setup:  My friend and I, both running Tribes of the East (GOG version).  It's called Heroes of Might and Magic 5 : Bundle, and it includes the expansions and TOE is already updated to 3.1 in the installation.  We play over Hamachi ver 2.2.0.383.  We both have MMH55 RC1a installed.  I create a random map using MMH5.5 Editor.  I enable MapScripts and save the map.  I send the map to my friend and he puts it in his map folder.  We both ensure that index.bin and RMG Temp folder are deleted from Data folder.  We delete all saved games.  We delete all other maps from our Map folders.  We delete all other folders from EditorH5MMods folder, except the one we are going to play.  I always host and my friend joins me.  This is because he can always see my hosted game, but I cannot always see his.  This is weird because we have both set up our Hamachi the same according to this guide:

Then, we play.  I  turn on 8 skills first and then host a Multiplayer LAN game.  We play using autosave and simultaneous turns.  We play a 4 player or 5 player map (generated with the MMH5.5 Editor, one of the Epic templates) and turn off the computer opponents so it's just the two of us. Everything runs fine until around the middle of Month 2.  Then the crash happens, as follows.  I end my turn and wait for my friend to end his.  When he ends his turn, the autosave triggers and a new turn begins.  However, while I am able to start my new turn, my friend is stuck with an hourglass icon and his turn will not begin.  This happens in both directions.  If he is the first to end his turn, it will be me who is stuck, and not him.

This has happened consistently on the last four games we've played, and always around the beginning of month 2.  We have experimented to see if some event in either of our turns is triggering this crash by loading previous autosaves and trying different things in game, but no matter what we do, we cannot avoid it.  We recently tried again with a clean installation as described above, but still the same thing happens.  We have also tried with both standard and 64-bit exe.  

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this at all? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Seems to me like we are being de-synched for some reason...

Yes, my friend experienced this sync error in a 2 Player game, using the h55utility.exe:

[11.08.2015 16:19:28] had sync problems
[11.08.2015 16:19:55] both pushed end of turn, but we both saw "we are waiting for other players...+

Its a pity that this syncronization issue cant be avoided in heroes mods, so multiplayer is unplayable.
WoG (H3) is bugged too and shows sync error in PvP battle so that game is stuck.


We played ARMG map too and we had another problem:
Somehow the game created a new map when loading a save, naming it yxz.1.h5s. We had to delete the yxz.1.h5s map, so that only xyz.h5s is in maps folder.

I cannot add new spells but since RC1a this is already fixed, chain lightning and circle of winter can do much more damage in late game than previously.

There is no animation available for spell casting also this would make elemental stockpiles too dangerous, they are already very dangerous. I agree they don't look very good, but recoloring them doesn't make it any better in my opinion. This would require a really professional job

These things are not possible, H5 mainly allows for modification of map objects.

To me it seems you did everything right, but maybe dredknight knows more (when he comes back). Did you also try MMH55_Utility.exe?
Another thing you can try: hack the exe files for Permanent endless simultaneous turns with deflaktors tool, if you can agree to play that way.

Did you also clean up your installation like HVKnight did, because your reports in the Skills Thread already suggest it is buggish.
