This sounds plausible and fits the experiences I had in campaigns 3 and 4. I played Campaign 3 again from the beginning and had the same problems as last time. CTDs in C3M3 in month two, whenever an academy hero entered an academy town. Disabling the AI of these heroes allowed me to finish the scenario. C3M4 seems to work fine now. No instant win any more.

Like I said earlier, I also had CTDs in C4M2 last time I tried it. Since campaign 4 is the Dungeon campaign, this seems to support your findings.

I'd say switching off these merchants for AI is worth a try.

If a artifact merchant is blocked for AI , it will cause balancing issues. But this will be temporary solution at least.

@Magno,

I tried this , it really works, and even after I restart the game and no command needed.

I just want to know the mechanics ? Is this hero frozen forever ?

And if the AI has many heroes hired, how can I know which hero name to use in the console command? I saw the hero name of Academy from the tavern and fortunately Academy has the lowest count of heroes under control.

Hey everyone I got this bug reported today by a fan.

"Hello!!! Anyone, can you help me ? There is a bug in Necromancer campaign the 1st mission, the Temptation. The orange army didnot patrol so it blocked the path !!!!"

Not sure if you already know.

Regarding Merchant guild. I read your comments.

I think the issue is not that much in building but in buying the artifacts. You said this happens when hero goes home. This means that AI tries to buy artifacts but fails. SO this should be the issue. not the building itself.

Mag share a fix to Necropolis campaign. It fixes Orange Wizards patrols and instant win in mission 4.

Yeah, I think I encountered the academy problem as well. (day 4, Week 1, Month 3)


On a sidenote: What are the best settings if I want the most density and experience on a Extra Large Map?


EDIT: I noticed, when I create a random map with very strong monsters, sometimes level 7 monster will guard minor artifacts .... I think that they should be at the very least major, if not even relic ^^

And this fix or workaround does a good job. Avoiding the moving patrols wasn't all that hard anyhow. No great loss there.

Before the fix I used to give Markal the "Instant Travel" spell to get around the blocking patrol.

Concerning the problem with the Academy and Dungeon towns, I think dredknight is right. It's not the building of the structures, but the AI's attempts to use them. When I froze the enemy heroes and entered the Academy towns in C3M3, they where all fully built and no CTD had occurred. I myself as the player could use everything inside the towns without incident, even when using a hired Academy hero.

P.S.: I trust that differences between displayed and internally used hero names are not an issue here.

I'm now 99,9% sure the issue is caused by the AI trying to buy artifacts, possibly introduced by NAF. I destroyed the merchants with console commands on a map that crashed and the game could continue without requiring to freeze any AI heroes.

In my opinion the merchants are already a balance issue, regardless of the AI issue. They give Dungeon and Academy an unfair advantage on any map where the mapmaker intends the player to explore to get the best items (which is basically almost any map).

The truth about AI however is all those skill/spec/spell and artifact improvements hardly matter to them, because all these effects pale in comparison to the cheating scripts that are required to have the AI keep up with human combat map performance.

On a side note: I fixed the issue where the AI keeps repetitively visiting battle sites (crypts etc.), so in next version AI adventure map behavior will be significantly better.

She and scripted necro heroes just stood and do nothing. Only Orson who use Haven troops attack 2 Garrisons. We can't cross enemy border, and Biara is key to finish mission. I think problem is Quantomas AI mod.

I used first time @Win() cheat to advance in campaign.

Downloaded your latest RC1 Mod.

Should I remove all of the previous mods in the UserMods folder before installing this major game upgrade of a mod. of yours or, is there, still, some that could be useful?

Example: Arenas Plus.h5u and, Unlock all 48 heroes-campaign ones included.h5u + Death Knight.pak(Data folder); Reanimation Mod.h5u

Any ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thx.

None of the .exe files seem to be able to use the ARMG.

I got about 4 to 5 different messages that it does not know how to allocate a template to any of my chosen options. I really tried for about 4 hours of Earth's real time at figuring out how you people can generate a map and I simply can not do the same.

Does having the totally new O.S. interface and C++ programming of Windows 10 Home Edition could have created unexpected errors of all kinds? One of the Error pop-up windows mentioned the possibility of corrupted file(s).

If no fixes in the next week or so, I will uninstall this mod. and, revert to the same old game I played for the past 8 years.

Say...Why the fuss about returning to the old vanilla intros, anyway?
You people really got me on the surprised reaction and, for a few seconds, I really thought that I reverted my T.o.t.E. Edition to the old, unfinished game of Heroes 5-Spring of 2006.

Simple solution of merchants:

For a fast simple but not so good solution i set building cost of artifact sellers to 99999. So noone is able to build them.

Not a good looking fix, but it is fast and simple

Did you look through my map? If yes - what do you think of it? Today ill translate it to english

I assume that it is a problem on my end, but...

Artifact Sets don't work as described ingame, but the way the worked in Vanilla.
Examples:
- Euipping 2 Dragon Set pieces gives +1 to all parameter.
- Equipping 3 Deaths Embrace does not give 6 Spellpower
- Equipping a Pendant of Mastery on a Death Knight does not give 6 Defense.

So, where were the changes to the artifacts saved? I can't think of any file I have overwritten, but I may have missed something.

is there a "map" that overwrites your files?

Sometimes mapmaker Change something without copying... which results in a mess...

And:
Sometimes you need to exit the window to c stat changes, cause they are programmed by scripts and the script needs to "investigate" the change first... Stats arent changed when you equip the artifact. They change when you leave the window.
