The hero is Veyer, a Demon Lord.

I'm still confused with several changes (compared to ToE).
I hope another hundred hours playing make things more clear to me.

What is that RENEGADE thing?
I got a knight out of prison and his specialization was tournament champion but included renegade in the name -" hero has +2 attack, -2 defense and receives -2 morale penalty if hero picks light magic"

Never played any...

I tried Vanilla once but the first mission(or the second) was buggy so I couldnt continue forward so I ditched it.

I've noticed, since MMH55_RC2a.exe, slightly different alignment for some heroes. E.g. Rolf is assassin/death knight/rune lore character, Wulfstan, the same thing, Nicolai is necromancer/engineer, Alaron is paladin/ranger with basic avenger, same like Findan. I don’t mind really, in fact, I like the tendency of creating uniquely defined heroes, not only by specialization, but also with some hybrid characteristics. Although, map creators could create some maps that could explain the reason for strange hybridization, and, of course, update their biographies accordingly.
Of course, it could be some strange glitch I have on my computing machine.

RC2a did not include such changes. These problems are most likely caused by custom maps not compatible with MMH55.

So, after thorough exploration, this is how before mentioned specific glitch is created. Before naming the map I have to say that original intact map works just fine, without any strange glitches.

Before mentioned effect appeared only AFTER I opened the map in MMH55_Editor.exe, editor from MMH55_RC2a.exe, opened map properties, activated one more hero in "hero" tab, and saved changes. It doesn't matter which hero, the effect is the same.
The name of the map is Heroes of Ashan_ver.4.h5m, author is Markkur I think.

I do this process, more or less, for every map and so far, only that map produced that strange glitch.

Same thing happens when I repeat the process with original editor H5_MapEditor.exe

That's a perfectly sensible explanation, the map contains conflicting files, which means it is not just a map, but also a mod. You change it, save it, the editor updates all the files so they overwrite files from RC2a

Hi i was wondering if i could get some help, ive been trying to make a custom impossible sized map with the utility but when ever i get to the selecting the map to play it in 64 it just tried to make me play slyvian instead of allowing me to select the race i want

Hi, you have to change the player number/flag color so the faction moves to the top of the list

Hi Magno,

A week ago we installed clean Tote + 3.1 patch + RC2a.
Random map was generated (index.bin and RMG template folder deleted).
The map has 4 players with random factions (not fixed) so anyone could chose whatever he wanted.

We started Academy vs Fortress.

unfortunately there was a desync at begining of month 2.

We dont know why this happens. I cant explain it. A fan from FB experience the same issue I will talk with him and let you know if there is some correlation between mine and their issue.

I played a Dungeon vs Haven map Survival map, Sinitar has best specialization for Warlock. He can reduce Empowered spells cost. It work excelent with Arcane Training. If I had a more time, I would play PvP game either on Steam or from GOG version.

This issue always happens to us around the beginning of month 2, when we play over Hamachi with autosave and simultaneous turns turned on.  Of course we have taken all anti-desync measures like removing index.bin, etc.  In trying to find out what was going on, I noticed that after a desync crash, the save game files on my computer and on the other player's computer were of different sizes.  We copied the save files from the host computer (his) to my computer.  Loaded the game, and Presto!  We were able to continue.  The desync would then still occur every few turns after this, but we are always able to rescue our game by copying the save files over again.  With one small glitch: Occasionally, when reloading after copying the save files, there would be some minor change on the map, for example a previously captured military post reverting to neutral and the defending stack reappearing, but the hero who captured it still has the extra units it gave him in his own stack.  Hopefully mentioning this will give some insight to any coders who want to examine this issue.

Great !!! Thank you HVKnight, I think I know why this desync happens.
I never had this desync until the last game I played. I think this happens when the game requires more memory than you can afford and than crashes (this happened to me). For a few turns I had some wierd issue where when I pick up some resource from the ground or kill neutral stacks they still stay on the map (only the animation) but are no longer clickable. 2 turns later my game crashed due to out of memory error. I think this is when the first desync happened but the game continued 2 weeks more and then we couldnt pass a turn.

We will try again. Same map same factions and I will try not to crash my game (I use other programms on the background). I will let you know what happens.

@HVknight could you tell us what PC configurations do you use and if you run any other programes on the background when playing heroes?

Great mod! I love your work, it makes the Heroes V experience fresh. I'm still not sure if it's a good idea to have both Mark of the Wizard and Empowered Spells on the same character, but this is a subject to change as I'll be playing this mod a lot.

Anyway, I have a question - I recently started a game as a Wizard and I've seen that he deals a lot of damage with his regular attacks. I was wondering if that's intended (I assume yes) and what are the factors? Is the damage calculated with Spellpower?

I'm really curious about all the changes you've done besides obvious classes and skills. Is there a changelog or something?

The other thing, I'd gladly help you with the mod. I have a basic experience in programming (both scripting and OOP, mostly C# and Java though). If you don't need any help (or I'm no use for you), I'd like to translate Heroes 5.5 to Polish. How would I do that?

I am running it on Windows 8.1 with i5-4200H @ 2.8 GHz and 8 Gigs RAM. My friend's system is almost the same and also running Win8.1.  We are both launching the game with MMH5.5(64-bit) exe.

Yeah, I've checked the Facebook Page and the first post here. It's pretty hard to get into though. I think that these posts are great when you're following the development, but searching for info is actually pretty hard. Anyway, I don't mind discovering things on my own, but I'm really curious how is Hero's damage calculated - when I played my Wizard was definately too powerful without using any spells.

Anyway, I'm really hyped about this project and want to contribute in any way that is useful for you. I hope the language barrier won't be a problem. Heroes V is one of my favourite games and when I saw this mod after thinking nobody plays it anymore I cried a little.

At first I'll probably just stay here and ask different questions as I'll be playing this mod but I'm ready to help. I'd start with a Polish translation so I can play with my friends (they're not good with English).

PS. I forgot to say hello, I was too pumped. Hi everyone!

I doubt the crashes are caused by lack of memory if you use 64bit exe. i have only 4GB of RAM and never had a CTD when using 64bit in singleplayer. I think this is a bug that slipped in the LAN source code that Quantomas didn't update for his changes.

It may not exist in the Utility exe file.

In H55 heroes do roughly the same amount of damage to any tier as they did in TOE to only the highest tiers. It is not too powerful because you lose a whole turn for using it while spellcasting only loses 0.5 or 0.7 turns. If it is really more useful than magic, then you are behind on developing your magic skills. Combat will be effective for might heroes because they can speed it up with combat perks.

The text files are in MMH55-Texts-EN.pak, I believe someone on facebook also wanted to work on this, but I haven't heard of any updates on that.
