Best Friends, Needed Allies

JRR Tolkien and Jack Lewis

The link is to an excellent lecture discussing the critical components of a successful writing process. Though the internet is flooded with advice about writing, I think this man introduces the listener to an excellent case study.

I am somewhat of a JRRT scholar and I can tell you, the guy absolutely knows the documentation and delivers a lecture that is both humorous and sharp-witted. However, the strongest aspect of his presentation, is the connection that he "bridges" between the basic concepts of writing past and present.

He shares the lessons found in the relationship of the two great authors from a much different time, that are absolutely valid for the applications in today's efforts. <imo> Whether you are writing Lang-Programs, IT stuff or working on a novel of your own, this is a must-listen, for it should at least freshen your current perspective, if not shake things up a bit.
