"It shall be done my lord! I will send our stocks to our wagons."

And with these words Francis went to the local farmer's market, hoping to find a fair, he liked fairs, the commonfolk usually prefers to not spend too much time on bartering on those occasions and would gladly discount their wares...

This wasn't the case though, and it was just an usual day at the market, that didn't mean that it wasn't trafficked, the little market, mostly occupied by halflings, was an intricate maze of little stands filled with all manners of produces, Francis was eager to see what this little folk could offer him...

The knight walked through the stalls, watching silently the halflings wares, and looked for what his leader required, and after a few steps he realized that he had to pay some men to help him carry the goods to the company's wagons, not wanting to inconvenience his companions he took a few silver coins from his personal money and hired two burly looking halflings that were known for being available for helping travelers in this kind of businesses.
Together with this newfound company Francis browsed the merchants wares and managed to get most of the purchases done with some discounts here and there, the only thing that was left to buy was salt, which apparently wasn't to be found in the market.
Not knowing what to do Francis asked his helpers direction to a store that sold salt and the such, luckily for him the store was close to the exit of the town that was closer to the company's wagons.
But, he wasn't so lucky with the shopkeeper, an old bearded halfling that knew well his trade, and with the fact that there was a shortage of salt in the region since the last caravan was looted by bandits; Francis fought the best he could, with the old half man countering every offer accordingly and uncovering the knight's tricks.
The barter continued for several minutes, until one of the burly halflings warned Francis that it was getting late, the knight, not wanting to be defeated to easily made an offer that, unlike what he would have liked, would have costed more than the usual cost of salt, but still less than what the halfling wanted, which was more than the double salt usually costs, which should be noted that salt was pretty costly by itself.
Defeated, Francis accepted to pay more, but he managed to spare some of the money that he was given by Dragomir, he was a bit angry though, since the margin that he expected to save due to bartering was reduced considerably by that Halfling, but at least he managed to get good prices on the less costly things, which allowed him to spare himself the embarrassment of spending more than he was expected to.

He took with him the two halflings, brought the purchases to the wagons and gave them a small extra from his own money, since they were quite helpful (even during bargains) and, considering that almost an hour had passed, he went to the tavern in an hurry, managing to not be too late by sheer luck...

The exchange with the shopkeeper left him with a bitter taste in his mouth since that was the reason he lost so much time, but was nevertheless jovial as usual...

Elena quickly brought her hand to the sword as Magnus aimed with the crossbow but put it away once she realized what he was doing. "Try to reserve some for that for me" she said as he put the pheasant in the bag. She silently looked around a bit, finding some herbs and edible mushrooms while listening to Magnus' and John's plan. Declining the Wineskin saying something about being alert she followed the dwarf to a clearing and he whispered the next part of the plan.

Elena slowly and silently got herself into position, quite a bit later than Magnus she reluctantly noted to herself, and waited for his signal.

As Magnus and Elena left, John began the preparations. He found a boulder roughly twice as big as a zubr's head and tied his huge rope around it. It was a simple enough trap - you create a pendulum using a strong tree branch as its center, then you raise the stone at the end of the pendulum and secure it to something. When the time comes you cut loose the restraint, either manually or by more elaborate means, and let the stone swing into the target. John liked using this method. It wasn't usually meant for hunting, but that mostly because handling a stone big enough for to fell a beast was a job for several men and quite some time, so it was usually used as a guarding trap. But with John's strength such things could be used anytime and anywhere, provided there was a big boulder and a strong enough tree to hold it. Soon enough he was done and crouched down behind the forest foliage, axe at the ready to cut the rope.

John scratched his head. He couldn't figure out why would Johnas insist on camouflaging a very simple trap made for stupid beasts. He would've saved him some effort, but the lad was so eager to help, John just didn't have the heart to refuse him.

"Of course Drago though I doubt it will take that long." she said with a fake smile. Dragomir had broken her train of thought something she frowned upon though rarely openly.

She then departed to the center of town to find the necessary medical supplies. Wandering through town she happened upon some playing hafling children. She watched them for awhile smiling sadly to hear their merriment.

"No, I have work to do." she thought recomposing herself. She received decent discounts from the merchants in town, and after acquiring the necessary supplies went to the farmers market for the herbs. She smirked seeing a frustrated Francis bargaining with a salt merchant. Perhaps she shouldn't have as many of the herbalists seemed to be as irreligious as they were stingy. Still she managed to get what she thought were decent prices.

The entire process had given her a throbbing headache and the heavy supply filled backpack made nothing better. Still upon returning to camp, realizing she had not used her full hour, set about organizing the new medical supplies not trusting anyone else to do it right. Afterwards she took a draught for the headache and headed to the tavern. Seeing as neither Francis nor Dragomir was there at the moment she found a table sat down and began reading her book.

I took a sword-breaker with me, and quickly ran for the town. Now, a normal person would've just walked in through the gates, right? Well, I'm not a normal person; using my stealth techniques combined with acrobatic skills, I made my way into the marketplace without attracting any attention. "How? ", you might ask. Years and years of training pay off in the end.

I nested behind some large crates and started listening to the conversation between two halflings. Unfortunately, both were drunk that I couldn't understand a single word they were saying. I cursed and got a move on.

Magnus signaled Elena by waving his hand. at the same time the two let out an ear piercing whistle, which startled the herd. luckily for them, the lone bull, their selected target, fled right into direction of which John had set up his trap.
This form of hunting wasn't new to the group, as they sometimes, but not often took down zubri, aurochs and moose. Along the way Magnus made a lot of ruckus, and scared out several woodpigeons, which he took down with his crossbow. the bull went out straight to the direction of the trap, all it took now was for the half-giant to spring his trap.

Dragomir's search for supplies was a fruitful one. he purchased leather for making strips and for general repairs. he also purchased several bolts of canvas, which come in handy to be made in wagon coverings. there was a miners guild merchant in this market, but the stout dwarf, a member of Granith Clan did not carried metal ingots, only various untensils and other metalware. From the guild merchant Dragomir purchased nails, a new cast iron kettle(the one in use was of poor quality and was dented due to some missuse) Dragomir also purchased spare horseshoes for the horses, mules, and Magnus's ram. the animal was about the size of an aurochs, and was the dwarves' main mount and beasts of burden. As horses, they were also fitted with horseshoes.
Being statisfied with the purchase, Dragomir gave instructions to the merchant's helpers on where to deliver the goods. He then made his way to the tavern.
Like many halfling buildings it was a posh thing. only the finest wood was used in it's construction.
Dragomir entered the establishment, and found Isabella sitting by one of the tables and reading her book. Dragomir ordered a jug of kvass and an assortment of smoked meats. He sat down in opposite side of the priesstess, and offered her a ceramic cup of the beverage.
- Everything went well I presume?- He asked her.

-That, and a little waste of time that had a beard, that is the reason I couldn't arrive earlier." He still was thinking about that merchant -Anyway, all is done my lord, all was sent to the caravan, and I also managed do save some money- said Francis while handing the money bag to Dragomir.

Most of these halflings didin't have a slightest clue what they were talking. It was either "Look, I bought a new spoon" or "Hey, I heard beer's getting cheaper".

It was a complete waste of time eavesdropping on these fellas. That is, until I saw a wizardy-looking guy entering a poorly kept house at the end of a dark valley. Things got interesting, as there were a couple of not-so-friendly-looking guys standing at the entrance. One of them, a rather obese, ugly man, waved a dagger around the other's head.
I thought I'd get my comrades to help me check out the place, but decided against it in the end.

I pulled out the sword breaker I took earlier and crept close to them. The windows were barred with boards, so that way in was not an option. The door was closed and I had no way of entering without revealing myself to them. Luckily, I was protected by the shadows; I stayed in that spot and tried to overhear what they were saying.

"...not gonna work, ya bum!", said the fat one "I don't trust him. Neither does the boss, but he'll see if we can fool him for long enough to get the job rolling."
"Suit yarself, pig, I'm going to the woods later", said the other guy.
The fatty was getting angry. "The stash is safe, it's not like these half-brained midgets are going into the forest anyway. I just hope you didn't forget to cover the entrance again."

Things just got ten times more interesting all of a sudden. What was this stash they were talking about?

"Fer the last god damn time, that was not ma fault. The boss told me-"
"Yea, yea, keep it to yourself, sweetcheeks, I don't care."
"Then what do we do? Ah ain't standing 'ere wasting the sushine."
"If you're so eager to do something, then go see if you can take something from them sellswords outside the town! "
"That's actually a mighty fine idea by you. They won't notice a thing! Ah'm going."

This spelled trouble. I had to think quickly - should I interrupt? should I kill them both? should I break into the house?
The thinner man had already been on the move. In an act of confusion, I jumped out of the shadows and slit his throat. He fell to the ground and tried to speak, but only blood came from his mouth. The fat guy stood in place for a second or so, until he realized what was going on. He clenched his dagger and charged at me. Watching him run almost killed me as I could barely stay calm. He was such a sight that even the dead would start laughing. He swung his dagger, but I quckly got out of the way. He lost balance and fell to the ground. I immediately took his dagger from him and pinned him down.

"Who are you?", I asked him.
"That's what I'm supposed to ask you! What the hell are you doing here?"
"What I'm doing here is gathering intelligence. Seems like I arrived at the right time. ", I responded with a grin under my mask.
"Curse you, scum, you good-for-nothing spies! The wizard must've sent you, huh? I bet he's with Riwiyam, trying to shut down our gang! Dammit, I said I didn't trust him from the start!"
The fatso was furious. He spat on my boot and tried to free himself.
I decided to keep him for questioning, so I knocked him out, tied him with some rope I found on him and tossed him in the bushes. I grabbed the corpse of the dead man and hid it behind the house.

After I've checked to see if there wasn't any evidence of a clash left, I went straight for the tavern, knowing that I'd find Drago there. I took my hood and my mask off, not to attract much attention.

I saw the three of my comrades as I entered the fine establishment.
"Come with me, quickly. I think I've found something big..."
I took a few breaths and told them what happened.

There was a lot of noise as the beast made his way through the woods, destroying everything in its path. John saw it approach from afar.

Judging from the speed of its movement and the straight line its moving in, John thought to himself with his axe over the rope, if I cut the rope riiiiiight... now, the boulder should hit its *SPLAT!*

The half-giant put away his axe and began gathering the rope. The beast lay on the ground with his head smashed open.

I wonder if that's how I should have done this. There is plenty of things one can do with a zubr's skull. Still, we're here for meat and it's easier not to have to pick out shattered ribs out the beast's side.

Huh. That was perfect Elena thought to herself as the beast fled in the direction of John. "you go check with John, I'll go see if there are some herbs and such we could use" she shouted to Magnus as she walked into the forest, scouring the ground for anything useful.

She didn't have to look long until something out of the ordinary showed up: flattened grass as if something heavy had been standing there for quite some time. She wasn't much of a tracker but even she knew something was up and walked back towards the trap.

Finding Magnus and John there she hailed them. "Found something interesting" she said and filled them in on the details.

Dragomir finished his drink, and urged his companions to do the rest.
- Allright. where did you left that dirtbag Zet?- Dragomir asked.- Let's go. Lead the way.- His hand was near the grip of his sword. Dragomir did not forget to leave a few coins for food and drink to the tavernkeep, as he exited the establishment. It was a quick stroll, and soon enough, the fat man which was incapacitated by Zet was seated and Dragomir slapped his face repeatedly in order to wake him up.

* * *

- Oh did ye?- Magnus said, while raising his eyebrow- aye, we should check it, but first we need to haul the catch back to the camp.- he said pointing at the zubr with a smashed skull, and lifting up his burlap sack full of fowl.
The catch was quickly delivered back to camp, with John carrying the bovine on his back. the bull was well fattened for a wild animal. but it didn't gave much trouble for the young Half Giant. With the game secured and left in the hands of their fellow mercenaries, who prepared the meat of the zubr for salting and smoking, and the fowl for a stew for todays dinner, the trio went to get their weapons and return to the place where Elena found the patch of flattened grass.
Magnus examined it closely.
- aye, the lass be right. no animal laid here. someone moved crates or barrels or whatnot here.- He looked around. the patch was near an elevation, a tiny hill in the woods. nearby there was a large boulder.
- Hmm....- Magnus began thinking. his gut told him, that a smuggler's den was in that mound or hill thing. and usually, these things had a second entrance and exit point.
- Tis be a good find here lass. there be loot inside that hill. what we need to do first, is to find the bloody entrances. then we can block one with that boulder over there. I think the big guy is strong enough to move it.- Magnus paused and took a gulp from his wineskin.
- Allright, here's what we do. I search for the entrance around this side, you fellas go in separate directions and try to find the other one. I heard both of ye can mimic bird voices, so let's use the voice of a blackbird to signal eachother, allright? this way we won't cause unnecessary ruckus.

The man, opened his eyes, and upon seeing Dragomir's face he exclaimed "Took you long enough to find me, Blackbeard!"
He was obviously muddled by the knockout, though one could say he was all natural like that.

"Chimmy's dead, right, and boss' gonna get ya for that! That wizard, a basterd he is! Boss should've dealt with him by now", he said, but his voice got high and his threats, no matter how serious they could've been, were comical.

"Hey", I hit him in the head, "tell us who' s your boss and we might let you live."
"Ay, whatcha looking at pretty face?!", he yelled, "Ya ain't that smart, sunshine. Didn't your boss tell you who's the leader of our band? The grand Wezzu, master thief, the grand lord of smuggling! He runs this town, this kingdom! Everything you eat passed through his hands first!"

I turned towards Drago "He obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. Wezzu is, compared to the rest of the smugglers, known and unknown, all the way down near the bottom of the smuggling business. I know of him - runs a gang of a dozen of people. He's not a big threat, but, still, he has a bounty on his head. If he's inside this hose here", I gesture towards the barred building, "then we can get ourselves a pretty coin from him."

The fatty was trying to free himself, but the rope held well. "Lies, all lies! He told me personally we're a big gang, top of the chain! He told me there are many people with him, hundreds, THOUSANDS! All working in shadows!"
"Did he also tell you he shoots rainbows out of his ass?" I remarked, "He's been feeding you lies, and you, my friend, are particularly stupid for believing that."

I stood straight and streched, "I think everything's pretty clear here. We go inside, take out Wezzu, that wizard he's talking about, and find the town guard to deal with them."

The guy, now knowing the truth, changed the look on his face.
"You won't be taking me to the guards, right? I... don't wanna go to jail."

"That's up to Drago. He's the one who decides. "

- My friend told me- Drago nodded at Zet- you rats were planning on stealing from us. that is not very nice.
The look on the fat man changed a bit. Dragomir chuckled, and drawn out his kindjal. the weapon was a product of orcish blacksmiths, a true beauty indeed. the blade itself was darkened, almost black. on it's grip, made from the ivory of a fourhorn bull was an intricate orcish scrimshaw ornaments.
- We aren't what you slime think we are. Stealing from the Brotherhood of the Tattered banner isn't wise, and is certainly not advisable.the punishment is very, very severe.
Dragomir kneeled in front of the fatty, placing the point of the curved blade on the man's throat.
- looks like the porky is ripe for slaughter. Zet, what's the bounty on this Wezzu joker?
- 150 gold, either alive or dead- The rogue replied.
- Pretty big for such a lowlife. one and a half forint...- The currencies of the human kingdoms were of four types. a hundred brass coins, called copecks or groszcy made up one silver shilling. one hundred shillings made up one gold dukat, talar or doubloon, depending on the region you're in. And one hundred gold coins made up a platinum Forint. while most currencies were round, the platinum ones were rectangular. Dwarves had their own money, called anvils by some, a octagonal coin made up from an alloy of which the dwarven mints closely guard their secret, with an anvil on it's reverse. dwarves themselves call them Marks. Orcs adopted the human currencies in the long term.
Dragomir chuckled again.
- Money is money I guess. Shall we go collect it?- He asked his comrades, while still thinking on what to do with the fat man. Dragomir had an urge to slash his throat.
- You'll be our ticket in- Drago said- Do this without any tricks, and perhaps I won't mount your head on a pike.- he said to the fat man.

"Done", I said as I cut the rope.

The man stood up and rubbed his hands.
"Feels good to be free, I tell ya"
He headed for the door and unlocked it with a key he pulled out of his pocket.
The door swung open. "I'll go in first. Act like you're here to join the gang. One of you should be ready to take out Gwelvith, the tall one, he's the right hand man, a dangerous one."

Elena searched the surrounding area without much luck. Then again she wasn't certain her calls would sound much like a blackbird anyway so maybe that was for the best. she did manage to find a few more herbs almost filling the pouch she had brought. Hope we're done soon. I want a taste of that tasty-looking pheasant she dreamed as she heard the call. Dragomir didn't looked amused. the lowly thugs who were deemed "dangerous" were usually of higher skill than the rest of lowly thugs with whom they hanged out. but only a fool underastimates his oponent in combat.
Drago gestured for Zet to ready his crossbow, pointing to the tall man which was supposed the all "dangerous" Gwelwith. Dragomir walked behind the fat man, with the tip of his kindjal at the man's back. this fellow mercenaries were waling on either his left or his right.
It seemed there were one adversary for each one, not counting the fat man. Dragomir had no intentions of keeping him alive. they were vermin, and if you leave them alive, they will go back and seek revenge eventually.
The building had one exit it seemed, and the company blocked it.
Dragomir gestured for Francis and Isabella to take out the two guards.
- Just don't let the basterd hit you this time- Drago whispered to Francis((I'm not sure if your dude is wearing his armor at this point, correct me if I'm wrong Neraus))
- We're here to collect your head- Dragomir said impaling the fat man with his kindlaj and signalling for Zet to fire his crossbow.
At the same time, he drew out his sword, and alongside the rest of his companions, readied for combat.

After a bit of searching, MAgnus found the entrance, hidden well inside the hillside, covered up by a makeshift cover made from a wooden frame and moss, grass, all sort of terrain to mimic the hillside. He let out a chirp of the background. soon enough he heard another chirp, coming from the side on which John went. Magnus decided to go and check out what the Half-Giant had found.

((In this moment my character isn't wearing his plate armor, but he is wearing a leather jacket under his clothes, also, I'm not really versed in fight scenes, so let me know if I have to change something))

"Oh, fiddlesticks, if only I had known..." thought Francis, who brought only his shortsword and dagger, not expecting to fight on that day, he drew both weapons, and took the first opportunity to lunge at his opponent; it was an attempt to surprise the guard, so he didn't put too much force into it, so as to be able to take a parrying position as soon as possible...

The tactic didn't work unfortunately, but Francis was able to anticipate the guard's parry, and retracted his attack before being put in a disarming position.

The two glanced at each other, waiting for the other to attack.
"Hah, got you, you sniveling rat!"
The guard tried to strike Francis on the shoulder, but Francis managed to intercept the guard's weapon with his dagger and landed a strike on his opponent's left arm, leaving him wounded, but still fit to fight.
