Okay I was very happy we can HOLD X and pick up items, move them away from shop keepers, then become hidden and steal everything without making enemies. Now I wonder if I can throw a bucket over their heads like I did in fallout3. As long as they don't move, they are blind I can take everything lolol

Impression day 2: It's a decent game though I am not happy I can't break down modified items for a chance in some adhesive. Maybe that relevant perk will make it happen though. For now though, it's a constant looting spree which has its pro's and con's.

So all the junk I just throw into the gas station. I probably have 2000 pounds of stuff in there. I am going to try this method: drop them then go into construction mode and scrap them. I have tried it with one item and it worked but need a little testing before I go on a dropping spree.

You should always drop the items to scrap them. You lose ton of resources over time if you use them "directly" from the items as everything you don't use goes to oblivion. That is one of the things they should improve for the game, an oversight that causes a lot of extra work for player in the long run.

Thanks. Does anyone know if the settlers go into the workshop stash? I am missing at least my minigun and I found close to 2000 5mm ammo on a settler .

All the settlement building and having to transport materials is honestly a frustrating. I still like the game but this is not a feature I like at all - yet.. Maybe it will grow on me but as of now its an annoying focus and a primary one at that.

Yay.

I did buy the computer version but I have to wait till the workshop shows up or something.

@Celfious

Settlers shouldn't go to your stash, but if you found your stuff on your settler... I've put ton of things to the stash and my settlers at least haven't borrowed anything, all use the crappy pistol they got(I would so appreciate if my settlers would go to my stash and properly arm themselves). You sure you are using the right stash? Also if you try to use stash from different settlement you need to have supply line connected to the place.

I gotta correct myself on the settlers going to your stash. They do go there and get your guns apparently if there is an attack to the settlement(experienced that first hand when my guys started shooting mini-nukes everywhere when bunch of ghouls were running around). If you want to keep your weapons safe I suggest you build a safe somewhere and store the more valuable items there. I've generally kept my defenses so high on settlements they never got attacked unless they were brand new and not connected to my trade-network. Sorry for the bad info I gave earlier

I just arm my settlers.  I just hit level 39 and can craft high-end mods, so Sturgis is strutting around with a fully modified minigun.

Meh the idea of me going to manually arm over hundred settlers seems terrifying. I've only armed few guard-posts with snipers on the passing(I do have probably 50-100 almost fully upgraded guns in stash in case somebody attacks). I'm fine if my hangman alley wants to nuke it out with few fat-mans as defense accompanied with artillery. At least the fireworks are spectacular

Not that it's much different from some settlements anyhow considering I may have half a dozen missle-turrets + other stuff as defense^^

I was wondering about arming the citizens as well, I gave one some random loot and he didn't seem to wear it. But If it is as easy as trading to them, rest assured they will use it when needed, then very good.

And a safe for my random gear is an excellent idea thanks. I also tend to horde the better Aid types of items. That can end up weighing over 50 pounds easily.

I'm at work, have tried to google and wiki but have a lot of incomplete finds. What is cutting fluid for?

Cutting fluid is so you can make oil for yourself. I haven't found any other use for it at least. I think the misc. items you craft are for the resources only(feel free to correct me if you know other use for them).

So I beat the game.  As with vanilla Fallout 3, the outro cinematic is disappointing.

As to the plot, I do like how morally ambiguous it started to get.

I missed the skills and stat checks for various things.  Focusing entirely on perks felt like a step back for the series.

As to the modern incarnations, if I were to Rank them on the vanilla game only, I'd say New Vegas, Fallout 4, and then Fallout 3.  New Vegas later on was really helped out by some great DLC and I have high expectations for Fallout 4's DLC.

Rocket launcher is awesome. It's damage is increased both by the heavy weapon perk and the explosive perk. the 150 damage doubles to 300, which doubles again to 600 ! It's wack. You can mod a fire and forget automatic homing scope. It's even better than VATS, but without using your action points! Right clic on the enemy, then shoot in the air ; the missile lobes and thus bypass small walls! Heck, you can lock in the target, then shoot left or right, around that tree that's blocking you, killing monsters from the comfort of your cover! Get 6 ammo vendors side by side and buy those rockets easy. 2 shotted a mirelurk queen.

When monsters are close I use vats so the explosion doesn't kill me. Just use a stimpak after.

My first character was very so-so, I took every random companion out with me and hated the dog... wanted to get a feel for the world before I did any serious run through, took me almost 2 weeks, but I'm finally extremely hyped.

My new character is going to be a solitary ruthless killer while out in the field (he's always solo, wears a gas mask and black armour) he's friendly toward everyone in his settlement and settlers, enjoys a good drink and is always cheerful. Also going to play it on the highest difficulty, I want to feel like I'm being challenged (even tho enemies essentially become bullet sponges Grrrr rather than a dynamic difficulty increase).

Can one even consider people like Autumn a boss from Fallout 3, for example? I think not.

Huh? I am talking about how they are being implemented now. Bland bullet sponges its boring. I cannot talk for Fallout 3 as I have not played it.

I had no idea difficulty effected enemy hp(been playing survival and it only speaks of more legendary enemies...). Most enemies die with single shot to head with sniper, tougher enemies take up to 3 shots. I think the stealth bonus is way too big in the game as nothing really offers challenge(in close quarters explosives + shotgun will work wonders).
Started another game as melee hero and I can't say I feel the challenge(sniper was more tedious but still more challenging also). Even enemies like mirelurk queen tend to die with 1-2 full VATS sequences as melee. Also the manual crit is ridiculous, you can snipe from distance at enemy head with 1% chance to hit, activate crit and it hits for sure with max damage. I feel like the battle system(and game in general) was "streamlined" a bit too much. After the first game I felt like combat skills are the only real worthwhile perks

Btw I must say that I really hate the games RNG for the "legendary" weapons. As my sniper I always kept getting melee and full-auto weapons(got 2 lousy snipers in the entire game as legendary!!!). As melee hero I keep finding snipers and full-auto weapons!

Ohh and why can't you play actually evil character in the game? At best I would say you can play mean character... All the dialogue feels useless, I first played good guy, 2nd time "bad" guy and I think basically almost all dialogue is the same or it throws you out of discussion till you choose the "right"/good dialogue. I don't even bother to read the answers anymore because nothing changed between evil and good characters...(I don't think I found even single discussion that lead to different results having played half way the game roughly)

The whole dialogue system is very shallow I have found. Shame, as that is one of my favorite parts of these kinds of games.
