New player.

Hey there,

Just bought game from Steam during this summer sale.
I must say, I am a bit disappointed... all these locked features/heroes/artifacts...

I was being slightly shocked when I attempted to play Hotseat and had only four towns available with only two heroes for each of them...

Was checking around the interface, bought all those free heroes/portraits... but still, feels like I am playing a free-to-play browser game. Sad part is, in offline mode, I can only choose two heroes from each faction...
Not saying that I will play offline mode only, just that it feels sad that HoMM game is limited for being
Customization mechanics, dynasty - it is a cool feature, but unlocking is killing whole game in my opinion.

Tell me please, are dynasty weapons/traits present in hotseat games?
Afraid that they are... given how in offline hotseat I am limited with heroes...

I don't mind unlocking... but this feels like low blow from developers.
Imagine playing another strategy game, Starcraft for example. You start multiplayer game, you get a message: Since you haven't completed Terran campaign, you are only limited to SCVs and Marines.

You can go to My Dynasty and create your own hero with any specialization you want.

There is an option to have a game with or without Dynasty Bonuses. in map MP, a lot of people play w/o Dynasty Bonuses since they aren't properly balanced (or not balanced at all).

In duel MP, i almost never play with Dynasty Bonuses, not only because they aren't balanced but also because they make the game crash more often.

Hello there!
Sorry if I'm incorrect, but it seems like you're just playing the offline version?
Yeah, it's pretty lame that most of the content is gone if you're not connected to the internet. But you can access the rest of the game by simply connecting to the "Conflux". You can make your own hero, etc. I can't remember all the features specifically. You need to have a a Ubisoft account to do so, but you probably(?) already have one, I think you need to have one to open the game but correct me if I'm wrong.
If you are already connected to the internet, just listen to NamelessOrder and make your own hero... it is fun!

Nah, you got me wrong. I don't intend to play in offline mode.

I am just sad that this kind of feature is implemented in a strategy game... Traits/bonuses, unlockables for more bonuses...
Would understand if it was hack'n'slash type game or some shooter. But this is kinda dumb.
Like I said, it's a cool feature, it lets you customize your hero much more, which is awesome... but I hate the part that I have to grind those points for stuff...

I never was a campaign player, nor I was chasing achievements around games. I always enjoyed HoMM series because of awesome skirmishes and random scenario maps.

It would be fine it were cosmetics or some sort of bestiary. Or maybe for fun of unlocking some campaign only heroes, just like you could set starting heroes in HoMM3 for specific maps (Gelu, Mutare, Kilgor and such)

Oh, okay then. Sorry for the misunderstanding ^^
It is kind of sad. That's why I have been playing Heroes 3 more than Heroes 6 ever since I bought the complete version off of GOG.
I was never much of a campaign player either, mostly because it requires being actually competent at the game and sadly, I am not. I tried the Sanctuary campaign on 6 and I stupidly chose the blood path instead of the tears path...now I am stuck and I'll have to restart :X
But I'm pretty sure you can make a hero without doing anything, or maybe just the Prologue campaign, which I somehow managed to beat so it can't be that hard
Maybe that will be different in Heroes 7. I haven't really been keeping up-to-date on it, so it might be confirmed either way and I would have no idea. All I know is that the Beta came out and you can pre-order it too, which I might be doing
I think that achievements should be a thing you find accidentally(or look up online xD) and you get a bonus to the original content. Not something you have to do to play the game the way it was meant to be played. Feel free to disagree though c:

Well that's what the devs tried to make a different Heroes game. And I hear that it is playable only after it is fully patched and having Shades of Darkness add-on.

Though it is even unwise having to connect. There are stories that if Ubi's servers fall or shut down, the game cannot be played. Well, this may apply to Assassin's Creed, but as you can see, it is harder to play off rather than on line.

Fortunately they at least excluded this non-sense in H7.

I hope they make 7 more like 5. There was no online nonsense, and I'm okay with losing the ability to access my previous saves and etc. if I play on a different computer if it means that I can play the full game without an internet connection. My home internet has the bad habit of randomly going out, so autosave is a blessing for me, but even so it's annoying to be in the middle of a game and then I have to reconnect and all that.
6 is fully playable for me(when my internet isn't going out at least) and I don't have the expansion. Though I'm sure it would be nice to have, I don't plan on purchasing it since 7 is coming out anyway and I need to pre-order that ^^
