I think it's more along the lines of: If you're not unattractive you'll most likely end up with someone in your general vicinity.
Educated people are more likely to end up with educated people because they work together or meet due to their career choices.
I think it's more about chances of staying together where the whole being nice, interesting, etc. comes in..

Yes I agree. An orthodoxy of political correctness in which the accused shouldn't even defend themselves is just a thinly veiled form of tyranny. Hyper political correctness is treated like a new thing but it actually isn't: very similar social phenomenon have existed throughout history.

I'm an arrogant prick and I don't usually care if I will be called out or not. It's just how I am, I'm fundamentally not meant to agree with people who are weak-willed or overly zealous. And I will be a jerk. It's natural. It's understanding why you do what you do that matters.

For somebody that claims to be a prick, I find you to be a pretty nice guy, at least over this forum

The thing is, the same blonde joke can come from a feminist woman or an actual jerk who thinks women are inferior, your personality is part of your context and on the internet, that can be a source of uncertainty a lot of the time.
Of course, women's logic is also logic but a)we still live in a system mostly structured according to male expectations and preference, a century or two wont change every tradition like a magic touch, b) there are actual, real differences between the way male and female brains work, take it from an anthropologist woman if you like. These differences will always be a material for humor this way or the other and I think that's okay IF there is actual equality between genders, not just on paper but on every aspect of social life and tradition. Men will make jokes about women and women will make jokes about men, because we expect a lot from each other and those expectations are never perfectly matched.
While most Western countries made very significant progress in this matter, no place is still perfect. I live in a country where sexism is overwhelmingly real and brutal in some aspects, especially when it comes to rural areas. I go through and witness the issue first hand, (well, maybe second hand since I am a man but still, it also affects you when it affects the women you care for), and I can say some of the stuff that is getting a reaction here on HC seems like fighting over a sand castle to me. I understand one can argue that progress on such matters was the result of such sensitivities in the first place but there is a point in political correctness where it turns into some sort of auto-correct feature of a writing software, where it blindly starts to change things without paying attention to the context.
I speak about all of this in general, btw. I haven't read what fred recently wrote, I remember from the feminist thread he and Adrius had a discussion and on that particular discussion, what was considered okay and non-sexist for fred, was not perfectly okay for me either. While I also don't think he hates women or anything like that, sexism will not always be necessarily caused by hate, think of a farmer from 1850 who loves his wife and daughters more than anything in this world, most of his conduct would still seem incredibly sexist by today's standards. Sexism is rather about your perspective, not about your feelings.

There is a huge difference between the girlies you date at 25-30 years and the women you date after 40. The last want you to be ruthless shark, nice, intelligent, playing stupid sometimes, money making (no matter how), arrogant, humble, conqueror, protector, jerk, simple and complicate, + and -. No pizza talking.
And it depends heavily also on the environment you evolve in. Higher you climb in the social ranks, more you have to know your text by heart; one tactical error and you are out of the game. Love can also be a cruel game when there is real concurrency.

No offense, Sal, but sometimes you sound like an article from Playboy. "To know your text by heart." It's only real when it doesn't feel like a game. Or let me put it this way, the little games can be the seasoning, but if they are the main dish, you are only managing a relationship instead of getting shot right in the heart. I'm 38, I fooled around, after so many years, the real thing hit me once again, there was no text, there was no cunning tacticts. I just love being myself around her. There are moments, of course, when you hold back on some stupid thing you would say if you were 25, but that's not the central mentality of being with someone. When you love, yes, you invest yourself in it but love is never an investment.

Well, I wasn't "single" for the last 3 months but looks like I'm going to be again for sometime because we had a huge fight last night. So, I should have been like going to the bar (HC) and trash-talking about her to the guys but I just dont feel like it. You see, that's the thing, I strongly think she snowed up a real good thing yesterday but I never think like "if I had played my cards right..." because that's how I fell in love in the first place, by NOT playing cards.
