[MMH5.5] New Artifact Framework

Are you tired of walking around with 4 cloaks of sylanna and 5 bags of endless gold? Welcome to new artifact framework!

Currently NAF will add 34 new artifacts to the game including 6 new ultimate items. The effective amount of artifacts in the game will now be the same as H3SOD. There will also be many new effects, in terms of unique effects the variation is actually far greater than H3. Furthermore Smart backpack items will increase the amount of effective slots to the same amount as H3/4.

Balance notice:

To allow more variation statboost go up to +6, the combat damage formula will be adjusted as 0.33*(A-D) instead of 0.5*(A-D). (Otherwise combat damage would be even more excessively fast-paced) In other words you will gather more attack/defense over the game but they have slightly less value. Therefore various existing artifacts have undergone some changes: dragon artifacts boost by +4, dwarven kings +5, other artifacts will take the spots at +3. As a whole the system is designed to allow an artifact for every number (like H3)
After the implementation of NAF primary skills in H5 will be perfectly balanced! Attack is no long worth more than the others and knowledge has more value thanks to resurrection artifacts (see below).

SPOILER ALERT: I kept images small so you can decide not to click if you don't want to see any new artifacts before playing.

New Ultimate (tear of Asha level) items

The ultimate items can only be found by exchanging a full set of relic artifacts at specific locations. The quest system is active on every map, but practically you will need to play large maps to have chance at finding one of them. It is unlikely you will find more than 1-2 on a normal XL map, maybe on XXL+UG you can find more. Take in mind all artifacts have become more rare because the total amount has increased!

Horn of Plenty (boosted)



New 'H3 Legion' series of artifacts

Economic artifacts will work from the backpack but have smart restrictions to prevent having too many artifacts active simultaneously



New H2/H3/H4 resource series of artifacts

To add more fun with those they can also be offered to temples to help your elemental population catch up with the rest of your army on XL maps



New H4 resurrection series of artifacts

The injection of these artifacts in the system will cause knowledge to be a more valuable primary skill by transforming mana in a resource to save creatures. Might heroes will have difficulty using them. They will not work if your mana is depleted in the battle.

How does the resurrection artifacts work exactly?

it says you lose 6 mana to resurrect 50% of native tier 1 troops.

So basically if I play Haven and kill 100 PvE pesants on the map half of them will be resurected and join me only for the cost of 6 mana?

Or it works only for tier 1 from the Hero army?

Resurrection works as the H4 resurrection skill, you can only revive a % of your own army, not the enemy. resurrecting higher tier creatures is more expensive. native means a paladin cannot resurrect pixies etc.

NOTICE: Entire mod has been reuploaded because of critical bug!

On the contrary, since a lot of new artifacts work automatically from the backpack the AI requires less intelligence to use them. The other artifacts work the same as any other statboost artifacts.

No, I restructured the files for faster implementation, but I postponed it one more version because I wanted to have a clean testing ground for NAF. The real big issue with NCF however is that, unlike NAF it cannot work with the RMG.

Errors:

Hey if i use temple of summoning i get:

Script error: attempt to call a nil value.

Another thing:

I made a testmap with hundreds of artifacts in. But so far only Ring of Shadowbrand and Golden Mascot of the Legion appear - and others dont.

Did something went wrong?

All scripted question boxes generate a false error message in the console,

For your map you need to remove the table of artifact restrictions in map properties -> artifacts, try set it to uncheck all (not check all, is bugged)

otherwise open the zip manually and set the xdb file entry as follows:

<artifactIDs/>

That always works.

Artifacts working from backpack have yellow backpack indication, higher tier legion artifacts override lower tier ones, but you can make more active by moving them to secondary hero

I just walked around with 100 artifacts including all new ones without problems, This is far too vague error report. Also are you running clean MMH55 or own mix of NCF,balance changes and heavily scripted custom map.

hmmm only ncf megapack. I know its a vague error report. But couldnt tell more. There are no scripts on my map. Just around 20 artifact merchants and around 200 artifacts and 2 cities. Was on multiplayer  hot seat.

'only ncf megapack'.. LOL, that's like begging 31j to crash. NCF was already reported unstable in 31j hotseat by multiple users long before first release of MMH55. That's why I don't trust it and also because Quantomas told me years ago the hacks are not sufficient to really add new creatures to the game, there are many loose ends in the source code.

If you want to continue on this road I recommend trying to hack MMH55_Utility for NCF, against humans you don't miss the AI but you will have to miss 8 skills.

New artifacts appear on campaign maps. I get a legion artifact(tier 1 creatures). Also appear a cornrupcia artifact. Tested Haven Campaign for 4-5 hours and didn't encounter a single crash or bug.
