My own HoMM IV in my dreams!

* Added combat choice for the Heroes before the combat.
Option 1: Hero will not join the fight, he stays passive, do not dies but gains half experience from the battle
Option 2: Normal type. Hero will fight, kill, die and do not gain exp when dies.
* Retreating heroes returns the tavern and cannot be recruited next in few days. Minimum recruit day is 2 (days formula is distance of fleed to between town)
* Units No longer picks resources, items near the creatures
* Thieves guilds no longer accessable to everyday. You can use thieves guild now once per week.
* Units no longer grows daily. It returns to normal Heroes of Might and Magic system (weekly)
* Most of the useless buildings reworked.
* Stealth skill has removed from the game
* All of the heroes have their own abilities (Like the HoMM 5&6)
* Simultaneous turns added (Like the HoMM 5)
* When you add your own unit to your friends army, you will access and use the unit instead of your teammate (you will control in the combat)
* Added merchant you can buy and sell artifacts.

An artifact/black market would be nice, but other than that I think things are fine as they are.

Edited: Actually, the Heroes having their own specialties could be nice too.

Stay with homm5 or 6 then. The only useful thing I can see here is simultaneous turns.

I like H4 as well and I don't agree with most of what's proposed. There's no reason at all to remove Stealth skill. Black market and simultaneous turns would be great though and I'd really like hero specializations as well.

One thing the NWC wanted to implement but couldn't because 3DO forced them to rush was a neutral "Outpost" town. That's really something I'd love to see come true. Other than that, more exiting town screens that doesn't look so similar to each other would make a great mod if achievable.

If possible, adding another creature to choose for each level would be great too. It's almost already doable for most towns (Asylum for instance, has troglodytes, evil eyes, goblin knights and megadragons as neutrals of the same alignment).

You know a HD mod is in progress. New town screens were suggested to fit the higher resolutions, so you should raise your voice. The tread us on celestialheavens.com
