Call of Chernobyl BETA Download

So... I stumbled upon a link for a leaked beta release of this. Call of Chernobyl is a S.T.A.L.K.E.R mod that is massively free-play(which I obviously didn't create).

So to cut the long story short, this thread is an installation guide for that mod.

Download link:

Instructions:
* Download the files as a zip (1)
* Extract the files to any directory of your preference (2)
* Install the game (3)
* Run the game (4)

Thanks for reading this guide, enjoy! Just kidding, this wouldn't be an install guide if I didn't include how to install things the right way.

Of course, the first thing you need to install is the modification itself, but be cautious, you need to put it in its own directory. The mod is standalone and doesn't require the original Call of Pripyat game on your hard drive. For this you run the setup, which is, for people who didn't notice, named "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Chernobyl 1083 FULL setup".

After this, you'd still have quite a bit of files, and there isn't any readme included with the files, which is the reason this guide exists btw. Then there's this 7zip file that says OWR3 Lite for CoC 1083 That is Original Weapon Renewal 3. The game is way better with OWR3 lite than without, it replaces the weapons with better ones that have more modern models, sounds... It even replaces the crappy knife animations that exist in the original Call of Pripyat game, and what's better is that it adds more realistic scopes(you can actually see the scopes themselves instead of a special HUD made for scopes). While 1083 is the version that you installed, make no mistake, since the title can be misleading. While it works with the 1083 version, if you were to install the patches 1.0.84 to 1.0.9, you will get this little error that happens each time you attempt to start a new game:

So what is the correct way to install it? Quite simple, you install it after the patches 1.0.84, 1.0.85 and 1.0.9. If you do this, it will work, but you're not quite ready to play yet...

Oh and by the way, if you're wondering how to install the patches, just copy them into the game directory. Anyways, first you will have to put in the "Aim sway fix".

NOTES: If you will use DirectX 10 or 11 instead of 9, you will have to use a fix in order for the weapon scopes to be correctly centered, located inside "DX_10_11_scopes" file. Open the folder in that zip file and extract "gamedata" into the game's folder.

And by the way, if you don't have Call of Pripyat(the game this mod is based on) make sure to use the CoP Registry file for adding in the registry files that correspond with CoP.

In-game Notes: If you take a look at the game part of the options, you will notice 2 new things, "Techinician feature" and "Radio Music"

That latter is pretty self explanatory, while the first is a realism feature which requires you to wait 10 in-game minutes before you get your repaired weapons, as opposed to the original Call of Pripyat where you instantly repair your weapons.

Final Note: If you haven't already, I advise you to play the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series or at least read the S.T.A.L.K.E.R wiki in order to understand the why and how in this game, but it's quite enjoyable

Gameplay Images section(updated twice):

Question and Answer Section:

RESERVED FOR USER QUESTIONS

Question: What is the Spawner, where is it and how do I use it?
The Spawner is a little tool that spawns objects, NPCs or mutants into the game. There have been such tools for the vanilla game, but in my opinion, it's in Call of Chernobyl where it makes things interesting. First of all, the Spawner is only available for the Debug version of the mod, since it was made for debugging reasons. To start the game in this mode, launch the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Chernobyl DEBUG" shortcut on your desktop. If you don't have such shortcut, navigate to the mod's directory, and run start_debug.cmd(start_debug, depending on your system options)

After doing so, you can now start a new game or load your saved-game. After doing that, you will notice some changes in the HUD, particularly this special information shown on the screen that is used for debugging, and other sqauds in your faction will be shown like primary quests in the map(they aren't quests though ), as shown in here:.

Now what you want to do is go to the menu by pressing ESCAPE, and in the menu, press the key S. You should now see the Spawner Menu, like in the following image:

Now you can summon pretty much anything you want, for example, if you want to summun mutants, click on "Spawn sections" under the "Spawner" tab, and scroll down till you see NPC(mutant) and/or Squad(mutant). The first is for a single mutant and the latter is for a group of mutants. Now this part gets a little bit tricky, because you will need to spawn the mutants in the smart terrain that you are currently in. For this we will make us of the debugging information. At the top-center of the screen, you should see something like "-Task Debugger- val_smart_terrain_X_X(X here is for number)

[Look for the black circle in the image above...]

So now, under the "Mandatory if Spawning Squad" red text, select the correct smart terrain, and then from the mutant list at the left, double click what you want to spawn. For example, double clicking "simulation_gigant" will summon a pseudogiant. Enjoy toying around

Gameplay notes section:

(This is for people who will play the BETA or even the mod itself)

1. When playing with certain factions(most notably Monolith and Bandits), you might face unexpected hordes of mutants, or simply groups of mutants that are really hard to fight(mostly controllers and pseudogiants). There are some known ways to counter-act this. And if you know how to deal with these kinds of situations, the game might become even more fun actually! First of all, it is possible to fight Controllers and Burers in the open with barely getting damaged. This is done with the following:

* Luring controllers into anomalies(this hasn't been tested with burers yet). If successfully done, the controllers should be stuck there, now you should be able to easily take them down, either from a distance or just close-up by using a shotgun or any other close-range weapon.

* Bringing other people from your faction with you and using them as fodders for mutants such as boars, snorks and rats. This is also done with pseudogiants and burers, except differently: You have to make your friends attack them, so you can take them down comfortably from a distance(that sounds like a dick move, but any S.T.A.L.K.E.R play had to do that at some point ).

* In case of encounters with mutants near the base, if possible, lure these mutants into the base. The best one for doing this is the Monolith faction base in Pripyat. Bloodsuckers and just about any mutant would attack the trader(who is made immortal in order to prevent quest-breaks or glitches) and you can shoot the mutants or hit them with your knife.

* In certain cases, it would be much more wise to avoid encounters completely. Such as when dealing with more than 2 pseudogiants, or unbeatable numbers of other mutants.

2. This is a beta, it might be glitchy. As a player, I would recommend enjoying these glitches and using them to do funny things instead of being frustrated or raging over a simple matter.

3. Some areas maybe a little bit "empty". I heard this was fixed in the official version that TeamEpic is working on(TeamEpic are the creators of this mod). Others, however, have quite the fun encounters, well, mostly with mutants. To make some enteresting fights, you may make use of the "Spawner", clarified above.

Disclaimer: I didn't create this mod, this is only an installation guide... And as of now also a guide to help anyone who is playing the beta with tips and tricks, and warnings.

Seriously, this thread is lonely, why isn't anybody responding?

This post is now reserved for any videos concerning the mod I might post

I wasn't even 5 minutes in, and 2 hungry bloodsuckers came to poop in my base... Yep, that's what happens when you play a leaked beta I actually hope they keep it like that, it's quite fun luring a pseudogiant into the base and watching him wreck havoc

Showcasing how Call of Chernobyl adds a feature I didn't see in the original game... Lock-picking! They even added some nice little loot behind the locked doors... Even though I'm not particularly sure if this works for normal doors... Or if there are any locked normal doors in the first place

Well, I would recommend that, but it might contain some spoilers in the game's storyline... So I'd recommend you first start with one of the stalker games, SoC or CoP preferably... And you're welcome

Seriously though, I thought somebody would at least ask something, why is the Q&A section bound to be empty?

It is, in fact, safer than you might think.

Note: New "Gameplay Notes" section which might be of help in certain cases. It will updated as I play the game(I don't really know much possible situations/funny moments right now)
I'm also considering deleting the Q&A section since nobody is asking any questions.

EDIT: Yet again, new images posted for people who are interested but don't want to spoil the full mod experience

Is the story that good that it's worth it? Because for example i have never finished any of the main quests from any Bethesda game..

Relax, S.T.A.L.K.E.R isn't like Bethesda games(idk why I think you're referring to Fallout by that ). It's pretty damn interesting, and if anything, there are some parts that are kind of a mind-blow

Notice: By the way, I updated the guide to include how to use the spawner to do some crazy stuff(for fun ), and now the Q&A spot is no longer empty I know there aren't a lot of people who are interested in this, but this is the last week of summer vacation for me, I won't have as much free time from now on, so might as well do what I can't do mid-year.

yeah, with bethesda games i meant fallout and elder scrolls series xD
Well, then i'll do it as you say, so should i start at the beginning or with CoP as you also mentioned. Also are there mods that are "must-have"?

Well, I'd recommend you start with SoC, no particular reason, I started with CoP and then I tried SoC, I can say I kinda regretted it... The choice is yours... Anyways if you ever play CoP, you might see some people that just say "Complete mod is A MUST HAVE", don't listen to them. Complete mod is just the most bull**** mod I've ever played. I played Misery, Redux, Oblivion Lost(a mod for SoC, if you're new to S.T.A.L.K.E.R, leave it to when you get experienced, that mod is difficult). There aren't much must-have mods in SoC that are good for first playthrough. I'd say maybe something like Automn Aurora 2 if you have a decent GPU and probably Original Weapons Renewal 3 for Soc(all these can be download for Moddb). I can't say much right now since I have to go, but for now, these are the ones I recommend.

Thanks By the way, even if you're not interested in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R storyline itself, there are many things you wouldn't understand in this mod, which is why playing a S.T.A.L.K.E.R game(any) is recommended.

And lol, this is the thread with the longest first post I've ever seen. Perhaps longer than the ERA II mods thread in the H3.5 section
