Of course. It was part of the factions offered to the vote, after all. We had some early ideas for it, in case it was chosen.

Man, one thing I'd be curious to know is how a more air themed nomad faction would be. Since "worshiping" ylath is basically: go to explore and enjoy the life. I think a faction like this could be very mixed, wonder what would be more fitting, maybe some pirate vibe? maybe something else..

Pirate thing is more shalassa territory and we already have nomads with the orcs. Perhaps more of a Tibetan themed faction might work and still be original.

...or something steampunk. After all, isn't the car associated with freedom?

I think that pirates are both ylath and shalassa. The hunger for exploration along with thr freedom of air. A tibetan faction is more earth and light oriented

The car is not steampunk.

Oh, why do you say that I really don't see it?

Seclusive, spiritual, self betterment, inner direction, harmony with oneself and the whole. These are light and earth principles. The closer to air faction we have is academy.

yeah, I'm not sure if tibetan would capture the "explorer" vibe. :S
Maybe with some changes.

Tibetan in aesthetics not philosophy. Also I really do not like principles being applied to elements it is very limiting and more than one set of principles could be applied to one element anyway.

One thing is sure: Ashan Dwarves are not steampunk / tinker Dwarves like in Warhammer or WarCraft, so they wouldn't have steam tanks or flying machines.
I think there is room for a tech/steampunk faction in Ashan in the form of a reimagined Forge faction in the post-Dark Messiah era, but that's another debate

Get all 9 factions in the game first and then we're talking.

Sanctuary was more chinese/japanese based I see what mean though as Sanctuary was kind of all of East Asia thrown into blender. Maybe mixing mongol and tibetan theme would work.

The car is not steampunk.

Early cars were. Or at least they were steam-powered.

Buddhist monk really. Buddhism was a common thing in most east asian nations such as China and Japan not just Tibet.

They most certainly did not represent freedom.

Can you elaborate on that?

Not that I think it matters. I think it is perfectly fine to take the modern image of the car representing freedom and translate that back to steam vehicles. Another option is the use of hot air-balloons. What gives more freedom than the ability to fly?

Fun fact: did you know that the first electric car was build as early as 1884? I certainly did not! (wiki)

They were not common enough nor efficient enough in their early states to represent freedom. And if our said faction had cars that were that efficient I would begin to question why the rest of the world is so far behind if not conquered out right.

Well, let's not forget that we know only of one continent in Ashan. We do not know how big the planet/world is, or what happens on the other side. There may be yet another continet with one more primitive civilization (Bastion) and one a little bit advanced (steampunk/Forge). That they have some machines does not mean domination, if we consider that other races have magic. So what if there was a race that was not magical at all, but had to compensate the domination that came by others due to their magic and advanced through tools, automata constructs and such?

Well at that point said race would not be Ylath's servants which was the original proposition.

Ylaths servants are the Humans. But Ylath does not want to be worshipped, so there will be no temple for him.

Also to what race do you refer?
