The KKK was formed as the terrorist wing of the Democrat party, focussed on terrorizing blacks into not voting after the Republican Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation. The KKK was born from liberalism, not from Christianity. The New Testament says anyone who claims to know God but who hates or murders is a liar. The KKK is anathema to Christianity. Jesus taught us to love God with all that we are and everyone as much as we live ourselves. He said those two things summed up what God expects from us.

Like it or not, it was the Republican aka Conservative party that was specifically against slavery, and not the Democrats. Though it must be said that the Democratic Party changed a great deal, for better or worse.
