The Language Lock
Hello HeroesCommunity.
I don't usually play Ubisoft games (I have no iterest in Assassin's Creed, Watchdogs and the like), therefore I'm not familiar with their recent practices. So let me ask you this:
Since when do they lock games language-wise?
I understand that our prices here in Russia are low compared to those of our western brethren... so Steam allows to set a "non-giftable" flag. That I can understand.
But why lock the language? So that we could play an inferior (read: "cut") product because we pay less? I could not find anything on the issue except for one thread on the ubi forum which had a developer representative answer something like "it is so because we decided so". Most of the threads asking the question are left without an answer.
I know I'm in the minority, the minority which prefers to experience things the way they were supposed to be presented. I also know that Russian translations often are of very poor quality, usually have no regard for source material and feature abysmal voice acting in almost any game ever translated, aside a few exceptions.
I am here to ask if anything similar is happening in other regions. Did they lock language options for their previous games? I could play Heroes VI in English just fine, why would they lock this iteration?

Could this be linked to the whole mess of Europe vs. Russia? That it is actually the Russian government who doesn't want English to propagate as widely on Russian soil?
But I feel your pain. English isn't my native language either, but I avoid games translated into my native language like the plague. Give me English  .

I bought mine over UPlay and I had option to choose one or more languages to install.
Anyway I think that you will be able to manually add English language by yourself.

It's kinda controversial, but take my tip, if a warning of that kind appears, don't use steam. Just avoid it, because I've known it to be a very picky piece of snow when it comes to language and regions.

Thankfully, games market is yet to be touched by the conflict.
