[MMH5.5] Polish Translation

Hello there,

Here's the first version of my Polish Translation of MMH5.5. I'm not gonna lie, it's a little bit rushed, to there is stuff that needs polishing. Most of the content is translated, mostly by using original localization and changing what was needed. I'll still work on it, but if want you may play it right now. I won't have a lot of free time now, so I decided to upload it already so you could list any issues.

Things that aren't translated yet:
- Classes names on Hero screen (I don't know where to find it); (it should work now)
- Seer quests (I hardly ever meet them though);
- Skill tree (the one you see when you click the tiny icon on skills menu - I think it's an image so...)

Everything else should be in Polish, but there may be some inconsistencies and errors (feel free to report them).

How to install?
Download the file MMH55-Texts-Pl.pak and copy it to "Data" folder of your game. If your Windows (and your original version of the game) is in Polish, it should automatically detect the translation.
It doesn't override your English version!

I don't like it, how to remove?
Just delete the file MMH55-Texts-Pl.pak from your "Data" directory.

In GameMechanics folder I can only see difficulty names and effects of Artifacts Sets (which aren't even used if I understand correctly).

I'm really happy that you added a link to the main thread folder, but remember it's still work in progress. I wanted to quickly overcome the language barrier for my friends and GF to let them enjoy this awesome game with me, so the translation isn't perfect. I will update it regularly as I encounter any errors and I hope there are some Polish players here that will help me with it.

Yes, I found them they are still in MMH55-data Gamemechanics/reftables/heroclass. don't have the internal names confuse you, they are totally illogical because of hardcoded issues

I've updated the translation with the classes names (I added a HeroClass folder from MMH55-data to MMH55-Texts-Pl.pak/GameMechanics/RefTables and it works)

@Magnomagus, would it be possible to translate the skill trees? If they are images, I can get around with Photoshop if you have the templates.

The images from the manual are in data -> UI/Doc/Skills/

I think translating the manual is essentially recreating it because in another language all distances/text spaces will be different.

Ok, I got it. I could replace the DDS files and all the icons are there, so it would be possible for me to recreate it in Polish. It will be a lot of work though and without a background template I will need to create my own. I don't know the fonts too. Anyway, maybe I'll do it someday, but no promises. The cool thing is I can add the folders with translated textures to MMH55-Text-Pl.pak so it doesn't interfere with the originals (tested, working).

I started translation in Bulgarian but that Cyrillic seems to not appear in game. Do you had similar problem? Any tips on how to fix this?

Sorry, I had no problems with polish characters in text. They worked out of the box. Are you working on a Bulgarian version of the game?

Hi Dredknight,

I tried with translation in Chinese, everything is fine.

What I did:

unpack H55 text pack, and modify directly in the unpacked files , and after translation , just repack them an rename the file name to xxx.pak and put back to date file (use a software to change the date of the translated pack to the latest date ) and remove all the English pack.

Take note:  If you are loading a saved game, some translated text will not appear, instead, text from old text pack may appear even if you have removed it.

So you have to re-start a new game to fully display the translated text.

You may encounter the issue that some words in one sentence is not properly displayed, you can try to create a empty text file and rename it with the name of 'widechar.chk' and put it in the date folder to solve this line-feed issue.

At least it makes Chinese translation perfect for display, but this is not good with English text display an the Language like that. Maybe others can solve it, you can ask the previous translator for H5 3.1 about how they solve this problem.  I got the solution of creating 'widechar.chk' from previous translator for H5 3.1.

If my version is in English how do I make it override the English version?

You will need to copy MMH55-Text-Pl.pak to your "Data" folder, rename it to MMH55-Text-En.pak and override the file (don't forget to backup the original file first). Also note there will be some leftovers from things not altered by the mod (a lot of stuff in English that's still there from the vanilla version - unit names, some skill names, old adventure objects, etc)

Edit: I've updated the translation yesterday, fixing some spelling errors. I have some spare time now so I shall play and fix anything I find.

Vanilla and HOF campaign texts in Polish Language are on heroes-fr site for TotE.

For the bulgarian translation here is what I did.

I opened the h55-text-en.pak. Opened heroes -> Academy -> Astral.
Editied the name from Nur to Нур.

Also edited biography from EN to BG language. packed the folders and put in the game. This is the result. Only the commas and dots are seen. The Bulgarian words are presented by empty space. May be the game does not support the language. Any thoughts?



P.S. You can see the name is empty. It is not if you leave it empty in the file the hero name will be NoName. It just cant represent the cyrillic alphabet. I wonder how the russians do it.

I won't be really helpful, but I added some cyrillic words to my files and I confirm that they don't display at all. Even when I changed the text encoding... still nothing. You'll need to ask Russian modders.

I have encountered same problem as you. Chinese texts for new artifacts translated are just blank, only displaying comma and Arabic numerals...  But the texts for old artifacts are normal.

Have you figured out ?

I have solved the problem.

Just need to redefine the contents of fonts folder in the UI folder of the data.pak

Or just create a new pak to redefine.
