Unfortunately, I can`t assign a material imported to the CB in "tga" format.

Hi

Quickly. I was a MM player then an HOMM one from 1 to 3. I played shortly the 4th and 5th. I have interrest in mapmaking. I m hesitant fo buy homm7 that have, at least, mixed players reviews.

From what I ve read here, mapeditor seems not very convivial, and perhaps lack of useful functions.

Is it right that if mapmaking a map for mp that just need decoration, is ok, making an interresting solo maps is far harder because of missing features ?

I m right if I understood h7 mapeditor need script ? Why dev cant make thing simple like for H3 or Stronghold (sim castle game in 2001) for exemple ?

My last question is for map size. I ve read it can be something like 800 x 800, but it means nothing for me. All depend of object size. If we image a territory in made with a castle half a dozen mine and half a dozen of special location, such as shrine, mills ect ... how many territory can you put on the largest map a modern computer can run without too much problem. It s imo a more significant evaluation than brut size.

Hi magick,

if you use the basic editor you can easily create quests, events and text/dialogues without any hardcore scripting.

Of yourse there is the possibility to do some crazy magic in Kismet (scripting editor) but that is not needed for multiplayer skirmish map.

I have completed all three parts as of now: basic - advanced - expert. So once they are translated you can use those tutorials to learn more about UE3 MMH7 edition

Right now: I am solving puzzles! (video guide how to create puzzle)

I can't publish my new map in the editor. After 4-5 minutes of publishing I get message "publishing failed". Why it could happen?

I wanted to start modding with map editor. I decided to start with the simplest task; changing texture, but I'm not able to do it. I switch to the unreal mode, open content browser and make a copy of centaur texture. Now I want to export this texture so I can edit it in GIMP and reinport but when I click export to a file and choose a name and extension for the texture, nothing happens. What should I do?

Yeah, I know Lordgraa's tutorials and I am subscriber of his youtube channel. He shows many great things that are possible with map editor but he never exports his files on video. So I still don't know what to do. I know this problem exists because I googled it and there was topic about it on steam forums but it ceased to exist(I'am redirected to main heroes 7 forums)

Hello!

To export textures or any object just use this powerful tool: UE Viewer

Then just edit the texture in Photoshop/Gimp and reimport it back!

Thanks for the reply! I knew about the umodel program but I hoped it would be possible to export files from the game without using any software other than heroes 7 map editor.

I am very disappointed today...

I am trying to create my own new faction for heroes VII, but after hours of modding my editor keeps crashing.

When I save my map (and it doesn't crash), close editor, open the map again, all the changes in the game disappear and I get the save state  from back, when I started before.

HOW DO I SAVE A MODDED MAP WITHOUT LOOSING MY ALL MY WORK?

One important rule for all mods: map name = package name!

If you name the package with all the modded things as you named your map then all should be saved.

But it has the same name, I did not change it! Nothing helps. Editor just doesn't seem to remember any changes made in the map. This is terrible.

Thats strange. Also where are you saving the map (to which folder)?

You can send me the map file and I can test it for you if you want.

OK, I will look into it today and will let you know.

EDIT: So, the map is fine as I added several new objects and saved it and then load it properly.

What might be your problem is that when you were modding it you could forget to link all objects and upon saving a map this is the most frequent crash of all crashes.

I know this because I had a lot of those crashes before I realized what was causing them. I cannot help you much in this. I just had to remember all the important connections that must be preserved after copy/paste/editing.

If I can recommend you a wise person, ask 3lion. He could help you with those problems as he helped me.

I wish you the best and I am happy to see someone else modding H7.

I know that I need to edit XYmapping in material editor but I dont know how to do it in UE3 Help anyone?
