Campaign talk *SPOILERS*

I think that, at least in the bare bones, it was designed in such a way that it could have belonged either to Inferno or to Dungeon. Hell, i wouldnt be surprised if Gloria would have been the main character. Hell with some name changes and minor modifications it can be an inferno campaign (although it would still require Dungeon to work)

-The campaign is about spreading chaos and manipulation, ie what the succubi/incubi do.
-Change the Karthal event with something else, like the bloodsmithers massacre.
-Change Malwen with some henchman who accidently reveals himself during map 2 finale
-Sylsai was a demon worshipper so releasing him makes sense. Besides getting revenge for the steal of the Invisible Library from Sheogh makes sense too
-Killing the ones sent to kill you doesnt require any change at all (other than the academy hero is Gloria herself ofc)
-Jorgen lesson about words starting words would have applied just as easily
-Vayaron role in the finale could have been easily done by demons too

Besides that, i believe the succubus in Academy 3 map is aupposed to her and i kinda have a hard time thinking that they actually arsed to make a fully done  Succuvus gloria portrait if she wasnt going to have a bigger role (for contrast see the half assed portrait of the princess in Academy 3 map)

I am still in mission 2 but if I had to guess Vayaran is on his way to becoming a demon worshipper. His babyface is amusing, makes it even harder to take him seriously ^^ Malwen has snapped a little bit.

I liked how the first map was drawn straight out of MMX but having to watch out for undefeatable sylvan scouts(that sometimes came out of nowhere) was lame.

His craziness is explained in the last mission.

I feel like having to be stealthy is a theme in Dungeon campaigns. Granted in the other 3 missions do allow you to properly build your town so the theke evenetually goes to hell but its definitely there at least during the early game with enemy heroes much stronger and having to avoid their "patrol router"

Iii get it now. It's tied to his red hair, isn't it. That would explains some pissiness on his end.

I do not mind avoidance but in this case I did not find it particularly well implemented. You don't even have a clear overview of the patrol routes while the roads allow for a long reach. Hardly a serious issue but one that annoyed me.

Not really. If you want me to spoil you just say it.

The way i had explored the map (plus some 2 reloadings) gave me enough vision to know when they were approaching but when they actually get inside the cave its absolutely terrifying. My other favorite map is Necro 3 because it requires stealth too, plus it has my favorite Death Kight and my replacement favorite vampiress.

Mission 2 was pretty terrible, why would anyone think that it's fun wasting your time looking for portals and underground passages to find the goddamn forts?

It might have been interesting if the AI did not suck and actually pressured you. Or if you did not have to waste your time looking around for ways to get to the forts. Or if you did not have 22 movement per day..

Turns out Malwen is stupid. Vayaron must have a soft spot for her, he was pretty cool about her screw up.

Seriously? When I encountered the first Sylvan Hero, he ranked "Average" to me (or "Severe", don't clearly remember ... I had piled all units on Ludmilla, took the fight to him and won, with some losses on my side). After that, I conquered the central Sylvan Town. Then I first took the other Town to the west, which was very low level, followed by the one in the south east. Finally, I took the one in the north, which was a bit tricky since that Hero was rather powerful.

Once I killed them all, I had free reign of the map and could complete it on my own leasure.

Remember i suck playing Heroes

They ranked severe for me or deadly idr. But I didnt pile my units on Ludmilla neither, but had them exploring separatedly. I captured the Sylvan town to the east for like 1 week before losing it and had to abuse the shelters. It probably wasnt the most effective way to play it, but i found it really fun. My favorite moment was when Orna appeared to the Reliquarium and was like "OH ELRATH FFS NOT THIS snow AGAIN!"

That and the banter between Ludmilla and Charna (and her changing-between-scenes voice)

Anyway im at Sylvan 3 and i just finally realized that its supposed to be the Oddisey. I mean the cyclops in the first map were kinda hinting it but idk what the second was about (does other dialogue come up if you actually defeat the Beastmen? I saw Academt ruins, is it supposed to be Circe island(s)?)

I just started Map 3 and the Lotus Eaters and Scylla and Charibdis references made it obvious.

Btw is Ashbeth the druidess mom?

Who'd have guessed huh



I started to like dungeon mission 3 and it still managed to piss the hell out of me before too long. I complete the objectives and I only have to defeat all enemy heroes. Except.. I already have? I start searching all over the map (I might have to kill someone next time they make me do it) and after a long time I realize that I have to.. rebuild the forts I captured. Oh for.. But then I could not return to the south-western fort because the shipyard places the boat to an inaccessible tile and it refuses to build a second ship while the first one occupies that place. So I end up dismantling a lvl 30 town to destroy the town portal and teleport to my first town. That was SO MUCH FUN. Can we ditch those pointless quests please?

Did you leave and reload before that? I only had like 3 bugs during the campaign but excepting the Necro 2 one, those were resolved by just reloading the save.

Anyway i had Vessel of Shalassa with Malwen so i didnt have a hard time in that aspect XD

A reload was in order because I was about to be attacked by an army twice the size of mine and I did not have the means to take both of my heroes out of there. Decided to send Malwen away and get the arrow tower perk from warfare to defend the town with Vayaran. Holy crap, that ability was so worth it. Where I had 30 soulless, he had 50 and 10 dark hydras. There was no saving that in an open field.

The final battles in mission 4 had some hilarious twists. I cast frenzy(scroll) on the 15 arcane birds and they almost destroy the titan stack! The 90+ djinns get inner fire (+55 attack omgwtfbbq) and insta-kill my 150+ soulless Malwen had a bigger army than mine(I had lost most soulless and medusae in previous fights) but my split medusae got luck against both the trackers and her own medusae on the first turn. Add a frenzy on her hydras and only 2 blackies survived. Magic kicks @ss in this game.

As for the cause of Vayaron's madness.. no comment



Onwards to stronghold. Finished first two maps, liking it so far. Nothing particularly exciting but I loved the oasis quest in the desert

Stronghold mission 3, I exchanged my dwellings and fort for yellow's town. I hope Imani will forgive me when she wakes up I could have defeated Melisande with Kibwe's upgraded army before moving ahead but.. why bother? Hopefully I won't regret it.

She won't do you any harm, trust me. She'll just go one way, then return, then go another way, etc...

As I was exploring the underground, I found three entrances to the top. So I just popped up through each to have a quick look around (as well as an early warning for enemy Heroes). Already the Thieves Guild showed me that the three AI players had no towns and only 1 Hero each. They were of the "Deadly" category, each featuring about 20-30 Champions and some 150-200 Elites, so I dreaded them entering the Underground.

But they didn't, they just seemed to roam about aimlessly on the surface. By the time I had explored the underground and collected everything there was, I had pulled all my troops together on my main Hero. At that point, one of the enemies was "High", the other two "Severe". So I waited a few more weeks, collected some more troops and brought them down to "Average" and "Modest". I figured I would simply kill them and be done with them - which was still a bit of a hassle, even with Pathfinding and maximized Explorer, because the sand dunes were eating movement points by the dozens.

Anyway, finally I catch up to them, kill off two of them in one turn. I press the "End Turn" button ... and the two I just killed simply respawn, with all their troops, at a nearby portal.

Also, I found the cartographer and revealed the surface map - but then once I found the Bay, a part of the map got shrouded again .

I did that too. You'll still have to defeat her in order to win the map though.

When she wakes up, don't use her. The xp and skills she gathers on this map she won't carry over to the next (unless this issue got fixed in the last two patches).

Stronghold was nice, esp final mission.

Enjoyed haven so far, I'm on final mission. The battle for Hammerfall was epic What do you know, a haven campaign that is memorable. In a good way

Frankly i cheated through last two havenmissions, couldnt manage to care since after mission two i realized i actually wanted to do Dungeon. I accidently broke 3 because i kept clicking "win combat" with Konrad lol.

I think that the best campaign order Council Hall narrative-wise is

Necropolis
Academy (since iirc Tanis is like stfu to Ana and Muz after Ana finishes her tale)
Haven
Dungeon
Sylvan
Stronghold

If you do Sylvan after Stronghold, the the final dialogue about comes off as null. And since Stronghold lesson is about fate, it comes as the "most important" lesson.
