I'd use the chaos to stage a take over of the local drug den down the road, jesus christ it's ok if you want to do drugs, but must you smoke so much weed and crack that you tease everyone on the ****ing street that walks past?

Those things would be completely rotted away after a week, unless its winter in which case they'd all be frozen and super-easy to destroy/avoid

Well, I'd prepare my helmet, my mail cuirass and bracelets, and finally an hammer, and then I'd be ready to stay in my home for a week due to my stash of supplies, and once a week has passed I'll try to flee with my car, since the wave should have diminished, if the buggers try to smash my door they'll meet the full force of the hammer of justice!
And yes, I keep armour in my room, I have photographic evidence!

Then the car would blow a fuse, after all you HAVE to break down near a zombie infested gas station(or your regional equivalent).

I still have my hammer and armour though, I'm not completely unprepared...
Also, in the neighbouring rural areas I may forage should I have an accident with my car, we still have forests rich with wildlife here.
I do have an OP starting location.
Actually, it depends on the house, I may also have a sword and a gun if I was staying in my old home, and access to means of growing my food, so I wouldn't even need to leave the house ever, and I have a terrace there, so if I made a rudimentary crossbow I could protect my house from invaders...
CHECKMATE ZOMBIES!
...
I'd have to stock up on wood and seeds though...
