In greek mythology there is only male centaurs of course (who will kidnap wifes of Lapithes).
A bit about Centaurs...
Dazzled by the charms of Junon (sister - spouse of Jupiter), Ixion (son of the king of the Lapithes who will be castigated by Jupiter and subjected to Hell in the suffering of the wheel) declared him his love. The goddess complained to her husband, who formed from a cloud a ghost similar to her. Ilion fell in the trap and this imaginary union gave birth to the Centaurs, half-man half-horse.
It is Hercules who exterminated the centaurs, but it is the centaur Nessus who, injured by Hercules, took revenge on him by giving to the young and jealous spouse of him, Déjanire, the famous covered with blood tunic that he dressed and was so poisoned fatally.
The Centaurs, invited to the wedding of Pirithoüs son of Ixion, king of the Lapithes, which lived in Thessalie as the Centaurs, wanted, being drunk, to kidnap the women, but Hercules and Theseus killed them or reflected them then.
But there are two welcoming, beneficent centaurs, unlike the violent and wild ones, and with another origin: Pholos, son of Silène and a nymph, which received Hercules, and Chiron son of Saturn and a nymph, that Hercules hurt by accident. Chiron was the wisest and most knowledgeable of the centaurs.
Hercules had as master centaur Chiron, grand master in medicine, astronomy and in music, and being son of Saturn was immortal. But he asked Jupiter to shorten the horrible incurable pain caused to him by an arrow of Hercules dipped into the blood of the Hydra of Lerne: Jupiter accepted and put the centaur in the Zodiac where he formed the constellation of the Sagittarius.
Aesculapius, god of medicine also studied in the school of Chiron. And Achilles and Aeneas also.
In brief you have on one side the raw inebriated and rapists, and, on the other one the wisest of the beings, which taught music, astronomy, morality and medicine and had as disciples Hercules, Achilles, Aeneas etc.

A personal point
Most of the units in the list have one thing in common, They have something from H-VI The model (case of Ghost, Assassin, Centaur, Lamassu, Medusa, and Black Dragon), or the coloring (Sun deer)
Only the Strider, Wyvern and Green Dragon are new in all aspects, and I would rather see that then the constant badly reused units.
The problem is, that most of those models are reused in a bad way. To similar, or a direct copy, of a something that was not so good in the first place.
Even in this game we see that reused units can look better then these do. The Haven line-up is made of 6 models copied out of H6, still it does not insult the eye like, for example necropolis.
Reusing models is not bad in its core, but has to be done right.
The biggest insult for me is the Medusa. One thing is changing the wrapping and selling us the same thing again, but selling us the same thing as something else is a bit too much.

I literally can not think of something they could do to anything else in the game that would anger me more than removing the minotaur. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't it the only unit that has survived in the same faction for every single game?

I REALLY LIKE IT, OK!?
I do like the gazelle-Centaur (skip the problematic fur-bikini though) but as alternatives an elite, halberd/pole-axe wielding female centaur in rough, kinda square armour (as in flat and with edges).
Second Lamasu with a hat.
I miss the H3 war unicrons. Those things were made for battle.
Justicar is perfect. New staple forever in haven mandatory.

Dunno the unit's history,but it is the most irrelevant creature ever in the dungeon line up(during its ashan theme).
Either change the name of the dungeon faction and take that creature away,so the line up makes some sense, or make a new line up composed of magical twisted creatures and place the minotaur there ,alongside trogs,medusas,manticores and dragons. You get to enjoy the past,and the dark elf line up finally gets consistent.
A stealthy linenup with darkness,renegade elves,and manipulation as its theme has no need of minotaurs or medusas. This line up the way it is ,is a joke and makes zero sense. Not to mention its synergy..

A creepy construct than can bounce on you is perfect for the underworld and it fits way better than any beastman or naga. Oh and it's "made in konos"

The Strider is an excelent example of an interesting idea gone wrong.
Why would one of the most magical, oldest, most knowladgable and on stelth an ilusions specialized races directly enter combat?
The Kabuki style also isn't that bad of an idea...
But in the end.. it jusrt doesn't feel right, and feels kind of out of place.
Idea... What If they took the H5 Treant model, cut of the tree top, replace the face whit a faceless mask and make it more mechanical and smaller? I think it would fit a lot better then this one.
My bigest problems with Dungeon are the re-used Meduse and Black dragons.. and the lack of Manticors.

It is that simple.
Two things.
1. Your argument is wholly opinion based, as is mine. The only fact is that the minotaur has been a part of the warlock/dungeon faction in every game. It is perhaps the single most iconic unit in the game.
2. You are arguing that it does not fit in the current dungeon. What you fail to realize is that the majority of fans (here anyway) don't like the current dungeon and would rather have it returned to the old school Dungeon, where it fit in perfectly.
Lets not turn this into a debate of old-school vs modern, there is no point. Better to agree to disagree and be done with it.

This might sound rude from me, but there is no reason to put unicorns in the game. There was vote and people voted against lineup with unicorns. Please get over it. I understand it is your favourite creature and you are disappointed it didn't make it into the game, but it isn't developers fault and it wouldn't be fair to the people who voted differently. If it happened then players who voted for phoenix or shadow unicorn would start to protest and all of it would just make the community more toxic.

Imho the problem is not the lack of unicorns, but what is in their place. Is there anybody who would deffend the Doe/Deer? Anybody?
