I like Civ6 graphics, I think they would fit very well to Heroes, especially the mountains.

Somewhat agreed but still in favor for a highly detailed 2D map, H4 style, with modern graphics.

I wouldn't mind the 2D setting back, although i would also like to see some 3D aspects here and there as well. If the art is really well donem detailed and the animations are rich, connect correctly and there is an abundance of them for each unit + sound effects, attacks and so on to keep the immersion alive, i would be fine with it.

It is not so much the 3D model for me as to the how alive everything feels. A unit that has only 3 animation or 4 is not alive. A unit that has only 2 sound clips is not alive. But when you see a variety of animation both for idle and attacking, special animations between units (Black Dragon and Titan for example, or Angel vs Devil) a variety of hit animation or be hit animation, death animations and so on, the battlefield because alive and dynamic. Also the battle system of Heroes V gave the alive feeling as well, because each unit could attack depending on its buffs and if you were too slow the next unit would attack and so on.

2D maps and creature models should in this era and time demonstrate a great amount of detail, realism (in the sense that the visuals can be seen very well, have natural movement and animation and so on) and feel alive.

In general, i think that having 2D might be easier to make each faction feel better together and have much better Townscreens. The problem will still be the scale and the depth and so on. But with a good studio, i think it can be possible.

Actually these issues were brought by the 3D, no scale or depth problems in the 2D games.

This is what i had in mind, from Banner Saga:
Banner Saga 1
Banner Saga 2
Banner Saga 3

And probably i am wrong Galaad and you are right, in the depth and scale aspect. I just thought that putting everything together in a drawn environment might be harder instead of 3D.

Yes, it does look good, but some may not like it because it has "cartoonish graphics".

In many regards, it has the formula to be a very good Heroes Game reminiscent of heroes III in the 2016...

I also agree it is not the point. That is not the reason not to play some games, which some people even pointed out for other games.

Banner saga is nice. Only flaw is their initiative system... no matter what, it's always 1 guy on your team, then 1 guy on the enemy s team... Which makes unlogical strategies worth it.

If there's 1 strong and 1 weak enemy left, don't kill the weak enemy because the strong guy will attack twice as often. Stuff like that.

Reminds me of CoH, which i liked but i do understand people who wouldn't want such art-style in a main Heroes game.

The point was to show how a 2d heroes could look. The art could be made different. I never meant that the art style should be like that. But even if it was like that it would be much more in line with the older games than the newer ones. Closer to heroes 1 and 2 say.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/274883/Ubisoft_CEO_stresses_creative_independence_as_Vivendi_takeover_threat_looms.php

Quote:
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot took a moment to stress the importance of creative freedom at the end of his company's E3 conference in L.A. today, an apparent gesture of defiance as media conglomerate Vivendi threatens to take over the game publisher.

Yves said:
This year Ubisoft celebrates our 30-years birthday. That means 30 years in the best industry in the world.

I love video games because the real innovation and magic comes when our teams and players are free to create. Free to innovate. Free to express themselves. Free to take risks and have fun. That's what got us here today, and that's what will drive us for another thirty years and beyond.

When you are free, there is no failure. There is only forward.

Quote:
While Guillemot didn't mention Vivendi by name (though he has openly talked about his disdain regarding a Vivendi takeover), it's apparent that it's Vivendi's advances that prompted such public commentary about creative freedom.

The Guillemot family founded France-based Ubisoft and also Gameloft, a mobile game publisher. Just last month, Vivendi succeeded in a hostile takeover of that company, which was run by Yves Guillemot's brother Michel Guillemot. Michel will reportedly help his brother prepare to fend off another expected takeover attempt by Vivendi, which has claimed it's not currently interested in such a move but does own 18 percent of Ubisoft's capital.
