I just got reminded Endless Space 2 is a thing... I'm so hyped I could cry...

A "bit" offtop but I went back to playing Endless Legend after a long break. There's enough new stuff to go around for a while. Judging by how good of a game EL is I suppose Endless Space, which is made by the same team (and shares the same universe), is probably also a great game, so your hype is probably well-placed 
If you didn't play Endless Legend before, I recommend it to you. You'll feel right at home

Well I can recomend Endless Space! In it's core it's a fun and simple game, but with enough content to keep you going for a while and/or return to after a break. Personally loves the element of exploration and the beautiful battle scenes!
And, yes, I've played endless legend. It's awesome.
