Alternative ways/rules to play Heroes 3

Hi everyone,

H3 have been my fav. game of all times and i've been playing it since it came out, so i decided to make here one topic aswell.
The reason why i made this topic is simple.

Seems i've been playing this game different way than others here.
Probably because i'va always played single player, campaigns, etc. Sometimes on lans.
As we know, single player compared to experienced players in online, are 2 completely different worlds.

The point of the topic is somehow to ask, have anyone played by any alternative/wicked rule?

I have played H3 and all versions of it mostly by rule "all creatures under main hero's army are only allowed from faction chosen in the beginning, same goes for scouts"

Imho it would be interesting to play some balanced template in online, if everyone would follow this rule. Factions up's and down's would become more clear. Faster towns would start always, etc.

This was just one example. Another one i have sometimes used, is - hide all battle grid and shadows, trying to guess "blindly". Just for fun.

For many of u this may be rather dull topic or can't see the real point of it. I respect it, but others, i would like to hear some examples

There was a fan-made map in which you could only recruit Flying creatures as one player, or only Ranged creatures as the other, for most of the game. I like that kind of change.

I once played vs someone who had lots of his own rules, I only remember that he prohibited ranged creatures. He got unlucky and lost pretty fast though

Hey, that gives me some fun ideas for creating maps!
Now, I am not sure it counts as a rule, but I like Dragonslayer Map 1 where you have a set number of creatures to survive with.

We actually created a map like that in our own campaign as well (Masters of Sighisoara).

In the most recent match of Heroes III with my brother, we played 2v6 on 160% where the rules were that we could only use units up to Tier 2 from our town and we had to use Diplomacy, on-map sources (i.e. creature dwellings), or puchased heroes to amass any further armies. Also, we could only move up to two heroes each turn.

We still haven't finished that game.

I play SP/impossible by the following rules:
-no DD spell
-no flight spell
-no unit chaining (units can only be traded in towns)
-no diplomacy skill

First of all, stop spamming, especially the link. Second of all, stop posting in all caps. The spamming and posting in caps will only make people less likely to help you, not more likely. Well thought-out posts tend to get positive attention. Posts like yours are more likely to draw moderator attention, deleting your spam and silencing you for a period of time.

Third, you were already answered on may 3rd, by a guy named Sav, in a post that can be found here. In short: use the HD mod.
