No. If X = 1 you can always join such monsters if Ch >= 1. Because J and JG have the minimum value of 1. Just play with formula.

-4 is a specially selected value. Just note that a minimal Charisma value is -3.

Ah, yes, I wasn't accounting for the +1 in the join formula. 2 would be the minimum aggression value that flat-out will not join without Sympathy or Diplomacy, then?

Yeah, right there with you, brother. I'm just trying to understand this to the best of my ability so I can update my hacking guide with it (and it's also something I want to do with my own mod).

This does mean that the assumptions I had about the hex addresses I posted earlier were incorrect, though, so I'm back to not being sure what I'm looking at.

so I have some more questions. Sorry to be a pain.

Is it possible in the .exe to edit for instance the CreatureBanks foe example:

Shipwreck 27032C (Wights)
to somehow add          3E (Vampires) and/or 40 (Liches)

just to make the battle more interesting; and to add it as a special chance of happening?


UPDATE: It is doable (except for the percentage adding part - I haven't tested that yet.)

In HoMM3 Complete (SoD) .exe
27032C - That's where the Wights are change the FF FF FF FF after to the monster type of your choice, mine was Vampire Lords 3F 00 00 00 and Ghost Dragons 45 00 00 00.

So now the whole string looks like this starting from 27032C:
3C 00 00 00 3F 00 00 00 45 00 00 00 FF FF FF FF - the last FF FF FF FF - s are stoppers. In game managed to get the 30% chance to battle 300 Wights and 100 Vampire Lords.

And also got the 10% chance to battle 2500 Wights (from which the first stack has a 100% upgrade chance) 750 Vampire Lords and 30 Ghost Dragons. Too bad I can't post a Screenshot.

At 2709A0 06 is the reward for the Shipwreck; for the Treasure + Minor artifact rewards, you can change the 06 to any of your choice for example (only in Hex) 0E for Treasure+Minor+Major.

The +2 unit speed bonus is located at 0E5B64 (Default 02 8B 47 1A) the 02 can be changed
& 0E63E5 (Default 02 8B 43 1A) the 02 can be changed (both must be changed) - working.

How can we edit the black market so that we can sell artifacts there?

I'm not actually following you on that Fear footnote, Alex. The address specified has 0A, or 10, which is 10%.

Also have a question about a much older post of yours, when you were talking about editing the bonuses for Citadel and Castle. You specified DWORD values of 00 00 E0 3F (1.75) and 00 00 10 40 (2.25), but I'm not actually sure how you calculated that (i.e. how to adjust it)?

Do the flags in CrBanks.txt not work here? I'm looking at the code around the area you specified and having a difficult time matching it up with the order I know the banks go in.

For Azure Dragons it's not a chance, but a divisor. Monsters skip their turn if the remainder is 0. For the value of 10, we have 10 remainders: 0, 1, 2, ..., 9. Thus, 1/10 chance for Fear. For the value of 5 we have 5 remainders: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. Thus, 1/5 chance for Fear.

Those numbers are specially modified ones for my custom code. Can you give a link to my post, so I could explain?

That is... possibly the most ass-backward convoluted way to code that effect I can even begin to imagine.

I got that part, I just wasn't sure how it was translating into hex. "00 00 E0 3F" at 1.75 doesn't look like any conversion I'm familiar with.
