It really all depends on whether you like action RPG games, or not I think it's way better than PoE and Diablo 3. If you are familiar with Titan Quest and weren't repulsed by its monotony, you should enjoy the game, since it's nowhere as monotonous as TQ.

Been playing this for a while.

Level 45+ something commando(soldier+demolitions)

First impression: Titan Quest total conversion mod.

But it's way more than that.

Epix are actually useful, and drop on a reasonable rate. not 1-2 per difficulty as it was in Diablo 2.

Currently half of my gear is epic.

Reputation gear is nice, although the rep grind is very, very wow-esque.

Also, the prices for buying some gear are a bit overblown, compared to the prices of selling stuff.

overall, it's a good game.

The itemization is just right. Epics feel powerful and useful. They may not fit a particular build you're playing, but they are pretty much never junk.

I actually like the balance of the lower levels. Not sure how situation looks for the endgame, I'm still playing low levels, lel.

And, the carnage is fun!

What do you say guys, should I review the game eventually? (perhaps it's time to revive my review corner )

Can someone tell me something about the Shaman class? Did anyone try it? I wanted to play a type of summoner class in an a action RPG for some time now. Heard he can even transform... was hoping for a second Diablo III expansion pack with the rumored Druid class, but so far nothing's on the horizon. If the Shaman class in GD does fit my taste I'm willing to try this game out...

@Blob: Blizz devs are busy with WoW: Legion, so a D3 expansion is likely to be out after that.

So, beaten the game on normal. Glad it didn't just flipped me to a new setting, and I can still finish stuff I didn't had time for. Nice.

Kinda disappointed in the boss itself though, not what I was expecting lore wise. Fight with that thing was well made though.

I don't believe he can transform but I have never gotten him to level 50 mastery-wise.

The shaman has:

1) Two-handed weapon buffing skills.
2) Lighting melee attacks.
3) Lightning or Vitality damage totems.
4) A strong pet with numerous upgrades.
5) A weak swarm of locusts that steal health.
6) Ensnaring vines.
8) Team buffs.
9) A self-lightning and cold damage buff.
10) A pet-focused buff.
11) A temporary powerful summon.
12) Can summon mini-tornadoes that can be upgraded.

All around the Shaman is a very strong class with great versatility.

Sounds like a class worthy to try out.

I also very much like the setting of this game, a post-apoc steampunk world. Not something you see everyday.

Still, the atmosphere is very lacking if you ignore all the text that is in the game. Some of the diary entries and stuff you find could b labeled as "highly disturbing", But it perfectly displays the ongoing despair and struggle to survive. 10/10 for the lore entries.

These days I am playing various ARPGs with my wife and the last one we are finishing is Grim Dawn. You see, its great game but there are so few skills.. I found myself using the same skills at lvl 40 that I was using when I was level 5. I like how the game plays and everything but I personally I can't feel the progress. Yes my character is doing more dmg and such but I am not seeing him becoming a "badass" like in lets say Diablo 2 or Torchlight 2. Recently I tried Van Helsing The Final Cut and I liked it more. There are so many skills, auras and what not. I may even say its a bit overcomplicated (which is nice!), you should give it a go guys.

Final cut is something I really want to try out, but I got their games on GoG, not steam.

They say "if you bought our games on GoG, and still want the final cut, write us an email, you'll get a key!"

So I wrote an email. They ignored me. GG.

As for skills, I think Grim Dawn has enough. It's impossible to make games with many skills that are equally useful. Just look at Diablo 2, or Torchlight 2- so many choices, 90% is useless. I prefer TQ skill tree, plus, there's a lot of skills on the celestial side.

Impressions for the first 25-26 levels:
- Killing hordes of brainless mobs is more fun than in Diablo II and III;
- The mobs are still brainless though - one of those Demolitionist's Molotov cocktails at a choke point and everyone's rushing to burn to death. Apart from "strategically" placed zombies or skeletons which emerge from the ground once you pass some spot and engage something else, the AI is Super Mario level (yes, I know, every ARPG is like that, why not make one different though);
- Zombies... Ranged zombies, melee zombies, some sort of caster zombies. Overused and at some point killing zombies and zombies and zombies and MORE zombies gets way too repetitive;
- The setting is very nice and largely wasted. The world would have been perfect for a classic RPG but in a game where 99% of the time you kill endless waves of idiots and loot so much stuff that you can build a town, you can't really immerse yourself well;
- The storytelling is better than in your regular ARPG with some lore pieces scattered here and there but it again makes me wonder why anyone bothered to write decent lore for a meat grinder. I don't mind though;
- Bosses so far fare worse than some of the "hero" creatures;
- Customization is very good indeed;
It's an entertaining game overall.

If you go for cookie cutter builds, yes, but otherwise you go for whatever build you want. Especially in D2 you have at least 3 ways to go with every class.

That's only because the difficulty level is so low that you can pretty much own the Hell mode with anything.

Add challenging content and the number of valid builds start shrinking.

If you're familiar with Diablo 3's current gameplay, you can use it as reference point. In Torment X, multiple builds work, there's a ton of ways to play the game, but for high Greater Rifts, you either use cookie cutter builds (at best 2 per class, usually it's just one build that rules them all) or die.

I'm glad you like the game, Zenofex. As for Zombies, their numbers diminish after the Warden. They still appear from time to time but the variety increases in other locations.

So, an expansion pack is coming next month.

New locations, all that good crap. Looks like we'll be going into the cities, out of the rural areas, which is a nice change.

Two new masteries as well, Inquisitor and Necromancer. I wonder what the first one is like.

the game is very good
i have made 4 charcaters so far, in the next builts:
Shaman + solider , for heavy two hander hitter, very nice, esspacily the shaman summonings can take agro, for me to give hitt, but on the later levels can be hard with bosses...
Arcanist + Solider for defence, but i end up spamming magic arrow anyway
Demonlinist and inquister...i thought inquister is a kin to paladin of this game, but not exectly, more like , anti mage, ranged attacks,and crword control. esspacily rune of heregoth for kiting. but existing bonus to ranged makes it nice to add to demonilitinst, plus the name is purifier...

and pure necromancer because of reasons. esspacily legendery book tht gives you a specile summoning in lvl 40
