One only has to let go of Heroes VII. A lot of trust between customers and the publisher (aka Ubisoft) has been broken and even if Heroes VII was improved, I doubt people would willingly return, due to many bad memories surrounding the game.

So yeah, whatever the reason the devs are starting to make "real" action by fixing bugs and balancing out that skillwheel, it is too late. I think if the publishing date and more money was given to the game, things would've been much, much different.

Besides, fixing needs money and time, which is better invested elsewhere. Begin again and let go.

ubisoft doesn't need to begin anything again, especially not heroes games. what they need DESPERATELY to do, is pass the torch to someone who knows(and cares about) wtf they're doing.

Pf. As if you didn't read the "let go" part - selling the franchise, since they obviously want to wring out every piece of gold from the franchise with their mistreatment.

Moving posts here from the Positive Feedback thread, because they really belong here.

So I came back to Heroes VII once again (1.8). Now it's officially playable, at least.

While I see all HOMM basic elements are there (albeit clunky and sluggishly displayed), I can't resist myself to bring up the one question: Isn't H7 a cheap version of H5 (no matter how far Limbic will go with it)?... I really want to know your thoughts on this idea (I'm appealing here to the fan side, not the critical one).

Don't get me wrong: I really want to appreciate H7. In other words: Are there any particular reasons why H7 deserves to be modded over Heroes 5 ToTE? Perhaps the engine is more favourable to the modder, I don't know for certain...

I'm still seeing potential in this installment, I truly am (actually it's kinda an advanced version of Heroes VI, isn't it?). Besides, I like the artwork invested there, so the attempt of making the 3D environment of H5 more manageable.

EnergyZ said:
The only reason I can think of is because Heroes V had different graphics, which did not suit anyone (some even called them cartoonish).

Personally, I do not mind, but don't you think it is strange that's the reason not to play the game, especially when its sequels (H6 and H7) are having even more realistic graphics (to a certain extent)? I mean some people still wish for H2's graphics, color and 2D enviroment.

Just saying if people complained about H5's graphics, wouldn't the same complaint be extended to H6 and H7, because of this "3D realistic graphics", which are nothing like the games made by NWC.

What I really want to see is a kind of 2.5D Heroes, kinda like Heroes III but with all those neat grahic tricks (like this?). It's a hard nut to crack, because for one, I wouldn't like it if Ubisoft made it cause they're probably mess this up. And it might not appeal to many people who are spoiled by modern graphics so the game would flop on the financial side. But there are so many succesful indie games with retro style or hand drawn graphics that it makes me wonder that maybe this idea would really work out...

Interesting point. Yeah, I totally agree.

Anyway let's get to the point. First off, we're able to compare the "Ubisoft triad" for the very first time, by setting up the cons & pros (obviously in my humble opinion).

Heroes V. Pros:

-Beautiful 3D castle interiors.
-Nice battlefields: pleasant animations, nice graphics, etc.
-Better AI (thanks to Quantomas).
-Advanced RMG (thanks to Q.& Magnomagus).
-Very nice other options (such as Governor thingy, etc., once again, thanks to Magnomagus).
-A bright future, indeed.

Heroes V. Cons:

-Loading times (even now -with H5.5- 15 secs. between turns in bigger maps are too much).
-Metaphysical map editor.
-Global map is a bit confusing.

Heroes VI. Pros:

-Beautiful 2D castle interiors.
-Overall, the artwork.
-Global map is more pleasant.

Heroes VI. Cons:
-Uplay.
-Stranded resources.
-Lack of factions.
-Poor map editor.
-(etc. )

Heroes VII. Pros:

-Overall, the artwork.
-Some line-up options (I'm not sure yet).
-Global map is even better than H6.
-Easily moddable (I think...).

Heroes VII. Cons:
-Worse castle interiors.
-Map editor? (I'm not sure yet since I saw a decent number of them out there).
-According to many good fellas here, the skill system.
-Clunky animations.
-Bugs, bugs, bugs.
-MP's unplayable (however I'm not particularly interested).

Heroes VII might have a future, but what bothers me the most is the fact that this wouldn't depend on Ubisoft but the smartest fanbase.

Don't worry, it has been like that since Heroes III and as a result whe got three great games.
My problem in this regard is how Ubi seams aware of this and how they choosed to manage it: let's make a poor game, sell it months prevously to his release, immediatly state the game isn't "finnished" and that we (community) can grab the shovels and start building it, so they can profit from our work.
FUBs, I may work for free but I will not be exploited by people that only bring greed to the play.

Sure, that was my whole point. It's painful supporting something rigged and flawed right from the start.

Anyhow, I feel that H7 will have a future, no matter what.

Meh, Ubi does business, it is a business company. Then the team designing the game designs games, it is its job. It pays food, family and house bills. They studied and learned for that, long years.

Neither one or other are obligated to deliver perfect games, they do what they can, within their limits, then you decide their fate by buying it or not. Of course they will promise amazing game then will fake listening to fans, you never voted for a politic doing same?! It is part of the game, part of real life tricks

Imagine someone hires me for a piano concerto -example- then it goes bad. And then for 12 months or longer people ( for the most who never played a single piano note) keep mocking on me by posting my real photos, distorted, caricatured, insult me, then everyone knowing me personally, friends, family, my kids, they all see my real name and my image bashed and trampled all over the net. This is pure frustration translated in out of control hate, this is madness. Some here have a realistic discourse, while others a discourse totally out of real world.

My two cents, and it is meant to be positive. For the developers.

Then please imagine up to scale: you are the only one legally allowed to benefit from Mozart, and you keep on butchering Mozart every performance. If the public tells you for instance they don't want you to use the pedal, you use it twice more, or no rubato, you put some everywhere etc. Some people might not give a damn about Mozart, others can accept Mozart is suffering at the price of your income, but others might want to try and give Mozart its freedom back by expressing themselves accordingly, as they are sick of hearing distorted concertos each time because of an interpreter's indecency.

Salamandre said:
@Galaad

It is my job, I worked for it a whole life, so I will accept again and again even if others (SOME of them) consider I butcher it. Assuming however that I try my best. I don't care (or I prefer ignore for my health sake) about what some say as long as other people buy tickets so they support my survival.

When no one buys any longer a ticket, then I would consider changing job, what else?

Therefore, the only way to warn producers that they took wrong direction is to ignore the game. Don't buy.

I had the same issue with last Star Wars. I am unconditioned fan of the movie but the last one I didn't like, that's it. I discussed a bit in forums, heard to this or that of counter opinions, they didn't convince me. Thus now I have no desire to watch again the movie, while the others I watched 50 times each. And it went out of my head.

It is entertaining area, is not like you lost your job or else on that level.

You forgot to mention that you didn't rehearse enough for the concert and was in no condition to actually play it correctly.

don't worry about that mate, I think we've all ticked that box lol

edit: sorry apologies I completely forgot I was in this thread, all this stuff should be deleted lol

Salamandre said:
Well, for dozens reason, something you expect to go well can go wrong. But there is one thing which puzzles me: if H6 didn't sell well, there wouldn't have been H7. Market laws are not hazardous, but based on profit. And if H7 didn't sell reasonably well neither, they wouldn't keep continue patching and designing expansions. In my opinion, both sides could be guilty here, but those who keep buying while the game is unplayable, much more.

But you know real life tricks, like advertising your gigs and promoting your view on Mozart -'el romantico'- ensuring you further tickets even if you loose some. This is how one keeps a fraud alive, and this is how a game which isn't really Heroes get to keep the name on the box through the years.

Who removed the spellpower- spell duration link?

That is another nonsense.

JollyJoker said:
H6 put that to the grave.
Spell duration and its importance is another thing I wrote a novel about.

natalka said:
h6 also buried the old tavern which I wrote many times about.

JollyJoker said:
Well, what can you say? H7 is supposedly "Best of..." - however, it looks increasingly like they meant "Best of Might & Magic: Heroes".

natalka said:
h6 also gave to all heroes exp visions. Now everything is clear from day 1 , be it what spells you will get, what creatures are inside banks and even artifact rewards.
