You see those two biggies? They were in prisons with quests requiring a certain player but they were released too soon. If I put a creature in the way before the quest both player and AI can take the fight and only then you see that you can't free the hero, leaving the way paved for AI, if I put them after the quest and AI loses the fight you can free them.
Any sugestion?

To keep AI heroes x days locked, use border gates asking for 9999 gems or so, then add timed event in editor giving this resource.

Multiple Solutions:

Timed Gate



Gate will be opened after set amount of time.
Army Method: Put a creature dwelling and ask for x*W Creatures, where x is the number of creatures produced per week and W is the week wanted. Does only work for full weeks.
Timed Event Method: Timed event giving high amount of asked for ressources to AI on day x.

Progression Gate:



Give AI access to one border gate colour the human player can get very late in the game only; now place a border gate before it that is exclusive to the player. Once the player opens this gate, the AI hero is free to roam the lands, you can put a prison behind a gate or (as shown above) a keymasters tent which will free a number of heroes.

Movement Gate (not recommended)
Make a large path AI needs to take on before reaching gate. Can be made more effective with swan ponds. This allows for the much more interesting...

Triggered Timebomb Gate



After concluding a certain part of the map, a strong hero is released into a water area, and that AI player controlls a big amount of lighthouses. The player has to take control of as many as possible to delay his arrival.

Those are the ones I use the most often. The progression gate is the most recommended, as it will make sure slow players can also play the map.

Your progression gate, why make simple when you can make it complicated?

Here from Unleashed, simple design



Also the AI hero has to be invincible at the time when you open that, otherwise player kills him and plot is over.

Thats why there is a white border gate above the hero! The teleporter and pandora box have nothing to do with the constellation, but I find it most comfortable to give AI one reserverd border colour (usally white) while also reserving one for the human right from the start (usually light blue).

Unless there is a way to make this restriction act different for the AI than for the human, then there is no way in SoD to have invincible Tazar while protecting human from overflow. In any case, it's not like it's exactly easy to get enough experience to get to 88, much less to 868.

What kills me is AI freezing game. Please share what you found about. Some of mines:

a) AI has summon boat but there is no boat to summon
b) (WOG) AI standing up hero has learning and gets level up from it (+300 exp daily) after x months.
c) AI has big living army, gets necro skill and freezes when trying to add skells after fight
d) AI fills all 7 slots in town garrisons with joiners, freezes when trying to recruit creatures as there is no free slot
e) big big armies (however no one can say this is 100% sure, I saw such armies freeze, and such armies without problem).


But it can be anything, given that there is probably a map value which can randomly be safe or not, depending what you add. In the map I correct now, the author added a stack of faeries dragons on map, then map freeze always day 14. I removed the stack, all fine. This is very disturbing.

Maybe the question is too trivial but I have no idea how to find the awser, so: if you play at Impossible level with an allied AI, does your ally also starts with zero resources?

You will need Era 2 and Deadlift mod. It is Earth Ruller hero (Gurnisson -teal team) which freezes the game. No scripts for him.

For WoG/ERA bugs I'm not the guy (to say it in the most diplomatic way) but I'm sure an ERA fan can look at some point. For any other problems I personally also probably also cannot prioritize it soon, but it does not hurt to post to the public and sometimes quick fixes can be made.

Well, those are not Era/Wog exclusive bugs as they happen most of time in SoD, one hero gets frozen then game hangs, and no script is involved. I only had that save because is still posted in one forum. Now for SoD saves, not sure anyone posts them because there is no way to debug them atm, so people just give up, report game failed and thats all.

While in Era I can investigate, remove/add parameters on the fly, thus fix the situation. Doesn't mean I found the reason why its freezing.

Thing is, he keeps giving me money and resources almost every day when the idea was that I had to provide for his safety...
Play with ally shouldn't be a way out of trouble, so AI ally should also be pennyless.

Again, it probably is better to take all AI resources away by timed events, only giving resources to buy creatures, and making all buildings etc. fixed

True, just took a town 1/3/7 and he still hadn't upgrade the Portal of Glory, despise me building it for him day 7 of week one. And he definetivelly isn't out of resources, the money and resources I gave him starting day have been reinforced not mined.
