Strange politics
As I was reading the news in my country, something just blew my mind.
Anyhow, before the government elections in my country, which were about four months ago, the "right" representative "Tom" told the prime minister, called "Zor" (or whatever the head of the government is called) was nothing, claiming "Zor" and his people (who were members of the "left" party) just wasted their money and there was no notable economic progress, according to him. "Zor" merely dismissed "Tom" and usually told that those were unchecked facts or somesuch nonsense.
Today, it has been told this "Zor" managed to regain his position of the president of the party (due to elections for the president inside the party itself),, at least on Facebook.
What blew my mind is some hours later, this "Tom" actually congratulated "Zor" for the elections inside the party, even if they were on the opposite sides.
So, can anyone explain, really, what could this mean? Here I thought such people were bitter enemies, and not just in my country.

I think you said it all with the word politics. And I don't particularly believe it is that strange either, maybe just a bit uncommon. Under normal circumstances, it just makes sense to congratulate the winner.

That's a fairly common occurrence, bro. Like two great warriors respecting each other. Two strong men sizing up each other's voluminous pectorals, twitching them in a display of dominance, and when they come back to reality, tell each other how they respect each other. Except I bet they aren't exactly strong.
It's more a social contest of who got the most friends.

You think so? But, if it was about respect, wouldn't "Tom" before the government elections refrain from making negative remarks?
I mean, every day you could hear his voice "Zor" is incompetent, "Zor" does this wrong etc. Perhaps this could be said for any party opposition in any country.
But when the same person starts congratulating the man he, by certain means, "trash-talked" down, I can see this as a very strange thing to do.
I mean, if it was about respect, wouldn't "Tom" want a better, more fit person he'd be able to face in the next elections?
Or does he want the same person to stay as the party's president, knowing it just makes the party weaker?
Tell me, then.

Because it's a popularity competition where they'll do any dirty trick to win, even slander the opponent.
It's the voter's own responsibility to ignore the bull and focus on what is important for the voter himself. Look into how things are, what needs to change, what can be done, and what the given politician claims he'll do and what he has done, or tried to do, in the past on the subject. Anything else is just gain the votes of those who are easy to buy, in my opinion.
Apart from that, it's generally considered good manners to "shake hands", also in chess, even if you're annoyed with the person or you don't like the person.. it's common courtesy. The same goes for other stuff, like don't vote for yourself, even if you think you're the best candidate, etc.

Should we pay taxes?
It's times like these that make me wonder - do we really have a power to change things? I know that some people say that, as a community, united together, many things could be changed.
But this is basically an international scam, which has been going on for dozens of years.

We do have a power to change things but power and money corrupts, has corrupted and will corrupt. This is an aspect of human nature that can't be changed.

Perhaps. But don't you think such people would also misuse the power further? After all, they certainly wouldn't willingly let anyone reveal such info - and would likely use any force necessary. In the past, it was about using the police and the army to reinforce a status of whoever was leading the country. Today, I think things have changed drastically - it's about subtlety.
After all, I still remember news about that Mexico incident, where the police united with the one of the mayor of the Mexican city and they just killed a bunch of students and buried them somewhere.
For what would you do if the law is being so misused?

This is why you should vote for Donald Trump. He was proven to be extremely resistant to any form of corruption. He is rich, yet he respects the law.
