Not sure if I'm overly progressive or overly regressive for listening to this.

Nah. This is the classic Wild Child here.

The real song starts at 0:49, by the way.

Since we're at it: The Doors- Shamans Blues

Unexpectedly, the Everly Brothers version of Walking the Dog is better than the Rufus Thomas original and the Rolling Stones cover from their first album.

Prince's Erotic City.

Live it was Something else.

I've always thought that Prince was the real counterpart to Madonna, not Michael Jackson.

If your criteria is kinkiness

I like how he implements a George Benson style jazzy blues solo into something like this and turns it into completely something else: Sexy MF. One of my Prince favorites.

Also, his clip on Musicology reminds me so much of my own childhood. "These are my records now, dont you ever touch my stereo!" Lol. Cant remember how many LP's I scratched when I was around 6 or 7.

I'm generally ambivalent about Prince. Classy as a performer, songwriter and guitar player, he's in the same league as Hendrix, probably, but for me there is a lot of oscillation in his songs, from silly/Meaningless to absolutely brilliant. I remember, not being that impressed by "Little Red Corvette", but German TV showed a Prince concert live on New Years Eve when he had Purple Rain out, and the show blew me away.

A lot of his songs have zero appeal for me, too. Personally, I like him when he goes more funky with a brass section or when he plays plain rock like in Peach but I dislike his 80's pop style works. I dislike that sound in general anyway. So synthetic and no nuance.

"Pop" is generally a problematic discipline - by definition it has to be somewhat simple, so the art is in the arrangement and the catchiness of the melody without being a ri-off.
So I like a couple of his pop songs because they work as such, but generally I also think he's best when he's funky and jazzy which he was often enough.
